I went to research a little this time period since I know very little about it and damn Prince HongZou ascended…
China has a history of Emperors ascending to thrones at age 1,2,3 too 😭 All of these were basically regencies until the monarchs come of age...King Hongzou's Regent was Cao Zhongda
Was Hong You/ Sun Ben really a character in history?
yes, Qian Hongyou was third son (& one of the adopted sons) of King Qian Yuanguan, originally named Sun Ben, was given the title "Marquis of Xi'an"..... but later after Qian Yuanguan's death, he was stripped off his title & imprisoned, demoting his rank to commoner, & Forced to take back his birth surname sun
Historical Fiction. The script follows major historical events from Late five Dynasty period to Early Northern Song Dynasty , Most of the main & supporting characters are real historical figures
After months, I'm finally done reading the book...i Don't remember when the last time i read a novel with so much…
Changing only some minor details,i was actually low-key surprised to realize that The untamed didn’t make any major significant change in the storyline & stayed truthful to It's original Novel.. I'm very much used to reading Chinese novels and watching their adaptations but this is the best one in my mind so far, the best ever live adaptation to exist of any original source material. Another interesting thing i found while reading, i was imagining drama actors in my mind when i first started reading mdzs, but then as i continued, they've started to fade away & the book gave so much depth to the story that i unintendedly became so invested to it, in certain scenes, watching the drama earlier helped to imagine some sort of things in more details... one scene at the ending volume left me with a complicated emotion, when Jin Guangyao 'died', Jin Ling Thought of his childhood memories when Jin Guangyao gifted him 'fairy', tears started to roll down from his eyes as he realized he Couldn't hate wei ying, wen Ning or even jin guangyao in the end, even if they all were partly responsible for his parents death..the fact that jin ling in the end felt like "they all had their reasons" and helplessly cried as he couldn’t blame or hate anyone of them anymore reminded me of wei ying's line earlier, "One day You'll say Those words 'Thank you' & 'Sorry' with tears in your eyes"...
(my emotions are all over the place,I'm probably writing gibberish lol)
After months, I'm finally done reading the book...i Don't remember when the last time i read a novel with so much anticipation, intoxication and laughter. The last time i got so involved & moved by a story was probably more than 10 years ago. I'm left with so much questions, how did the writer come up with a grand story like this?how did she manage to make the characters sooo complex that made the readers feel for the most inferior characters to some emotional extent? how did she manage to write such a profound love story with so much depth, warmth & yearnings? In the end, there was no absolute evil, nor there was absolutely pure characters at all. I'm actually at a loss of words rn, I'll not be able to part with the characters or the story anytime soon, probably never...
Does anyone know what temple they filmed at -- the one that FL visits a few times?
i forgot about "few times"... but if you wanna know about the one that she visited with her 2 colleagues in Shanghai (lin yusen dropped them off in his car) in ep 6, that's 地藏古寺/ Dizang Ancient Temple, located in Songjiang district of Shanghai
(my emotions are all over the place,I'm probably writing gibberish lol)
