Honestly thought the second part of the series was a big let down. We had this back and forth of a "love obsession"…
She had been planning to break that oath to her friends from the moment it was brought up. Why she asked about Young Hee choosing to be with her lover instead - she was talking about herself. The theory is also that she wanted to see her friends instead of him because she would never see them again, while she planned to meet him in the after life instead (as we saw in the final scene).
The last few episodes were almost verbatim from the novel, including the voice-over. Seyoung had mentioned that that ending was the reason she chose the project, so it wasn't shoehorned in as you assume.
Why does Lee Joon acts with tears in his eyes ALL THE TIME??!!!??? At first I thought it was with his love, the…
Bless you, I thought I was the only one annoyed to all hell over this. I've never seen him before so idk if it's how he acts, or the director, or the script, but I end up laughing most of the time he's on screen. Someone hand him a tissue, pls.
Ima keep going because this drama annoys me in more ways..
The loud whispering he and the queen dowager speak in is also an odd choice that brings about some inappropriate laughs.
The last thing is the cinematography.. Yes, it's pretty, but it feels like style over substance, most of the time. Every time I see a crane or drone shot I roll my eyes so hard. They're for, what I guess is supposed to be, dramatic effect, but they just feel like filler shots, they're so overused.
Ugh I really like the plot so I'm hanging on, but it's such a weird watch for me.
After having watched and loved (at least s1+2) the American version, I can't not compare and be disappointed. Man, I miss Rogelio so much! I find their use of Latin-sounding bgm super jarring, too. I guess it's a nod to the roots, but it takes me out every time. My love for Shin Dong Wook is keeping me on board, with generous fast forwarding.
Can someone explained Me last conversation between Mr gu and mi jung?what he wanted hear from mi jung?
I think he wanted to alleviate his guilt at leaving. Her being sad is much worse than being angry as a weight on his mind. Look at how he'd been treating himself since he made himself believe he killed his gf
Today's episode had me alternating between tears of joy, tears of sorrow, and screams of "why is this show soooooooo gooooooood?!?!!"
Ki Jung's super honest awkwardness, Chang Hee getting chased, Mi Jung breaking down - they were beautiful.
But I surprised myself at how emotional I got with the club lady's take on herself. And what a bookend with her mentioning her behavior at funerals and how Gu did there at the end.
This drama really makes everything else on my plate look so unappetizing 🤣
Does anyone else get reminded of Jane Eyre when watching this? the story felt like a mix between Jane Eyre and…
There have been a lot of comparisons with Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. In interviews with the writer (or the director?) it was said that Yeongjo was modeled on King Lear and San on Cordelia (typo fixed), so there's also a Shakespearean influence.
The reticence in the comments below remind me of very early days TRS and people hemming and hawing that that was just a remake of the much-superior Yi San and not worth the watch because Yi San already exists. I'm hoping the naysayers here are proven just as wrong :)
But I gladly watch Junho vlogs where he talks to himself about the weather, so nothing's keeping me away from this one!
And re: lowering standards, a few things to keep in mind:
- Variety is his M.O. He doesn't repeat characters/plots (granted, he's played 3 lawyers, but check out how different they are)
- The one romcom he has under his belt was weak af plotwise, but holy crap was he great to watch in it (and my lovely Jung Ryeo Won was so delish too)
- He's gotta get the romcom in while he's still young. He has plenty of time left to do more heavy roles
- He also probably needs a break, TRS affected him deeply. The guy's a method actor, that doesn't help. Hell, look at the long-ass break Gong Yoo took after Goblin, he was so burnt out. Would rather not have a burnt-out Junho
- And good for him for bucking typecasting - flexibility is GOOD for an actor. If all he does is heavy stuff because he's proven he can do it, then how much range could he show/develop?
- Trust him. He was barraged by script offers before TRS was even done airing. He picked this for, I'm sure, several good reasons. Timing may have been a big one, too, since it doesn't start filming till late 2022, let's hope this means a summer comeback
If you don't know idol Junho, go and catch up a bit. He says he's not amazing, he just works hard, but trust ~ he *is* amazing. 💛
- There's also probably an element of wanting to increase the size of his fan base. Most of his fans are ahjummas (based on ticket sales for his fan meeting in January) and a romcom should skew younger, and also, if Netflix picks it up, more international.
For me, this choice feels very strategic from a commercial standpoint, not a critical one. And this is a smart move for him, as he's already proven he's got what it takes to do *anything*
(I've not seen Yoona in anything so I can't comment on her, but after Señorita, I'm excited about her too)
Looks like Chang Hee reached Nirvana today, so to speak (that LP with the baby chasing the money is so on-point for this drama, too. Wonder what Kurt Cobain would think).
That joyride looked nothing short of orgasmic for this liberated boy! The shining light next to his butt was the start of a sequence I never image we'd get in this drama, but holy .. did it make me so happy to see him so full of unadulterated JOY!
here! i got yeongjo vibes, with the deposed brother and factional strife. also the queen's family being persecuted…
Yeah! Her Memoirs are mostly about her seeking to absolve her father, uncle and brothers from conspiratorial charges (her father was accused of providing the chest Sado was put into). It's absolutely tragic, Jeongjo died before he could pardon him and she lived in misery because of it. Jeongjo dying young had so many repercussions.
anyone watching bloody heart?though the plot is different,it's giving me very trs vibes
here! i got yeongjo vibes, with the deposed brother and factional strife. also the queen's family being persecuted reminded me of sado's wife's family. i'm enjoying it, though i have to admit lee joon is no junho, and the main couple in bloody heart so far is not doing it for me after watching ep1. but bring on the politics!

This one is on goddess Mi Jung:

I had trouble loading the live video on the jtbc app, but the http://yjtv365.com/ link worked like a charm, with or without VPN.
This is a good alternative to tiktok, tho I'm not sure they'll have the red carpet on jtbc. Tiktok will definitely have it, starting at 18:10 kst.
