Has Junho been confirmed yet? Also people are calling it an action drama, but the synopsis doesn't sound like…
JYPE said it's not confirmed and it's one of many offers. The Naver article went into a lot more detail than the synopsis here. It's an action romance.
You are completely correct, I am not sure what the difference is between 'currently watching' and 'verified' -…
Yep, the question is reliability and skewing of data. In the end, you like what you like and the ratings don't always reflect your taste, and that's okay.
You are completely correct, I am not sure what the difference is between 'currently watching' and 'verified' -…
Verified means those ratings are coming from accounts verified against a phone number, so they're likely unique people. Currently watching is other accounts not verified, which include burner accounts people use to bump ratings up or down. So verified can be more accurate from the 1 person, 1 vote standpoint, but they're not weighed heavier than non-verified accounts in the total rating.
If I'm wrong pls correct me. This was a huge topic some time ago because of burner account purging and calculation method changes.
I'm digging this, however while watching ep1, I was reminded of Ever Night more than a few times. Guess I wasn't the only one. Curious as to what their source is, I haven't seen comments on the Korean side.
Airing on jtbc, directed by same director as Reflection of You (this is a big plus for me!), and this seems to be a recruitment post for an art team member, from June to March. Idk if it'll be pre-produced, but if not this could be airing as early as mid/late Q1 2023...?
His lapse in judgement aside, and giving the drama the benefit of the doubt, it's good to understand how birth control works (especially in this day and age where our body autonomy is eroding at the speed of light, at least in some countries):
What a wonderful journey we got taken on. I love that they all acknowledged that, while they didn't achieve their ultimate goal, they grew and attained enlightenment, and their journey continues. That's life, folks, a messy series of ups and downs. This ending reminds me of musings on happy endings in Run On.
All these actors were perfectly cast, the script was absolutely meaty and savory, the art direction and cinematography was exquisite. It was a joy to watch.
And while I picked this up for SSK (and omg was he delish in this drama), Lee Min Ki freaking *stole* the show. I hope he gets recognitions. His range just blew up with this drama.
"I'm not a 1 won coin, I'm the mountain." liberation looks differently for every individual - we're not all the same coin. And him realizing that he's not an island is heartbreaking. I'm rooting for all of them on their journeys, but even that liberation will be transient (or in 7s bursts) - life goes on and new challenges will come. Very curious about how the drama will end.
The acting, the script, the art direction, the direction, everything is hitting on all cylinders since day 1, and here we are heading into the final weekend. Very sad to say goodbye soon to this gem.
As for today, just when I thought I'd bawled my good share of tears during the episode, the preview comes and makes me wail all over again. I both want the week to go fast and also not come for a while 🤣
im sorry. what were those last couple episodes, no what was the FLs writing the last half of the drama. i am so…
If you're so-inclined and curious about the most helpful homework, this blog post is probably the best.
The story is amazing and it's worth researching (this king was the last effective ruler the Joseon Dynasty had before it started collapsing prior to the Japanese occupation, and their love story is the stuff of legends), and with this framework the drama becomes so much richer.

Yeah, episodes 13, 14, 15 are hard to watch because of this. Then the huge time skip between 16 and 17 is bewildering if you don't know the history - and even if you do, it's bound to give you whiplash. 16 and 17 were aired back to back live so it was whiplashy even when not binging it lol.
I've watched this drama 3 times now, tho, and in this last watch things fit better for me in regards to her character. But they really make you work for it, ha!

Same same. This is what I know so far from interviews and other sources:
- the stage direction on the script was very sparse, to the extent the director and actors had a lot of free reign, but also left maybe too much to their interpretation. I have a copy of the script and it's true it's very sparse. A lot of those lingering dialogue-free scenes are like "..." and nothing else lmao.
- the script writer really was the weak link in the production team. The director drew blood from a stone throughout - her PD Daesang Award was *very well deserved*
- the original plan was for 20 episodes, MBC wouldn't sign up for more than 16, and only extended it when the popularity was proven after it started. The extension was not nearly enough to add so many needed scenes to explain her concerns and reasoning in a way that would make them more understandable. The San character was exquisitely well-written by comparison, it's a shame that what was supposed to be a court lady-centered story was more or less shortchanged by MBC and the script.
- as a traditional sageuk based on actual historical characters, and considering the intended audience is Koreans, they took the liberty in skipping a lot of details that international audiences would need to fill in the blanks. Once you understand why she rejected him multiple times, and how she finally came to accept him after 15 yrs, the story makes so much sense. But this is a drama that requires homework to fully appreciate, for us non-Koreans.
Having said all this, this is still a 10/10 for me because with the research done and all the dots connected, this is the most heart-wrenching drama I've seen and I'm a sucker for oceans of sadness 🥰

And this is the so-called "nuanced", "restrained" acting by LSY that people on Twitter are enamored with. Personally, I don't get it.
I also had trouble believing she loved him, you have to follow closely what she actually says and does, because if you just look at her face and try to glean emotions off it, it appears to be contradictory.
The writing for her character was the weak spot of the second half, with the exception of a couple of scenes, namely the one where she says good bye to herself. FYI, that wasn't even in the script (you can tell) - it was added by the director.

Please note, highest success rate for any practical option is 99% - condoms are 85% effective, for the record. That's a depressingly low number!
