Done watching.Although Last episodes were underwhelming, The ending is satisfactory & not rushed at All. It's a very well made drama, but not a masterclass script at all. The ideas were repetitive, yet well sorted out mostly. The writer was probably torn between making it a plot driven show or a character driven show, in the end It's the characters who won. I was skeptical about Lead Actor's performance as i heard constructive criticisms about his Acting on some other project, but honestly, Xiao Zhan carried his character extremely well with perfect composure & demeanor. The last scene moved me when Zang hai is leaving the Capital & remembering his own self years ago entering into Capital gate with Vengeance & uncertainty, he came a long way ever since & now leaving like he never even belonged. Truly, A 'Legend' of Zang hai.
Most of the supporting Cast did great as well, Camera work & direction is masterclass,Action scenes were too good, Some Costumes seemed custom-made, Specially the Imperial astronomer Bureau's Blue robes, The filming sets & the artifacts made for this drama regarding geomancy are praiseworthy. Another very personal praise from me, Amongst all these white washed make-up & idol-styling of most historical dramas in recent Years, this one Stands out with very natural styling and bare minimum Make-up of the Actors, On that regard, it was a pleasant experience to watch this drama. A Genuinely good Acting performance don’t need multiple layers of cakey foundation to bring out the best character experience for the audience. Skills & efforts over Face card haha.
By the way, who became the Emperor? i thought it'd be Prince YongRong,but turned out it's a cutie pie instead lol.Apart From all the things screaming high-budget,Dongxia's CGI mountains & Fields looked too fake, It's just obvious those are green screened shoots.Last Arc was the weakest in the plot,but i absolutely loved zhuang zhixing and zang hai together in the end racing on their ways to the capital horse riding side-by-side. At least their bond STAYED,even after going through all the thick & thins, betrayals battles & hardships.
Not a rewatchable show,but a one-time great watch.
i am too fool. After all these episodes, on ep 33 when Kuai Duo is finally seen in the flashbacks of his younger days clean shaved, then only i realized the actor is my decade old crush Wallace Chung!! i already thought since the beginning what a perfect Acting zhinu's father did but i didn’t even check the cast list,can't believe myself,how many years it has been that I'm watching him in a drama again!!?
So Cao Gonggong is still alive after taking 4 bolts shot in the back and a sword piercing like THAT, but Antu's Mother only got 2 bolts, one in the back and one in front but died immediately. This whole Lantern festival planning was stupid, he's colluding with Queen of Dongxia now, have Guanfeng & shilei, and Xiang Antu's zhen tower also has numerous killers to do their job,It's just too absurd they didn’t well prepare & got outnumbered and lost to Cao's small number of people,lost the seal, The Queen even died. The ordinary script is back. i wonder if ep 1-10 and then ep 30 onwards is written by another writer, other than 11-29 which were absolutely brilliant.
On Ep 31 ,the misunderstandings are solved between the leads now & they're together, there is a short kissing scene too,but honestly, Romance has really been the weakest part of this drama.i mean the developments initially was good,the dynamic was enjoyable at first,but It's kinda not convincing after that, the writing feels short in this aspect. There was no further development of their relationship after she killed Lu Jin & the head over heels feelings for each other is not quite believable. i thought they'd start working together at some point but she just got locked up for so long.
I totally knew Zhuang zhixing lied when he told zang hai the 3rd enemy is Queen of Dongxia, but i really didn’t expect they'd pull a old possible lovers plot between Kuai Duo & The Queen.
I am so disgusted by Chinese people how they treat Zhou dongyu like whenever u will see her post all the comments…
Sometimes i wish i never got to know about how C-Ent actually Works, about these fandom Cultures, hate trains & wish i could just peacefully watch dramas without knowing about any of this. It's just...disgusting. There's always this nasty fights among fandoms, personal attacks, crazy hates towards actors & actresses which Knows no limits, like how low can people be to be openly body shaming an artist like that?then there's Black marketing to stir up these negative fights,sabotaging one artist's drama to make way for another, Talent is almost nonexistent compared to traffics,and that sometimes goes to extent of legal disputes & damages & ruin an Actor's entire career as well ! For all the years i had following various country's films,dramas & entertainments across the world, i don't think I've ever encountered any crazier & messier industry like C-Ent..

The novel is very good so far, same tone & vibe like the drama. i haven’t finished reading it yet.
