I don't hate him. He really had no choice but to marry the princess. All of that is understandable.

It's how he treated the Qinghong that is disappointing. He should tell her. He can make time to tell her. He could have sent a letter, he could have sent his sister to tell her. He's a skilled fighter he could have left the palace easily. He had to be told by the ML to tell her. His wife might have stopped him the one night, but he had month before that to tell her. The truth was he was avoiding her.

We are being shown the weakness in his character.

I feel a lot of pity for the SML. He was never going to win the girl, but he was her first love and he betrayed her on the worst day of her life.

If he decides to give in and make a go with it with his wife, I would lose all respect for his character. I think for him to love his wife, she will need a lot of character growth (with a dosage of unbearable suffering - I mean several episode worth). If he does work with Wulin to expose the PM then it's more in keeping with the upright hero he wanted to be at the start of the series.

Ep. 20 he was really emotional and angry. I think he's playing the character as it was defined for him. I agree he gets type casted a lot , but he's better in this drama. It's a nice use of his subtlety.

I feel bad for Alan because people come into the series with low expectations for him. But honestly I am enjoying his performance.

I appreciated that too. It was really refreshing. I hope they keep her character that way. It makes her really cool.

I don't know, I do know before marrying her SML cared about her as a friend and sister. But it's hard for me to imagine loving someone who threatens your family to marry you. She's very selfish, and stupid. I am not being mean, she is being misguided by her grandfather and her maid a lot. She's not a character that is told "No!" a lot. The only good thing about her is she does care about the health of her husband, but not so much about his feelings or happiness.

Goodness with the subs: I now know how much she was cheated: 2 million yuan! My understanding of Chinese is poor. I thought she only lost some rent money (which is still bad). Her cousin is pretty unbelievable.

SML is definitely spineless. I mean I feel really sorry for him but he should have told the FL, he had no choice. He should have told her personally.

As for the princess - I know there are clips of him warming up to her. I don't know how to read it. Maybe he just caves in. Maybe he's pretending, or maybe it's real. For sure the SML will be a tragic character. But I definitely don't want the Princess to go unpunished. I am cruel enough that the SML can die if it will make the Princess suffer. But I would rather he betrays her very badly, and causes her endless suffering. Or the FL can do it. But she's too nice, most likely it's the ML (he has just enough diabolical character that he can make sure justice is served.)

Side note - ep. 20 really like the disciple of the FL. His reaction to the wedding was just perfect. "I could kill you but it would cause my master more trouble"

One thing I will say, I very curious how the Prime Minister and the Princess will end. Will they get their just desserts? Because they are both pretty awful.

My hope is the PM is stripped of his power and made to feel as helpless and powerless as he has made the SML feel.

As for the Princess, I hope her marriage is short, and cold. She's so stupid. It's hard to imagine a worthy future for her. Maybe in the future the SML gains power and ends up marrying more wives and the Princess is barren and stripped of her power because of her connection to the prime minister.

ep 18 - just made me angry and sad

I do too, the best friend is very bad with communication. She's always storming off, and not listening to the other party. At this point she needs to stop dating. She's too immature.

My hope is the clips are just messing with us. Like they fight, maybe he leaves the firm, but they don't break up, maybe he has to work abroad or something and that's the reason for the time skip, but they are still a couple.

I hope they can been less cliché and not breakup. Couples can fight and not break up...It's just sad for ML who waited 10 years only to be with her for a short period and then separate again.

The doctor lady and the general are nice side couple. So are the maid and the disciple. I am really rooting for them.

The clips are misleading, but I think he either does it twice or the real deal happens at ep 24.

Yes, a lot happens. It's all in the clips. BTW I think its the ML that doesn't send the letters of the FL to the SML...(sneaky on his part). But the worse is the SML doesn't tell her he's married. She has to find out from strangers.

They threatened to kill his entire clan, if he didn't follow the emperors edict to marry the princess. The princess and the Prime Minister must have asked the emperor to make the command.

iqiyi released a lot of clips today for episodes 15-24 if people want spoilers.

He was great as manipulative brother in “All out of love” but the show is very long. He’s nice in “Eternal love “ but his part is small. I liked his character in “Unstoppable Youth” but the FL was too annoying to me. I understand why people feel he’s stiff but I can also see he is type casted a lot. He gets stuck playing sickly characters. Anyways this isn’t a dramatic character but I am enjoying the smart personality he’s playing.
