Yes, you are right. I had read about it. I feel they might have done it cause of the viewership too, since the previous drama (Black Out) that was more or less in the same genre ended up being an unforeseen success. I truly hope it gets better, cause it is the only thing imo that drags the series down.

Take into consideration her dad is not just a police officer, but a profiler which means that he knows how to deal with criminals better. The thing is that it seems like the investigation relied heavily on what his daughter said, so her "confession" could be a very big part of the evidence they used to say it was just an accident. That is why he was probably shouting asking her why she lied.

The dad could know for multiple reasons. One he is a profiler which means that he is aware of different types of behaviors and recognizes people who lie easier. Two he noticed something or knew that something the daughter said was a lie. It could have something to do with that handkerchief that they found. Maybe the daughter said something he knew was a lie.
Lastly (and hopefully untrue) it could be that he was overtaken by his emotions and needed someone to blame and he blamed the daughter.

I feel like we will know more about it soon, but I get it. So far, it seems that he still speculates his daughter but at the same time he is trying to protect her or at least investigate on his own and not let the police find out. Back then, something similar may have happened. After knowing what his daughter said, there was probably something in the story he knew was a lie, but he couldn't really tell the police about it cause if the daughter was truly involved that would stigmatize her and his career. Plus, I think the fact that minors where involved could have led in a more sloppy investigation. People even police tend to believe kids easier in these types of cases and I doubt anyone would fo a thorough research and search all the details If everything seemed like an accident at first glance. People tend not to find kids suspicious of murder, especially under these circumstances.

The only problem I have with the series is the pacing. Acting, plot and Instrumental music are great, but it does have a very slow pace with slow motions etc that doesn't really work in many cases. Even though I like my slow paced series, here it is a bit overdone and if the pacing was a bit different it would help more with the overall dark atmosphere.

We don't have many details, but Ha Bin asked her dad in the end of episode 2 if he believes it was just an accident, which basically implies that that was the outcome of the investigation. It was probably considered an accident, but her dad believed his daughter lied to the police about what happened and they probably didn't push more cause she was a kid.
