Like Annael said, I would also prefer less and more "impactful" episodes. Unfortunately many dramas have more episodes than the script can handle. A few years ago that dramas had more than 40 eps, creators tended to make tons of filler episodes cause more eps meant higher budget...

I think 30-40 eps are just fine for costume dramas (maybe even less in some genres like investigation ones) and 20 eps (and less if I am being honest) are ideal for modern dramas. Especially in some genres like thrilles, I think a shorter episodes format would result in a better final product. That aside, sometimes even when they cut the number of the episodes, they are longer. I am not sure what the new regulations are, but My Journey to You for example had many eps that lasted more than 45 minutes or were over an hour and it was only 24 eps.

So no worries. As long as the series is well written even if the eps are not that many it is a good thing. The only problem would be if they actually start cutting off entire episodes or scripts because they can't financially cover the expenses. There was a rumour about Youku cutting the eps of the dramas under 20, but I am not sure if it is true.
I believe it is also a way for Cdramas to get more popular internationally and domestically.

I loved the book too! And the cast was so well done. When I was reading couldn't help but imagining the two actors in those roles.

I hope so, especially regarding Immortality. I have been waiting too long for that. I have lost count of the years...

Another drama added to my "desperately want to watch this, but probably never will" list.

I'm not losing hope either. After all it's not that long since it got filmed, but I agree. It would be nice to have some type of news. On the other hand, I doubt it is a highly anticipated drama, so I don't expect much till they actually drop it.

Hopefully we will actually watch it this year.

Of course, there is censorship and can't be like actual bls, but there are many homoerotic undertones. Even the way the director handls some scenes and the FL is pointing that way. That aside, it has some typical " insinuations".

It depends on how you view it though. Definitely worths the watch, the aesthetics are immaculate.

JITD aired on Youku for a few days if not less and then it basically got cancelled. It aired now in Japan for international viewers. Youku sold it to them after ages.

I agree it got toned down which is unfortunate. They probably did it for the drama to pass censorship, so they could air it in China and earn more money. It got sold in Japan with those changes. If they sold it to them directly after the first release in China, it would probably be much better and wouldn't be as censored.

I just hope we get to watch some of the same sex novel adaptations at some point. They look quite promising and it is a pity they won't release them. They will probably look quite outdate if and when they do.

They are censored though. I don't think revenged love is airing in China. Same with some other bls. Most are airing just internationally.

It would be nice if they just stopped with the whole censorship thing at some point though. I'd really like to watch some dramas that have been shelved for years 😅
