Re music, the Ailee ost sounds exactly the same to me as the main one from The World of the Married, which makes for highly entertaining unintentional comedy every time it plays in this drama.
For me, the plot is SIG's micro expressions and on-screen kissing skills. There's really not much else
And after watching Reply 1988 first (my incursion intro dramas just started a little over 3 yrs ago so I got a lot to catch up on!) I thought I'd pass on 1994 and 1997, 1988 was so good to me, but ngl I'm curious now about 1997. I had a college roommate that was all about H.O.T. as well, so it seems relatable? Ha!
As for 1994, Go Ara and YYS getting shafted are sufficient turn offs.

:D your wall of text is awesome reading, thank you! My takeaway was: jealousy incarnate, diary of a prosecutor, and hs king of savvy. Will look out for them, thanks! Totally with you on GHJ, I liked her in Hit and Run Squad, but my eyes always drifted to Ryu Jun Yeol so what I noticed of her, she was more on the badass side than normal (which is never, in my experience).
Kim Sun Ah was great at first in Sam Soon, then idk wth happened, like GHJ in Hello My Teacher - badass FL who all of a sudden goes all soft for the ML for no good reason, and they totally ruin the character. At least Gong Yoo was cute in that drama, Hyun Bin wasn't all that much to look at in Sam Soon lol

Yes!!! Her character in Wok of Love is one of my favorite FL's! And I thought at first she'd just be a ditz, but wow, she was so fun to watch! I'd love a recommendation from you for another drama of hers. I liked her in My Lovely Sam Soon, but what a strange dynamic she had with HB, it was low key manipulative.
Gong Hyo Jin I've only watched in Hello My Teacher and When the Camellia Blooms, and I'm not impressed either. She has the ability to play strong really well, but then the mousiness over powers anything else on her characterization. It's definitely the characters, but lady, play to your strengths! She should pick better.
Which is the eccentric otp you mention? This is my first time watching him.

Oh I know she's older, the problem is her lack of gravitas. She's cute and adorable, but those aren't great adjectives for this kind of role. Like even when she appears like a grown up, I want to pinch her cheeks and pat her on the head. Lol. It's okay, though, she's not hard to ignore when you got the scene stealer she's partnered with here.
And to be fair, maybe it's how she's being directed, rather than her (lack of) ability, I've only seen her in strong woman do bong soon, and I'm not finding a lot differences in the way she's playing the part.
Another actress I've seen play cutesy but can switch on the gravitas on cue in the same role is Jung Ryeo Won. I adore this woman.
I understand that Myung Hee really doesn't like her dad but she could cut the guy a bit of slack. He walked all…
Not only that, but every time they were getting ready to leave, they'd have to stop and visit someone. Dude, emergency martial law combined with an effective invasion indiscriminately targeting everyone in town, it's either hide or gtfo. By the last one when her dad showed up, I was screaming at my TV.
Wtf is this? Wasnt Joo Dan Tae bankrupt? So Logan who is full of smarts and money died in such a stupid way?SSR…
He mentioned a slush fund, very convenient! He was struggling to get investments before, I guess he always had this hidden for a rainy day? He's so well prepared for emergencies, like needing to escape from a life term in prison lol

Istg it's like he's snacking on her. I wish they'd casted a more mature actress, this actress gives me some weird pubescent vibes that makes the romance a hard sell for me. But he's great eye candy!
Barely 3 minutes from the beginning: Bugs in the nose, hands in the piss, the scriptwriter sends everything she…
It looks like there was a time skip and Yoon Hee was freed, so 3 years? But the kids are still applying to university....??? I start asking myself these questions and I remind myself that trying to find logic, reason, or continuity in this drama just takes away the enjoyment :)
I'm with you, the pace was amazing, this crazy train can't slow down, and I loved the insanity.
If im not wrong, "Just between lovers" is about it too~
The one in JBL is fictionalized, it occurred in 2005, not 1995. But it's based on this real event, rather than actually referenced in the drama like it was here. It was also referenced in When My Love Blooms.
I agree! I think this weekend really did bring my attention. At first I wasnt feeling it I didn't like the maid…
For me, the maid and the young master serve as a tiny rest stop in this highway of childish greed. They're greedy as well, but they're still young and stupid, whereas you expect the other grown ass adults to behave like they're grown ass adults. Awkward is a good word - it was loud and clunky and pointless..? And the tutor is so creepy and uncomfortable to watch for me, I know she won't be written out soon, but I'm looking forward to not seeing her on my screen anymore. Seeing her get put in her place, even if it was by that weirdo, was satisfying to watch and was my turning point with this drama.
I really wasn't sure about this drama during the first 4 episodes, there's only so much depraved decadence I can take without a counterbalance before frustration sets in. The push/pull I was missing finally kicked in this weekend, and this drama has rewarded my patience. Eps 5 and 6 were extremely enjoyable, here's hoping it keeps up!
I am crushing hard on Seo Hyun, beautiful actress, awesome character with her ambitions and sacrifices. Her tearful scene today had me tearing up - I was not expecting to react that way at all.
I finished wok of love yesterday, and all I can say is it's a gift. So many shots of him walking away from the camera, my goodness...
You're absolutely right, they all have their unique charms and allure. This one is awkward yet aggressively handsome - watch his episode of I Live Alone, you'll understand lol.
I first saw him in Chief Kim and was a little shook, then Memory and was a lot shook, and I've been lost since then, forget it. XD I can't wait either :D
It's okay, there's an oppa for every mood. This one hits different, that's for sure. I've binged now 4 dramas of his and now am working through his movies. I usually just watch 1 or 2 additional things with the actors I like before I move on to the next one (because you know there always is a next one lol) but Junho isn't letting go! And lucky us, we get so much content now that he's discharged. !! And YouTube is a veritable rabbit hole for him. Love it/him!
