They probably won't sell the rights of immortality internationally for financial reasons (at least for the time being, cause it's already been many years since it was filmed). JITD was uploaded first on Youku and then it was basically cancelled allegedly cause they never had the rights to broadcast it. And they sold the rights to Japan after it went through editing again (probably in hopes that they will show it in China).
Similarly with the spirealm that was leaked.

They can air them internationally, but they will lose tons of money, cause the target audience is chinese people and they have invested a lot of money on the period dramas comparing to modern ones like JITD or the spirealm (especially the spirealm that was ridiculously low budget and a parody of the book).

I feel like they are airing Desire now to gain as much money as possible, taking into consideration the huge sucess of Revenged Love.
Chinese fans will probably promote it one way or another like what is happening now with revenged love that is not really available in China.

It's filmed in China I believe, but the company is not based there.

It's made by a company that is not based in Mainland China, plus it will only air internationally. That's why they will be able to broadcast it.

There are multiple rumors the past couple of days, not only for this but generally for danmei adaptations. I hope we get to see them this time.

There is no confirmation for neither. TIA airing at the end of the month is a rumour for the time being. They haven't announced anything officialy, same with this one.
