Oh my, after Legend of Shen Li I just Knew he is the one to watchš
But heās the only ML here!!! Instead of being the SMLā¦. His character in Shen Li really made my heart acheā¦. To some extent I wanted Shen Li to pick himā¦. š¤£
I think revenge is definitely going to be a big motivating factor .
Haha, Si Jin is in the minority for Cdramasā¦. so that is the opposite⦠I have a hard time getting past the first 10-20 episodes, so I left it and watched like the eps after that and itās so much better!! I tried going back again to start it properly but failedā¦. So it starts slow (and personally I find it quite boring) and then gets better in mid and towards the end. Iām curious how the last few episodes will turn outā¦
i don't understand why she wanna be with that family so bad
Haha, sameā¦. Thatās perhaps the only bit of the plot which I think is illogical so far, but then after I gave it some thought... It kinda makes sense for someone who is only 17 yrs oldā¦. I think itās curiosity and also a sense of belongingā¦. It probably is also related to her character, I think she wants to have her name cleared and instead of being abandoned, she is the kinda person that would want to decide her own fate and walk out of the main door of her own accordā¦
I think revenge is definitely going to be a big motivating factor .
Oh yes! Speaking of that! I hated the synopsis for revealing that. Itās a MAJOR spoiler, I totally had 0 suspicions towards the father coz too many Cdramas have this sort of biased fatherly characterā¦.. shouldnāt MDL edit it??
Yes!! This has surprisingly been a great so far, I think there were a lot of releases the past 12 months that ended up being good productions with some budget, started off strongly but just ended up being average or like an easy but forgettable watchā¦..
I think revenge is definitely going to be a big motivating factor .
I think she actually had no explicit intentions or plans to return to the manor because honestly with Chai Jing she could have easily achieved it at any timeā¦. So I think it wasnāt for any pressing reason, but because she already murdered her aunt and uncle and she just genuinely wanted to return home since she just lost her āhomeā albeit a cruel oneā¦.. I mean I personally wouldnāt have returned and I would have left with Chai Jing, but episode 6 (or was it 5) just reminded me that she is only 17 yrs oldā¦. More than anything I think she was curious who her blood family really isā¦.
Yea! Iām definitely impressed that she isnāt scared of her mother. lol. I mean if I was 17 and had never met my so-called mother, I would be super scared meeting her for the first time if she did wot she did in Ep 1ā¦. š¤£š¤£š¤£
I think revenge is definitely going to be a big motivating factor .
I think the revenge plot stems from the mother, I think thatās wot her mother has been trying to do/investigateā¦.. It probably is related to the demise of her own Ruan family, but this is probably only a side plotā¦.. I think everything will converge with the MLās investigation to form a major arc for the TV drama towards the endā¦.
I think revenge is definitely going to be a big motivating factor .
I actually donāt think soā¦. I think she will be involved in the mystery and investigation part of the drama, basically wot the ML is investigatingā¦. She didnāt really return to the manor for revengeā¦.
I jaw-dropped when she tacitly agreed to kill the MLā¦.. š® I was like āwowā¦ā¦ā
But I actually think she does think about consequences a lotā¦.. she is shrewd, astute, scheming⦠countryside life was simple, with nothing but poverty and abuse for her, but it definitely wasnāt straightforward because of her aunt and uncleā¦. And donāt forget the drama hasnāt revealed how she and Chai Jing metā¦. I think her life in the countryside is probably just as complicated as her life in the Zhuang manorā¦
I jaw-dropped when she tacitly agreed to kill the MLā¦.. š® I was like āwowā¦ā¦ā
I mean the situation with her uncle and aunt, I get itā¦. Even I myself, I donāt know, I think itās very very difficult for anyone to accurately say how theyād react unless he/she is in the exact same situation⦠nobody can fully guarantee the final outcome, esp when it could be survival instinctā¦.
But the ML basically did nothing to herā¦.. yetā¦.. at that point in timeā¦. Damns⦠she was ruthless manā¦. š¤£š¤£š¤£ itās a totally different scenario altogether⦠I mean if she goes around assassinating every person that gets on her nerve she might as well be an antagonistā¦. lolā¦. I think wot she really meant by her silence is āwell, I donāt mind him dyingā¦ā¦.. though I wouldnāt do anything to him myselfā which makes her a very grey characterā¦..
Damn, the storyline is so interesting and refreshingā¦. Finally NOT a revenge themed plot⦠yay!! am so glad the cast and the production crew managed to adapt and execute this properlyā¦.
The plot has been so smart, some of the dialogue is very memorable and thought provokingā¦. Most unique thing about the plot is nobody is a nice person and nobody is a pure protagonistā¦. lol, I love itā¦. For the first time I think the FL has a really grey character, like an anti-heroā¦
Letās hope that this gets better and better as the plot progressesā¦..
Super intenseā¦.. I donāt think Iāve ever watched a romance themed historical Cdrama which starts off so…
Oh yes! I loved the monologue too! I thought the voiceover was very natural and very fittingā¦.
Iām not really a big fan of revenge themed dramas mostly because it doesnāt apply to the modern day real life, I find it difficult to relate to, and neither do I find it that entertaining to watchā¦.. I mean I totally understand the whole revenge mentality, I believe itās part of human natureā¦. But most people are too consumed by other things in life now than to be bothered to actually carry out some over-the-top revenge planā¦. 𤣠extreme revenge does happen in real life but it will be carried out in a day. Or like a week⦠not like something which youād spend your entire life onā¦.

Ah really? But it seems like they excluded the reborn element of this in the TV adaptationā¦. Interestingā¦. But tbh I thought The Double didnāt progress as well as I expectedā¦.. I felt it started with a strong premise and sort of became an okay drama as it went along, mostly because there were just too many revenge dramas released over the past 2 yrsā¦. It kinda just became another oneā¦.

I just figured out why a second agoā¦. Both have the same author of the novel it is adapted fromā¦.
I thought it reminded me of The Double too, but I didnāt find The Doubleās first episode that intense, coz the FL was tooā¦.. innocent? Like she was an outright protagonist just like in most dramas, and the typical super pure innocent dude seeking for revengeā¦.. but in this one, in the first episodeā¦. Everyone did something āevilā including the FL, like I still find her role in this very greyā¦. I love this one a lot more, like nobody is purelyāgoodāā¦ā¦ and thank goodness, the whole revenge trope is very subtle, almost non-existentā¦. Itās actually a lot more realistic, hence the intensityā¦.
Super intenseā¦.. I donāt think Iāve ever watched a romance themed historical Cdrama which starts off so intense and so darkā¦. Itās also because of Chen Du Lingās eyes⦠her gaze makes her fall right in the grey area, like āis she a protagonist, is she an antagonist?ā kinda roleā¦.
