Kinda tragic, "you left me and now you won't let me leave you/die." tbh though if she had done it quietly behind his back, he prolly won't know, like taking a poison or sth or even slitting her wrist behind his back. Unless the maid by her side is his spy. But then if she did that we won't have any drama to watch, LOL. And of course she had to do it in his face to let him know how much she was hurting.

yup, I know the novel puts him in a more cruel light and it's been downplayed here, to show his humane side which is prolly more suited for TV, else the ratings would have been quite bad I can imagine.

yup, it's true to her character. She's always been strong willed. Even when he pushed her away, she was still level headed. Even when she confronted him about killing He Liu, it was in such a factual manner, no tantrums, no tears. These are the facts, and this is how I feel about you now. And when she was going to give it all up, she didn't write to him, she wrote to the Emperor instead, knowing that the Emperor would inform Sifu. It was her indirect way of protesting.

tbh, as much as I hate it...The Emperor marrying Hai Shi is one of the safest ways to keep her alive. Sifu must have found out that Prince Chang knows....and that will be used as a wedge btwn him and the Emperor. Imagine the entire court officials protesting: 'one disciple attempts to kill the Emperor and turns rougue' and 'the other disciple lied about her gender' - both of which are huge crimes against the Emperor. Just as one has been settled with his demotion, the other is presented and becomes a charged up affair. The Emperor will be pressured to either banish/kill/ punish Hai Shi and of course the Sifu because he knew about it all along and kept it from the Emperor. Even if Sifu isn't concerned about himself, he won't want anything to happen to her. So, for him, this is the only rationale move. I believe if he had asked her, she would rather take her own life than be married to the Emperor but this is where again Sifu makes the call and decides to take measures in his own hands.

yah, for once he panicked. Could see that as he immediately wrote the 'marriage vows' and though I know he's always had his rationale reasons for doing things, I'm 200% all for what she did to him and said to him, throwing the document back at him and telling him not to think so poorly of her, that she would need him to make amends in such a manner. I just wish they had not cut the scene like that, and we would have seen her response after he back hugged her. I suppose we won't be able to see what happens next from that scene, and it will cut to the next scene, sigh. rather unsatisfying watching that part....

After watching Stand By Me, I now look at dramas and their direction with distrust....meaning I second-guess what they show me and always have this idea that what I see is not the truth/reality. To the point when Sifu confessed he loved Hai Shi, I felt like telling her you should tell him "How do I know this is for real? That this isn't one of your ploys?" Seriously after all the fleece that's been pulled over her eyes, I kind of think she wouldn't quite trust him anymore. Which is why when she got the wedding vows (so to speak) she didn't believe he did it out of love and got very upset with him. Poor girl!

not only that, there's a scene where she's floating on the water in the indoor pool/bath tub?, prolly unconscious for whatever reason and Sifu wades into the water to save her. Frankly looking at the latest preview, he's still gonna quietly protect her despite asking the Emperor to marry her. At least in the latest scene, she's smiling quietly because I think she's accepted her situation and is making the best of it. Still going all out to protect Sifu and the Emperor/empire (floor relief scene). That will be Wed's episode...

that's so funny! I think he's made a much greater mark on me here than in PB. But then again, all he did was hang around Zhe Yan and occasionally give Feng Jiu advice.

Thanks for the explanation. Though I doubt Hai Shi is going let him near her with a 10 foot pole. If the trailers are true, even the Emperor feels that Sifu has gone overboard the way he's treating her....

well, we might be trolled again, u know how they put together the scenes right??? What you see isn't what you get.

there was a video on YT, probably a prediction of what's to happen, which says that they end up having this trio-like relationship, where the Emperor keeps a blind eye to someone from his harem having a relationship of sorts with another man, and they often hold meetings about the country's state of affairs. Eventually there's political unrest again, and Hai Shi puts on her coat of armour and goes to battle again. She also uses her power as concubine to send Zhe Liu to Zhuo Ying in his home country. Something to this effect anyways...

it's done intentionally to make him look like the sad, lonely figure, whose only way to show his affections for her is to save/protect her. He can't buy her flowers, take her to meals or do the things that guys would do when courting a girl, so this is the only way we get to see how much he cares for her. Besides, it would be inappropriate behaviour if he did anything else, do remember he is her master and she is his disciple after all.

spoil me pls, what happened to Hai shi in the novel? I saw her in the 'bath tub' come indoor pond and I think sifu going to save her (again). And then a battle scene where she falls off the horse.
