No no, nothing like that. In the book, initially, SML hates FL even though she’s outright declaring her love for him lol. He thinks she’s a bit too outspoken, which is against the norms. However, what kills any desire for her is that she’s too cruel, self centred, so he despise her. SFL live by the motto that a little kindness goes a long way. So if she can be kind, she would, think of it as future investments lol. And they do pay off for her. So in everyone’s minds, SFL is kind and beautiful, FL is cruel and self centred. So everyone loves SFL and not FL, including ML. After SuSu entered YSW’s body, initially she kept up the cruel facades, but she would kinda claim due to injuries, she doesn’t have the energy to do any of those things lol. So slowly she kinda change, not too suddenly, but enough. And while initially people hates her, she doesn’t care, and continue doing her things and that’s how slowly she gains everyone’s respect and love, even the SML.
The SFL is one up on the FL is because she managed to obtain a second red string. So everyone has a red string, but if you have 2, you can make anyone loves you. Say your charm is double n irresistible lol. Ppl can’t say no to you. So she doesn’t need to do anything, she just need to always have the second red string with her, and she’s set to make anyone she likes to love her, love her lol.
They’re kinda no second couple in the normal sense, I think the drama will change to make Chen DuLing’s role more prominent. Because in the book, as much as she was prominent, but was like bad guy prominent, and then got killed by ML in the most horrific way, and then never appear again. There was other character that was described as similar to SFL in term of snake character, but she’s gone, die, finished lol

Uhm, if ning an ru meng supposed to air soon, this one will be delayed until it’s finished. No way they release 2 big one of her at the same time! Even if they are one after another, there needs to be a few months break in between because ppl will be stuck in the shop for a while! I know I’ll be stuck in LYX and BL for a while! So it was a miracle that both ML and XL falls in love with YSW lol! Though if you think about, it’s the whole fated and natural in love are playing by this extra red string lol. Like if the red string is symbolises fate, it’s then bring people to question if fate or naturally be with each other, be compassionate and treat ppl with respect and heart will create love. There was an old TVB series about a girl who broke a couple red string, and she had to come down from heaven to get them to fall in love naturally, but end up fall in love with the ML, made the ML fall in love with her, n because of it, FL (supposed FL) die. So she turned into their red string because he would eventually die too, because his partner die lol. That would be another different way I know a drama do red string lol
He first started off as a human with demonic bones. He’s not immortal in a normal sense. He can be killed, however, he doesn’t die. It will take sometimes for him to resurrect, but he will be stronger when he does. That’s why she can’t straight out kill him at the beginning, because it’s moot point and just make him stronger. Half true. At the beginning, Xiao Lin does despite YSW, however, as the story progresses, he basically in love with her. But he doesn’t allow that thoughts to go any further than his own mind. And how he falls in love with her is a lot more justified than just because she was the FL. I love him as Xiao Lin. As GYJW, that character actually was under developed and pretty meh. Almost like a punch bag for ML >_< I would argue that this character actually shows how cruel the ML can be, even though he’s better by this time in the novel. Still… he would done better, but in his view, letting him live is the kindest thing he can do and it won’t kill his chance with SuSu the second time around lawl >_>

Let me say if they change the story about how evil ML is, I’ll be rather upset. If he’s tuned down, then this is not a special story anymore. This story is basically demonstrating how nurture overcome natural. He was born to be the devil king, lack of a mother, everyone fears him, everyone calculating toward him, he’s nothing but a dirt patch they don’t want to deal with. And because of all these bad treatments, why should he care for any of them? That and the fact he’s a psychopath, yup, dude does not have a heart. He does not understand love, until SuSu planted it there.
And SuSu, so many hates her because omg, they are all fangirling the ML and everything she did is wrong to him. No, SuSu has her mission. Throughout the book, she has a mission. And she’s not like these soft rice FL in every other xianxia that is all about love and totally forget her mission. She would complete her mission even if it kills her heart, not what she wanted to do, however, it is the right thing to do. Her love and how she feels is not bigger than the state of mankind. She might have been moved by him, however, the second he used her to kill the prince, she bitterly learns that he would use her as a pawn, he would not think for her, would not act the way she wants even if she loves him. He would simply not listen to her. There has never been that kind of balance. He has the power, she doesn’t. This story is what the Chinese culture is about: rising above your class. He was born a lowly, everyone hated him, the whole world turns against him. But after SuSu, he learns to be good, so what if the whole world turns against him? He follows his heart and do what she would have done for the world.
Personally, I love SuSu, and I love him, he’s flaw, but his flaw and anger at the world is met by her compassion. But don’t be mistake, she’s compassionate, but she knows what’s right and what’s wrong. But she would show him compassions whenever she allows to. N this compassion is what made him fall in love with her.
Erh, he was pretty nice to her at first - no, he didn’t. He was manipulative. He even saved her, no he didn’t. It was his plan all along, he orchestrated her kidnap. He actually planned to kill her, she did die. But SuSu entered her body, that’s why she’s not dead dead. Before even knowing SuSu/married to SiWu, he already killed other ppl. So to say he was pretty nice and the FL did things to him, n therefore he’s awful because of it is completely wrong.

Lol, if I was a hater of these 2 actors I would comment on their look, acting, and everything in this review will be about these two. But you seem to not able to go pass your idol loving lenses to see this review is based solely on whether this deserved the name wuxia drama, the logics and appear it should have created in the first few episodes to make the audiences keep watching. Lol, critics praising it? That’s laughable! I read multiple sources, and nothing and no one is praising it. Also I’m not a sheep that need to follow the critics. Ppl can (or not) read my review and it wouldn’t change my opinions on this drama. The only thing might change my opinions is how it perform in the later episodes when I get back to it. But thank you for your childish remarks, which once again prove that these popular idols have kids as their fans 🤣 and that’s why cdrama’s quality goes down hill, to catering to such young feeble minds, with lengthen episodes while having no logics, no developments, no creativity or well told story to grab the audiences.

If I have male lead hate, I just stop watching lol! I don’t need MLL, but ML neutral is needed for me to continue!
