He doesn't even know his mother, A'sun is his 'brother from another mother', however. She'er even flinches when…
Even Khatun herself makes a comment about this irony. Johanna is right, She'er didn't know his mother. And once he started to get to know her, she wasn't what he had imagined at all. She even killed his father, so Yanli could become Khan. Once She'er started to see her for who she truly was, he wanted to make her stop. She claimed it was all for him. But by now he isn't even interested in becoming Khan or getting any power.
On ep 18 and I'm unhappy with this couple. I was really entertained by them until Sun basically gets a man to…
Gongsun Heng was willing to sacrifice himself, Sun himself would have preferd if it hadn't been needed. Sun has a very precarious relationship with the Khan, so he didn't have another way out. Not did Gongsun Heng, and they both knew it. As for what happens to Changge, it would have actually been worse for Changge had Sun, as the leader of the enemy, stepped in. The reason the people were angry with her in the first place was because they thought she had collided with the enemy. And she would not have been thankful for his help in that situation. He helos clear her name in another way before they leave.
Sun's message to Changge: "Copy that. Be there or be square." These translators are killing me xD
Well, I can understand the difficulty of translating it. The characters in themselves mean "Already know. Don't see/meet, don't scatter/separate/break up." A better, and easier translation would have been "got it" or "understood" and "see you later" or "wait until I get there". Or something like that. It's a real hassle translating Chinese. xD The way they translated it here totally doesn't fit, and just sounds really funny.
I just noticed something. When Gu checks his email at the end of episode 15, that's Gmail. But isn't everything Google banned in China? I mean, I know you can access stuff with VPN. I just found it weird that they sort of promote Gmail in a drama. Seems like something someone should have reacted to.
A compilation of all the osts and bgms used in the dramahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0toWzQnphMk&t=4604s
Finally! I've been wanting to listen to the bgm as well. I absolutely love no 11 and 12. I know 22 is like the sad song among them. But my heart almost breaks when I listen to no 45. I hear Changge's words about Tao and non-action and struggling echo in my head. I didn't realise that scene had left such a deep impression on me until I heard the music now again.
I have to admit, despite how badly Su Man Lin has treated Xiao Ning, I haven't really disliked her very much. Until episode 14 that is. Her spiteful phonecall to Xiao Ning made me royally pissed. And then at the party again, I wanted to scream at her! (or rather at Gu, to not to let her go over to Xiao Ning, who was already feeling so bad). Thank heavens our girl doesn't get beaten down that easily.
And on another note. I get so nervous when she drives and looks over at Gu all the time. Eyes on the road please! xD
No, he was the emperor until 649, when he died. You can read about him on Wikipedia. He is considered to be one…
I suffer a bit. The dialouges in historical dramas are really hard to understand, a bit of some old language and a lot of idioms and proverbs make it hard to understand the finer details. But sure, I can watch the raws and get at least the gist of it. :)

Been hanging out here for weeks ;) and this isn't my first chinese historical drama. And I've studied both Chinese and a bit of Chinese history. I read a lot on Wikipedia when this series started, was helpful to understand some of what happened and the historical background.

Also, due to Chinese censorship rules, historical events and characters portrayed in a drama may not stray to far from the actual truth. If they do, certain changes need to be made. For example, the Ashile tribe of the series is actually called Ashina in real history.
