I am guessing from the viewing schedule, if you look at it, they've put candy icons and sad-faced emojis and daggers. So I think they won't troll us for E45-46 (it's full of candies) but for E47-48, it's full of sad-faced emojis and daggers (and as the episodes continue, the number of sad-faced emojis increase, this was max level). It may be trolling us but if we choose to believe, then it could be telling of the ending.

A prince staged a rebellion and the Emperor and the Master had to fight tooth and nail to defend the kingdom against this prince. Sifu made a decision that inadvertently caused the death of the Empress and unborn baby, she was probably killed in the heat of battle. The Emperor also suffered a near fatal injury, to save him and in part to repay him for the death of his beloved, he evoked a 'spell' of sorts, they are bound to each other, so any injury that the Emperor suffers, will be passed on physically to Sifu. It's calle Bai Xi in the drama, it's completely fictional of course. It's also part of the Fang family and Emperor relationship/responsibility; for every Emperor, someone in the Fang family has been the Bai Xi.

Erh I am not sure if the word some in reference to angst is going to cut it, maybe quite a lot. Based on the novel, I think the Sifu pushes Hai Shi to the emperor and reveals her identity/gender to the Emperor. In doing so, he thinks it's the best move, as the Emperor can protect her whereas he can't with his oath and the magical bond with the Emperor. In the novel, she ends up entering the harem, being extremely resentful of the Sifu, bears the Emperor's child and the Sifu dies. I hope the drama doesn't follow this to a tee.

I also thought I read somewhere before it premiered that she was a mermaid, but that's not the case. Till E14, we don't know the significance of the mermaid and what the symbol on her hand will do for her.

As for why the wounds on the Emperor are transferred to Fang Zhu's body, it's something mystical, like they are bonded together (in the drama it's called bai xi). So, whenever the Emperor is inflicted a wound, Fang Zhu is the one who physically takes over the wound on his own body. Don't look for a logical explanation, it's part of the story's plot.

I was watching a YouTuber's comments about the ending, of course, I hope it's not true, and what was narrated is based on the novel and hopefully doesn't foreshadow the drama. If anyone has read the novel, is it true that he sends her to the Emperor's side as a way to protect her, and he is the one who reveals her gender? In the novel, she eventually becomes pregnant with the Emperor's son and becomes the Empress? The Sifu eventually dies.

Well, they could have some metaphorical meaning when they chose the mermaid's name. Saving her from being murdered by the father and the sharks and sending her back to land, if we choose to look at it is the 'blessed land'.

I suppose her steely determination and spirit may have something in common with Zi Zan, and I suppose in the drama, dressed as a female, she's supposed to be quite a beauty to behold? Also, there are traits about her that are quite admirable if you think about it, she's smart, able to do the things better than most men that most women typically won't touch with a 10-foot pole (archery, horse riding, swordsmanship, strategy, politics) and she would be someone who can fight shoulder to shoulder with the Emperor. Really, not the typical sort of woman I would say. The complete opposite of Zi Zan or Ti Lan's feminity.

Ok, so i've gone on Baidu Encyclopaedia to find out the meaning of this word 琅缳, pronounced as Lang Huan. In Chinese myths and legends, it refers to a place where the Emperor of Heaven collects books or the location where these collection of books are kept, and can also mean "Blessed land"

Zhuo Ying / Duo Han / Duo Luo are the names of the characters played by this actor. One actor playing 3 roles, Zhuo Ying, we know oredi, either Duo Han or Duo Luo are his other name, while one belongs to the twin brother we saw in E14.

This actor has the following characters names: Zhuo Ying / Duo Han / Duo Luo - Duo Han and Duo Luo are the twins, one would be Zhuo Ying's other name and one is the twin brother we saw in E14, of course he has to play both characters in the drama.

I think he's never quite given any thought as to why he's been extra protective of her. It's easy to just blame it on their master-disciple relationship. Up until the point she kissed him and if not mistaken he actually hesitated for a while and let her kiss him, before he pushed her away, when reality came crashing down (but of course it was in the water, and hard to decipher). And then the way she told him about how she and Zhuo Ying have prevented him from starting his own family (her words and emotions), about keeping his distance lest she says/ does something improper, all those words triggered some realisations in him. It was really heart-wrenching to watch, all the more knowing she's putting up such a brave front. I guess if she had crawled to a corner to cry, it would have been less painful to watch. But knowing that she's bottling it all up and trying her best not to let it get to her...

I though I read somewhere she was a mermaid who got saved. LOL
Until I watched E01, and realised that's not the case.

was this because you read the novel or you were privy to the preview? Just watched the ending last night and it turned out as you described,

I don't believe she has had any physical entanglements with the Emperor but I stand corrected if indeed it was something I missed out. Prior to her losing her memory, she definitely did not as she told her maid that she doesn't want to give him any false hopes. Accepting the Empress' title was so that her son would have a registry to his name, otherwise he would be sort of like an illegitimate child.

And after her memory was locked up by the so-called poison, there hasn't been any incidences to indicate she did anything with him (yet). Technically, she didn't lose her memory, it's been locked up. The poison was concocted by the concubine, the woman from another country who was head over heels in love with the Emperor. By activating the poison, the Emperor can dictate what memory gets locked up. However, if she recovers her memories or has flashbacks etc, the Emperor suffers side effects of pain and ill health. Thus, in concocting the poison, the concubine saw it as payback to the Emperor for not reciprocrating her affections/love for him and for treating her so coldly. I don't know if the poison will cause the FL to have any side effects other than dizziness and headaches (as depicted so far), possible there will be for both parties. And since her memory was locked up, she can only recall the time when she was besties with the Emperor and cannot understand how she ended up being his wife. But she has taken it in good faith that the fall caused her memory loss. In the last episode, when the Emperor tried to kiss her, she was hesitant, so this leads us as viewers to believe that she isn't physically attracted to him. And I think if the plot goes, she won't. But whether there are any unintended bedscenes with the Emperor, is left to be seen in upcoming episodes. My gut feel tells me it won't make sense for the story to, not at this point anyway with only 6 more episodes to go.

if a video on YT has any truth to it, I don't think the ending is sad. But the journey that has taken for us as viewers to reach the ending, will tend to make us feel that the story is too tragic, there's too much despair and the characters appear too much at the mercy of destiny/fate with very little empowerment to change what they are faced with. So if you want lots of noble idiocy, angst, helplessness, ignorance about the truth compounded with plot-driven misunderstandings, then this drama is your cup of tea.

only a very short section right in E01 and after that the fact that she's from the modern times doesn't contribute much to the plot. Not like some stories where the time traveller uses his/her ingenuity to solve problems etc
