Its ridiculous. He would have been killed dead just for carrying a knife into a meeting with an emperor, regardless…
After this ridiculous court scene, I'm curious to know how'll the writer develop the later surrender part of wuyue when in real qian hongchu basically was forced to give up his territory after he got locked in his region from all sides. i hope we don’t roll our eyes out loud just we did in this episode lol

This Jingzhou (泾州) was in Gansu province, not Hubei's Jingzhou (荆州).
Thanks a lot !!! ( i should've looked at the screen to see the spelling instead of just listening haha)

That totally solved all confusions of me regarding Zhang yanze's Army bcz Zhangyi Army (彰義 in history) was really headquartered in modern day Pingliang of Gansu Province, & now i checked, jingchuan of pingliang was named Jīngzhōu back then...So Zhangyi army was basically army near south-western border of Later Jin Dynasty, not very far from the Capital kaifeng, but far from the frontlines Hedong & Hebei.

I was really impressed about how he maneuvered around the Khitan and the court politics.
Small Parts of the dialogues we watched between Khitan Emperor and Feng dao were actually how exactly It's explicitly written in history. it gave me goosebumps how brilliantly these lines were delivered, can't praise Actor Dong Yong Enough.

well maybe It'll sound like I'm nitpicking, but while Rewatching ep 1 bcz i was confused about some matters, i realized It's stated twice that Zhang Yanze's Zhangyi Army is stationed at "Jingzhou"...Historically, Jingzhou region (modern day hubei province) was not part of Later Jin Dynasty, but rather an independent small state , one of the 10 Kingdoms called Nanping Kingdom. as Jingzhou was the Capital of another autonomous Kingdom, how can an army base of later jin Dynasty be stationed there?

Personally one of the things I really liked about this drama was CMH and Yong U's friendship. They were so wholesome…
same opinion here!

I agree with you there. Playing self righteous is never an easy task for fear it can backfire when, as you said…
I doubt the Overacting part is intended to be that way, but the poor character development better be intentional, bcz One moment he's stabbing zhang yanze and being so self aware with righteousness uttering sophisticated speech among ministers , the next moment he's saying "I Don't wanna get involved in these matters, just wanna be a live in son in-law of huanglong island" "who's going to be the ruler of central plains have nothing to do with me" if It's not intentional, that's a real problem of the script

So I just finished episode 6 and Bai Yu's acting really seems kind of forced, maybe it's because the script tries…
I already had a problem with the court scene of ep 6 that you mentioned (the outburst of Qian Hongchu), His Acting on that scene was subpar but when i watched that episode i thought It's maybe the character's dialogues which is not well written but as the episodes go by, it seems like problem is on both sides. The 'events' follow history, while the 'characters' are written fictionally for most parts. Instead of writing them with depth & consistency, screenwriter focused on Writing them on 'grandiose' manner as you mentioned, same thing he applied not only for male lead but for some other characters too, among them only sang guoqiao made sense so far.

Zhu ya wen & Yu Hao Ming really outsmarted Bai Yu in their roles. i never knew this actor of guo rong,he's…
if this goes on & there's a problem in portraying the layers & emotions of the Main character, idk what outcome the ending purpose of the story would bring, as the drama is made to glorify his surrendering of wuyue territory in the unification process in later years, & now the initial arc of the drama is over, liu zhiyuan is about to found fourth of the five dynasties, later han Dynasty. & the script has started to focus on Qian hongchu's journey more.

Zhu ya wen & Yu Hao Ming really outsmarted Bai Yu in their roles. i never knew this actor of guo rong,he's really good! This feng dao,hu jin si, shuiqiu zhaoquan, shi chonggui's Actors & most of the other Veteran actors are also sooo Natural in their roles That i find Baiyu's Acting really forced (specially at ep 11, i didn't quite feel what I'm supposed to feel by that court scene of khitan Emperor) Female lead is also lacking but She's by far not getting enough screentime so It's not that visible.

who's lady chu? that kid's mother, who was supposed to be the emperor that was taken away from the palace when…
According to real history, she must be the biological mother of shi yanxu (one of the grandsons of shi jingtang & shi chonggui raised him as his eldest son), technically member of the imperial shi family, and shi chonggui's aunt... that cruel beast zhang yanze in history coveted her for her Beauty & forced her after his rebel army took the city.

Later Jin dynasty ever since It's founding was already a puppet state of the Liao dynasty (khitans), that infamous…
I was so Curious to know about the end of this fool in history that i paused the episode & went to check out some records, it seems like Liao Emperor Yelü Deguang was generous enough not to execute Shi Chonggui right then & there, Instead, he demoted Shi Chonggui to the title of "Marquis of Unrighteousness" / " Unfaithful Marquis " (the title itself is hilarious Enough LOL 🤣) & removed him from staying in central plains & exiled him to Liao Dynasty with his whole family & fool gang. He died there 18 years later.

Don't know whether I'll watch this happen in next episodes, I'm moving pretty much tooo slowly with these episodes requiring full attention & preventing me from multitasking

Lol Did this dumbass just try committing suicide now? 🤣

(just checked real history & he really did try unaliving himself, this drama took historical accuracy on another level lmao)

Later Jin dynasty ever since It's founding was already a puppet state of the Liao dynasty (khitans), that infamous founding Emperor Shi Jingtang, was known as "儿皇帝" ( "Son Emperor") because he recognized khitan Emperor Yelü Deguang as his 'father emperor', submitting to him in order to gain Khitan support.

I find the decision of Shi Chonggui's "Restoration of independence" from khitans quite laughable, when he Himself just ascended to the throne 'not quite legitimately' & the Empire itself was built only 6 something years ago with the support of khitans,Now having a hostile attitude towards Liao Dynasty and starting wars with them at that time?what did it bring except only the sufferings of common people of the state?shouldn’t he be more strategic and gain enough strength & power before making such a decision?!

If you liked the DID part, then "Hyde, jekyll,me" or "Kill me,heal me", i watched them some years…
This is Kim Seon Ho's only second role that i loved wholeheartedly,( after 'Start Up'..)....since 'you drive me crazy' (probably from 2018), i watched & struggled to finish many dramas of him (Dropped waikiki , almost dropped hometown cha cha cha), but i categorize him as a hard working Actor, if not a very talented one.He is a lot improved now. Earlier last year he was good in WLGYT too. When i was watching some interviews of Go youn jung & him for this drama, i couldn’t help but appreciate his efforts for Joo Hojin's characterization.. learning & speaking 4/5 languages and Acting them on screen was a challenge to begin with.

Any Drama suggestions similar to this?
If you liked the DID part, then "Hyde, jekyll,me" or "Kill me,heal me", i watched them some years back, & loved them both very dearly...If i watched them in recent times, Maybe I wouldn’t really like them as much to rate them sooo high, but definitely worth watching. Back in the days, Hyun Bin & Ji sung's level of Actors set such standards in my brain that i rarely find today's mediocre acting of idol Actors enjoyable.

Personally this drama's approach and themes reminded me of "It's okay not to be okay", if you haven’t watched that already, It's highly recommended.

The personal visit to the central kingdom, and participating in the defence of Kaifeng most probably is fictional.…
Although Qian Hongchu's journey to central plains with the Wuyue delegation in the drama is fictional, Qian Hongchu, Guo Rong, & Zhao Kuangyin were actually close to each other in real history too. In 946 , Qian Hongchu, around 20 years old, arrived in Bianliang (Kaifeng). Just at that time, the Khitan besieged the city, and he, along with Guo Rong & Zhao Kuangyin, were trapped in there. During this time, 3 of them shared hardships and spent an unforgettable period together & became close..

This is why, when ZKY became emperor, Qian Hongchu had absolute confidence that as long as he and his people of wuyue submitted to ZKY, the entire Wuyue region would be free from the turmoil of war.
