About the rating, I wouldn't say it is highly rated. It's just that most Light On series don't have a big audience and the majority have under 400 ratings, which can be the reason why it is easier for those dramas to have low ratings.
Not many people watch, so a few average/bad ratings change the final rating by a lot.About the popularity -and also rating-, I think it's motsly cause of Bai Jing Ting. He's a quite popular actor and definitely has more fans in MDL compared with some of the veteran actors in other light on series (it is evident by the comment section here too).
For the time being I'll try staying optimistic. Maybe they'll air it after the summer vacation.
He mentioned clearly why LMF's case was excessive defense and not justifiable defense. He also clearly stated why it wasn't special defense.
He didn't say that he made that decision because another verdict would influence the chinese public.
On the contrary, he said that he understood his actions. He aknowledged that saving someone putting himself in danger is important and admirable, but that doesn't make it legal and that wouldn't influence him to a point that he would say it was justifiable defense when it wasn't.
If the final verdict was justifiable defense, that would go against the evidence they had at the time and would teach everyone that using a knife under all circuimstances is okay, but that is not true. After all, that's why there are three "paragraphs'' on the matter and not only one.
However, it is evident throughout the series, that the writer wanted to prove that the law is a human fabrication and in the end some conclusions will be made based on personal biases and beliefs, cause most of the times there is not enough evidence. For example, LMF felt threatened at the time, he couldn't have known that the stick wouldn't kill him or that that man was acting because he was taking orders from someone else. At the same time, the prosecutor could see it as objectively as he could, but from an outsider's perspective which in itself is flawed cause you can't understand someone if you don't try to be in their shoes.
JT's case is another great example. Some said it was excessice defense, others it was justifiable. They both took into consideration the evidence, but had different opinions on the matter, because some tried to be in her shoes and others didn't. In the end, you can't be inside anyone's mind and know what they thought at the time, so the law will always be flawed to a certain extent (which is a pretty bold thing to do in a chinese drama that goes through the censorship board).
So, all in all, I don't think that the prosecutor's decision was wrong. Law wise, it makes sense why he acted the way he did, but from an insider's pov, from LMF's pov his decision didn't make sense, cause he could only experience what happened subjectively from his pov and feelings at the time.
