the way some of these shows expect people to just know what's happening is...not how you make things. i get that it's romance, previously written in story form, but a lot of romance adaptations just throw shit at you and expect the viewer to have all this context because of the world they built or any connecting works to that world as if you are part of the built in audience. which, again, isn't logical if it's not a second season. like what if someone totally new is tuning in randomly? i do understand, though, that the intention was to release it muuuuuuuuuuch closer to uwma and, due to unforeseen events called 2020 onward, they couldn't. still it's annoying and common. stop that
i feel like i have to say sth positive every time i post since i have a lot of critique. i am not disappointed in the show. this is on me, but i expect so fucking little so my bar is low. i think they are great together and i don't think their acting is truly so bad any more so than usual. however, they need more direction especially with body language and the energy levels. i know these bitches (all the cast and crew) are tired and i know plenty of them have been sick too and i'm one of those people that believes covid can majorly effect you, even if young. so much has changed; that's why these things need more time than given. but there's just so many identifiable moving parts that could improve (that are in their control unlike boun's goddamn hair). because they're one of my fav couples of the genre—even with uwma and it being kinda awkward there somethin' about it that made me give a shit (a lot? fsr) and care. about these two. sooooooo i want it 2 b the best.
they need to remove dead space, too. it just looks like they are keeping it in due to run time. this editor man ...they are killin' me a little. i'm trying to be nice cos they really could have a boss over their shoulder being awful, have less freedom. they might not even be an actual editor and just know how to use the program like a youtuber or sth. either way, they can do so much to improve the material they have...just...do that...pls....
i was able to rewatch their end scene (sober) and i liked it a lot. even with the (numerous) flaws it's, again, a joy to see them together and it feels good. i could see prem/team actually smiling through it and (to me) they look like they actually enjoy being near each other and together. still my fav scene so far was with them being intense is the first episode b4 they got on the bed (i turn it off usu at that lol cos it fizzled out imo). das my fav so far. also they hug a lot which i like but i like the whole touching just to touch thing cos u cant stay away saurrrr.
Ever since I watched Saint/Perth in LBC I have always worried about the actors in these scenes ... hinges, lock…
i've recently started to bruise easily (old age) (jk) and it's everywhere. and i'm /black/ so like is /their/ skin gonna be ok? maybe they're lucky but i woulda been tore up
ep2 > ep1, imofor now im really curious about team's backstory and how it's going to be addressed in the next…
also win needs to loosen up. i mean when he's being a real human his acting is much easier to accept anyway but girl relax those eyebrows, loosen yr posture, live a lil
Just a question for those who have watched UWMA, based on how they've written Pharm and Dean so far, do you think…
i would just read the synopsis and use what you can to figure out if you want to watch the show. because me personally......i did not really and their story just isnt that interesting to me. it's not that hard to guess imo and if you read some background ull be alright lmao. but if you wanna watch a tv show and are into melodrama why not
i think i found out why there's so many side couples. so from my memory, the novel that this is based on, hemp…
yea i think you have a great last point (getting lost).
re lazysheep: i think she also got covid and got really sick actually? script is way different from a story and i'm not sure if she is versed in it (for ex: i cannot write prose well, but i can for scripts). also, and i'm not comparing these two works at all, but with something like GOT they plan in advance for work that is unfinished. the author had deals on how his books should be released and the information given out in the show was measured based on that. that changed when he ended up just not writing more at all tho so...i don't think it's a problem because of lack of written material per se. or if it is that's...not how making something works so they should work on that.
however, i agree with you on another point; i realized while watching that i think they are trying to pad out the run time due to a lack of previously shot material and production shooting for these things goes f a s t. we COULD be wrong but i was rly asking myself, "is this necessary?" (no)
Okay second episode and honestly it's not bad, however they really should have just redone every scene. Wins hair…
it is so expensive and just hard to do this! you literally cannot re-film every scene it's impossible. imagine having all that footage and not using it like just on principle alone...no. but...
people were complaining about how it took 3y to release this...so like while i KNOW it sucks and i KNOW it is distracting and i get it but it's so fucking hard to do guys. lol i get the complaints but any solution we come up with is not logistically possible so it's a limited critique. they can't just decide to hold off on everything with regard to no one else for this jawn's HAIR. tbh his hair should have just never been dyed. but anyway lol sooo much easier said than done. and filming restrictions are TIGHT like they do not fuck around with covid on sets (i mean at least in the US but i feel like everywhere idk).
as someone with bleached hair, i don't even pay attention to it cause i know it's a struggle to have roots - you…
i have a lot of issues with production but this is literally not possible with how filming works. i think this is a much bigger ask than people realize
you have someone(s) that does the schedule every single day and we group by what is most logical to get done at once or on what days because of MONEY, time (literally the deadlines to deliver, the time of day and labor wise—this is why we see adults playing kids), the weather, and...covid. and like the user said above it would kill his hair if he bleached it frequently. remember that the crew (incl actors) also have other jobs which you have to schedule around. they just don't have the option to film around his hair
so they took a chance. this would NEVER happen in a serious artistic/critically acclaimed film/show or in a well-made comedy but that's because that consistency to those works/shows is so important. in marvel movies or something they put them in ugly-ass wigs because these a-listers cannot just change their hair on a whim. i heard they were still filming so that should be more consistent but you might be seein' it more folks
see this is why fidelity for an adapted work isn't always good but i guess if he didn't have bleach blonde hair he wouldn't be special or sth idk
What more do you want? They kissed many times on the lips in ep 2. They had sloppy kisses, long kisses, everything.…
personally in kp (and i didnt watch lita but it's all the same to me and i can guess what it looked like) their scenes are not particularly compelling. so i would go with neither shows (kp lita and there's been others that upped the ante like why r u), a lot of times bumping mouths and being able to take off more clothes is truly not enough for engagement and to gauge chemistry BUT ia with you cos the neck kissing is so annoying oh my god (and the slamming) i enjoyed the scene for the most part but i feel you; it is distracting. took me out too.
edit: i think the problem is that it legit doesn't look real (and it's not like we'd know very well bc of the sound!!!! so!) and i fuckin hate that i hate it like are they just moving their fuckin faces around? WHO KNOWS
don't worry, you tried your best! i do genuinely support people pirating so. you wanted to support but ya couldn't! i'm sorry it won't accept the payment, very annoying
Ok this 2nd episode wasn't so bad overall, but Win's changing hair keeps distracting me and taking me out of the…
they know it's just that there's lit nothing they can do about it cos everything isn't filmed in one day and there's a decent passage of time between when they filmed all these scenes. i'm not sure what the time frame is tho but it's probably murder on his hair
Am I the only one who finds Win somewhat predatory? Yes, there was clear consent in the first episode but that…
addressing your first part imo your'e absolutely correct and it's valid. i don't think he's a predator but you're right about "consent" being iffy (tho i disagree w some other points). when I watched the moment, I knew people would like the talk, which is fine since we don't get it often in these shows, but it makes consent sound like a blanket term, like a maximalist position. That's not how it works. He was drinking, turned him on, and asked him to follow him to his room. after kissing and stroking him. In real life, he would have either gotten his ass beat since that SUCKS or be freaked out. even if he said yes is that still not a problem? (yes, it is)
i did like the advice he found about his one night stand but precisely what you observed is why that's also dubious (if u decided, enjoy it) because it matters how we got to the sex, what lead up to it, and really examining feelings. you may find that it is not an enjoyable experience when you get there and often it isn't. we have a sex problem.... lol BUT sry one of my fav books is on this topic.
ANYWAY. i don't think beyond that it is so bad i mean he's invading his space but i think after they slept together it's fair game. not rly a bad dynamic. team is 18 and win is 21 and he's around him all the time. the problem with age gap dynamics is the prevalence due to the clear power dynamics and wish fulfilment. win's not some random person my age showing up to this college like a freak or intentionally hanging out w a bunch of 18 y/o for no reason, ykwim?
allll my above said if this is the best we're gonna get i can allow myself to transport to another plane and be like 'alright whatever'. it could be worse and they tried it at all. i won't laud it because i think it is contradictory in the show—inebriated sex with a sober person but asking after the fact of what already happened seems pointless to me but sure—BUT this is...definitely a fuckin first and not just for BLs for a lot of asian dramas and it's AWFUL. pure awful.!!!!!!!
besides my enjoyment in seeing them, i also liked when he googled one night stands and one piece of advice was 'if you already decided to do it just enjoy it' (which is mostly good advice, a little to black and white but still) and another thing was: don't feel guilty.
which i think is good for teens who watch, esp teen girls, and young women so they can see the opposite of internalization or feel guilty for engaging in one of the most basic parts of being human: sex! (this goes for anyone not just the gorls but u know, the demo)
also when team took his bowl to put away to ~take care of him~ me personally i wouldnt but hey (yes i would lol i'd feel so bad if i didn't. so rude). it may be very choppy but team and win have a great flow. they're also a lot more sensual which is an attractive thing to watch bc a good makeout or sex scene can be absolutely flat and give others no value if it's empty—thinking of like kp, why r u, other...stuff idk just not exciting at all and it looks like the sex is boring bc i'm bored. not here tho :)
For the people who read the whole novel: how are episode 1 & 2? Are they somewhat like the novel or far from it?
some of it not completely. i'm using the hemp rope book only as my compass tho not uwma.
tbh they don't have sex again that quickly uhhh at all( on page) and when they do mention it later, it's in the context of their relationship. so i was kinda surprised (pleasantly tho) they got to it this quick again. subsequently the what are we talk took place somewhere else but it also didn't happen like that in the book per se. tbh it's very vague and more emotional? ish in the book. the translation is really hard to read tho so mabe i'm wrong. also the scenes in the beginning (with WT) were identical except in the book there's some dumb sexual innuendo that is v unecessary so i'm glad they yanked that cos it woulda been so embarrassing for my eyes to see.
i feel like i have to say sth positive every time i post since i have a lot of critique. i am not disappointed in the show. this is on me, but i expect so fucking little so my bar is low. i think they are great together and i don't think their acting is truly so bad any more so than usual. however, they need more direction especially with body language and the energy levels. i know these bitches (all the cast and crew) are tired and i know plenty of them have been sick too and i'm one of those people that believes covid can majorly effect you, even if young. so much has changed; that's why these things need more time than given. but there's just so many identifiable moving parts that could improve (that are in their control unlike boun's goddamn hair). because they're one of my fav couples of the genre—even with uwma and it being kinda awkward there somethin' about it that made me give a shit (a lot? fsr) and care. about these two. sooooooo i want it 2 b the best.
