Do I need to watch Eternal Love 1 and 2 to watch this? I tried to watch 1 but I could t get into it but I want…
Yes. Because there’s a lot of body swapping “logic” and shared memories shown in S3 that you won’t understand unless you watch S1 and S2. Also if you didn’t get past S1 ep 15 then I don’t think you’ll like S3 because it might not just be your cup of tea.
PS. Ignore the poor cinematography, costume, and visual fx in S1 because they have limited budget. They get better budget in S2 & S3.
Currently on ep8 on WeTV app and I’m loving that almost every episode there’s skinship and the fight scenes are epic! No budget wasted! PS. I’m seeing a lot of Love by Hypnotic cast, I hope this is a hint from the production team that their testing if they can do S2 of that drama!
The Empress, she's Tan'er from s1!!The Tan'er who vanished end s1, and wasn't a part of s2, which had the Tan'er…
I finished up to ep8, I think empress Tan’er(S1) will merge with Princess Tan’er (S2/S3) when she “dies” and pass on the throne. So they will complete the cycle. MLC S1/S2 is in the current S3 MLC body. I think the parallel universe here works similar to that Jet Li film where there can only be 1 instance of a person per dimension. So if a time traveller appears he suffers physically and needs to either die or merge with the other self.
Really, i alwYs liked her previous dramas...i hav actually watched most of her work. The gal can act...but is…
Ohhh. I’ll try to look at other trailers for her previous dramas. But so far I found her acting lacking for this drama vs Bai Lu, Esther Yu, and Sandra Ma.
WASTED STRONG FEMALE LEAD. Ban Hua was more like a pretty soldier than a General as she seemed to always need the help of her “scholarly” fiancee to deal with military stuff. Strong female lead but I prefer the way Sandra Ma was written as Ye Zhao in Oh My General. Oh well. If it wasn’t for the cute side plots for the other characters, this drama would be a complete waste.
TEPID CHEMISTRY. Chemistry was ok but not as electrifying to sustain the 40 episode count. Hence rewatch value for me is also low since you rewatch a drama primarily because you want to feel the same electrifying chemistry which this show didn’t have. Too much filler to and the number of times the OTP broke up was just too ridiculous, I think they’re just using it to prolong the story. lol
OVERRATED I’m still perplexed at the super high ratings for this drama as there are better slightly older dramas than this. I guess since it’s the latest one and slightly “better” than the current options, people tend to give higher ratings. But seriously, if it’s chemistry, this drama doesn’t have electrifying chemistry to rave about, for the plot the villains are very comical and seems like they just recycle the same problems. Visuals, yes well maybe they win on this part since Neo Hou and Guan Xiaotong are super eye candy.
PS. Has anyone watched Guan Xiaotong’s previous works? Because I think she only had one facial expression throughout the whole drama, wether she’s crying, laughing, or angry. I tried searching for photos of her different expressions but it’s all the same. Well aside from that one shot from a past drama where she actually looked like she was crying and her face is not the same “set” pretty face she has.
I had high hopes for this one since Cao Jun Xiang was cute in General’s Lady and Zhang Yue Nan was adorable as Antelope in My Dear Destiny. But the great set design and costumes were wasted on a script that could have been written “tighter”. The climax and ending was super rushed too. I think the mini drama, Queen of Attack, had better script than this. Though both are cliche.
Não teria para quem vender. Dramas chineses não tem tanta difusão. As mídias ocidentais teriam pouco interesse…
True. Oh well. Non-Chinese Cdrama watchers are probably a small niche or probably for people who like “period romcom”. In general Kdrama perood romcom’s are way better but the rate at which these period Kdramas are produced is not as fast as Cdramas so no choice but to watch Cdramas.
I finished watching the unsubbed compressed 3 episodes (6 eps each) on MangoTV YT channel, and the ML was unbearable in the first few minutes. I get why they placed The Romance of the Tiger and the rose on the recommendation because this is what would have happened if the ML was actually serious on getting rid of the FL on the start. But seriously if you just continue watching the drama the chemistry between the 2 leads is so good. Add to the fact that Cheng Lei (Ji Qing) has some resemblance to Zhang Zhe Han and he looks so good. Hope he gets more dramas. I’ll rewatch this when MGTv releases. The Eng sub.
As a person who watched the original Taiwanese version, then the Kdrama, then the Cdrama... could someone please spoil me if the chemistry between the Jdrama OTP as great as the Cdrama version?
This is like 50 shades of grey Jdorama version but less BDSM and more mopey FL. Great chemistry between the OTP but seriously the girl is such a pushover and the guy is a sad emo boi.
PS. Ignore the poor cinematography, costume, and visual fx in S1 because they have limited budget. They get better budget in S2 & S3.
