The actors knows what they are getting themselves into when they sign a BL project and played in it.
Ofcourse there are homophobic people in China that targets certain artists when they played in BL or Bromance projects like we've seen in some previous incident to other actors like how Xiao Zhan(from CQL) was targeted, how Zhan Zhehan(from WOH) was the same, and sadly recently even Tian Xu Ning was targeted where those awful haters go dig up his past and this is so disheartening how there are such people out there....
I don't think they will be blacklisted for playing in BL dramas, but I felt like the more popular a drama is the more easier it will attract those unnecessary toxic people to target the artists and I personally hate those type of people who will go all out to make someone else life a misery by what they're doing but no one is safe from it. They just have to be extra careful. This is why I believe that sometimes not being too popular can be a blessing in disguise!
But I do know that the actors do get lots of love from those who support them in China though.
To me a real fan are those who protects their privacy and not act like stalkers who chase after someone(Zi Yu) at the airport. There are better ways to support and show your love for said actor instead of acting like a stalker and scaring that person by their stalkerish behaviour IMO.
So what WSW wanted was reassurance from Chi Cheng that Chi Cheng loves him and will choose him over his snakes, but he actually had doubts that Chi Cheng would give up his beloved snakes for him.
So this is why that ONE scene is going to be significant to show Wu Suo Wei that in the moment between choosing between his prized snake or saving Wu Suo Wei, he chose to save Wu Suo Wei.
If only Wu Suo Wei knew how much Chi Cheng loves him, to the point that his position in his(Chi Cheng's) heart is already irreplaceable ahh ❤️

How that scene was meant to be portrayed ties into the novel from what I know, and it was to serve as an introduction to Chi Cheng's character for the viewers, that he's not some type of greenflag who will forgive those who deceived or betrayed him.
I think the author intended that scene for two purposes, 1) Showing how Chi Cheng doesn't like those who betray or deceive him and he will get back at them (without mercy) and how he felt about this was further emphasize in the later episodes and 2) Considering how he and Wu Suo Wei started in somewhat similar situation (but he has yet to know) since Wu Suo Wei only got close to Chi Cheng at first because of a misunderstanding and for "revenge" at first, we saw the growth between them in becoming stronger through these episodes, where I felt that even if Chi Cheng founds out the truth about Wu Suo Wei (when that time comes), we saw in that trailer, he was devastated and hurt in the process, yet all he did was just to "end their relationship"....
I believe even if Chi Cheng found out the truth, he will be hurt in the process because he didn't think Wu Suo Wei is this kind of person, just like he said to Wu Suo Wei that he(WSW) is good, and that he's pure, unlike "those people" who knows only to deceive or betray those they love, Chi Cheng feelings of love for Wu Suo Wei is not something that came as an instant thing, yes, he said he wanted to bed him earlier on(at the beginning), but it has developed up to this point that if Wu Suo Wei feel uncomfortable or is not ready, he won't force it on him. Not that he can't, it's that he won't because he cares for Wu Suo Wei and because he loves him. This is a big step for him considering what was revealed about his past.
So even if he finds out the truth, he won't do that to Wu Suo Wei like what he did to that person who deceived and betrayed him at that beginning scene, because this was a comparison to highlight to the viewers between the two scenes that Wu Suo Wei is different(to Chi Cheng). He will be hurt by Wu Suo Wei, yes, he will even consider ending things with him, because deception and betrayal is not something he can take lightly, and this is just who he is, but at the end of the day, this is the type of person the writer wants to portray him to be.
Those who continue to watch this drama is not someone who agree with what took place in that ganger*pe at the beginning, but we just understood the context what lead to that scene for it to happen because of what that person did to him. Not that we don't agree there is a better, healthier way to handling the situation, but what's done is done, why hold on such feeling and let it ruin the entire drama?
I can't speak for everyone in here but for me personally, despite I felt that gangr*pe scene was a bit too far, but because of that scene, I felt like it served a purpose in the story how Wu Suo Wei is different to Chi Cheng when the story develops and what I look forward to is the character developments individually and them as a pairing, and how they will move forward and become a healthier person at the end of all this.
No one is perfect. If people dont like that scene or cant get that scene out of their mind then that is fine, since that is their offputting part that puts them off but dont come in here to judge others for appreciating and enjoying this BL drama because everyone is different.
To me, that scene did served a purpose whether you understood the intent from the writer or not because it gives an introduction to Chi Cheng's character that he is not your typical green flag ML, if you don't like those character then no one is forcing you to watch it. For us, we saw another side to Chi Cheng which we like and enjoy when it comes to his love/feelings for WSW as seen up to the latest episodes. And that is why the beginning scene is important because it was intended to show a difference to how he behaves to those he doesn't care about compared to those he come to love/care about.
WSW is such a tsundere, I love how he said he didn't have plans to really buy CC anything, and how he said he will just go in to 'check it out and won't buy', but we always know its never going to work out as planned 😂 and he ends up buying the present for CC, I bet CC wasn't expecting it but he's happy nonetheless because as long as it is from WSW, he will cherish it on his end
As we can see with his sugar figurine, those bag of corns that he won't share with anyone.
I really love these two and looking forward to see what they'll developed when the story progresses.
You know when Chi Cheng revealed to Wu Suo Wei that anyone can be mad at him, except Wu Suo Wei, because it is when Wu Suo Wei is mad at him is when he(Chi Cheng) feel panic.
I really think this speaks a lot, although not directly telling Wu Suo Wei he loves him yet, but what Chi Cheng said here, shows that to him(Chi Cheng), only Wu Suo Wei can affect his emotions like this, because he cares how Wu Suo Wei feels, and obviously because he loves him to this extent already
Despite I don't like those Yue Yue with Chi Cheng scenes, but it is also because of these scenes that I can see the difference how Chi Cheng is like when he's in front of WSW (the person he loves) when compared to his "girlfriend", which feels like a third wheel lol
You know they have chemistry when just a simple gesture of Wu Suo Wei putting on the belt for Chi Cheng, like that whole scene literally made me fangirl lol 😍😍 the tension is real!

One thing you need to note that while there are times when Chi Cheng is forceful at the earlier stages, but you can evidently see in the later episodes that if Wu Suo Wei is not ready, and he doesn't want to do it yet, Chi Cheng doesn't force this on him, not because he couldn't, its that he doesn't want to "force" this on the person he loves/cares about if he's (Wu Suo Wei) is not ready, because by that time Chi Cheng already 'head over hills' in love with Wu Suo Wei and he came to care about Wu Suo Wei feelings in all this.
But without spoiling the later episodes for you, you will see that there are those situations where Chi Cheng really shows a gentle side towards Wu Suo Wei, and this (for me) really does make the wait worth it when that time comes.
