100% He didn't even stand ground when Bichkock talked lowly of Daze mountain, it was A Yin who defended the memory of her home while ML was silent for every single thing.
He was NOT in the weak position, he was NOT made to do the decisions he made, he was NOT confused about the truth. He was just an egotistic cowardly wimp, he waited for A Yin to make the decision to be punished, he shamelessly waited for her to agree so he could take the easiest move without too much regret that it was all on him. He will never admit that but it was evident from his actions or the lack of the , he is a weak person that knows only how to control and own the people he "loves" as if they are objects.
A Yin was always the stronger of the two, the better one and he again waite on her to kneel before him devastated. I think at this point he finds pleasure to be the hidden "hero" in his mind, to say to himself how he makes conpromises and chooses "lesser" evils. What he did when he destroyed her home was 100 times worse than what Hua Shu did to her or what her father wanted to do to her and he did it with the sick thought that he again does it for her own good. It was utterly disgusting and lowly. He took everything away from her and why....to make her a prisonere in a world of his choice, to keep her as a subservient pet so he never looses her to others, not giving her the right to choose how to even die.

So Peackock abd anyone knows what to say, even if stupid and irrelevant backed by nothing, but the true god even though he has the authority, power and truth and facts behind him - he still lacks the honour to protect the one he loves? Wasnt he The King of Protection - where is he when he is most needed and has to say a few words and make final decision? Whoo took his power - the mass? The nass just as easily follows words of a nobody but he thinks they wouldnt follow his words, the words of their ruler, the one they bowed down to just an ep ago? Despite starting different than the million old cold dudes, his actions and behaviour turned out pretty similar to theirs - he IS now just as cold and controlling, he IS behaving the way they did in the older dramas - lack of communication, respect for the other person's right to be a part of the relationship(or even a full participant in the world around), lack of expression of thoughts ans feelings is still this drama's leads (more so the ML)main problem as it used to be before.
Despite looking somewhat different it basically turned out it's the same formula and we again have that cold man that knows it all, just he turned out like that earlier in his life/career path ans not in million years. We may see his growth later but...traditional MLs from older xianxias also had growth later so....same thing. We shall see

Since I have a favourite character, yeah - a tragic ending. I am actually not waiting with excitement for second season....wish they would change things but I guess they won't.
Okay, 16th episode and they still haven't reached the state of An...last few episodes had subplots I really didn't care about and felt was not needed.
Whole abduction of the princess thing from that scoubdrel she "loved".....so unpleasant to watch teenagers being dumb just for princess to have a realisation after she already had her moments of maturing, we really didnt need another one to show us she changed (also the death of the mother was so quick and out of nowhere, not sure if there was a big point to it to introducing the characterfor a few seconds just so FL can have a reason to hate and be devastated for a little while). This drama sonetines really likes to take its prescious time adding things upon things without actually moving ahead .
At least at the end of the episode there is Li Tonguang - he had to come because apparently they can never reach that out-of-space for them state 😑🙄 It's about time we move on to major things, last few were def not their strongest episodes, wish it wouldn't drag in the future. The delegation should finally reach destination and make way for what it was travelling to since ep. 1!
40 episodes really are a lot for dramas, best plots are those that take no more than 24, just enough for essential storytelling without too much distractions - they are able to convey meanings not just in a more concise matter but also to make them more powerful when reaching the viewers
