Up until meeting Gongsun Heng, all she does is plan for her revenge. After Shuozhou she slowly starts to not care as much for revenge as for helping Tang. She gives consideration to the larger picture. As far as promises go, she made a promise to her mother first to not hate anybody so... Regarding what happened to her mother, her story will be told later on. You also need to take into account that Changge is young, and as young people often do she will sometimes act based on emotions, and act rashly. A'Sun is a few years older and has more life experience.

Best brother of the year award goes to: Xiao Jinli. Love the relationship between him and Jinyu, he's such a cute and caring brother.

Not that many have rated it. I'm sure it'll go up as more people start to watch it. We just need to promote it some more :)

I would also like a season 2. I wonder, does anyone know if there is a sequel to the book it is based on?

Culture will naturally affect how we rate dramas, we have different expectations and things that we like. While Douban is a good tool to find some good dramas, I have also found that a lot of dramas that I like a lot have "low" rating on Douban. Likewise, some dramas with high ratings there or on MDL aren't my taste at all. That's why I say ratings don't always help. They can provide some guidance, but in the end I don't trust them very much. I usually use a combo of check ratings, maybe check some reviews, read the story introduction and watch a trailer, then I'll decide if I want to watch it or not.

The imperial coroner has a very refreshing storyline imo, with minimum of tropes used (no misunderstanding between main couple, yay!), it really is a good drama. Give it one more try, I don't think you'll be ddisappointed. Just don't expect it to be another TLB. There can only be one TLB ;)

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I really like this drama, but I still think that The Long Ballad is better. Altough objectively speaking, not by that much I admit. I agree that this is far superior to many other c-drama. It's such a refreshing storyline, I wouldn't mind a season 2 of this. I find ratings, no matter what page, to be of little to no help sometimes.

No, I mean in the manhua they didn't even meet until she surrendered Shuozhou to him. The first part of the drama is mostly non-manhua material. He didn't find out she was a girl until much later, when she went missing and was in the Daoist temple. It was Qin Lao that told him. The manhua didn't really have time to get to the real romance before the hiatus. It ended just around the time both of them are starting to be aware of their feelings (he actually expressing an interest in marrying her, once it's pointed out to him that he could actually do that xD)

If they had followed the manhua, they wouldn't have met at all until episode 15, when she surrenders Shuozhou to him. It would have been a very different drama. I actually liked that they didn't drag the revealing of her gender and identity to the infinite. I've seen so many drama where it takes forever for such revelations to be made, and it just annoys me. Here everything went at a pretty comfortable pace. And the relationship between A'Sun and Changge wouldn't have developed they way it did had he not found out early.

After watching some BTS videos, for example when he was going to give her a kiss on the forehead, and other half intimate scenes, I can't blame them. He was so nervous just for those scenes, Leo would never have pulled a real kiss off. He's so adorable. I honestly don't mind that there is no real kiss between them. Their relationship isn't based on that, it's more like their herts are connected, and just having each other is enough. Feels mature that way. At the same time, it could also be said that they haven't reached that level in their relationship yet. They're both young, and especially Changge is a bit... Clueless about the whole love relationship thing. xD so we can all imagine that they'll get there eventually. (I feel like my comment is a bit inspired by some of Johanna's earlier posts xD)

Me too. I feel like Changge should have gone back and given a report or something at least. I mean, she did go to Tang and negotiate as his little sister after all. She should go back and show her "brother" some proper respect ;)

Ikr? Johanna has done an excellent job, deep diving and explaining things for us. I never disliked the ending from the start, and thought it made sense. But it's still sort of getting better and better in my head whenever I've read one of her posts about it LOL
