tbth...i stopped watching once we got to Fa.i just couldn't do it. i was only interested in Yotha & Gunand obviously…
I kept watching because Yotha and Gun still appeared and had scenes together, but to me (don’t come at me) I felt FaifaWine were boring after the high Yotha and Gun gave. I couldn’t connect with them, Mark seemed to have more emotions in his acting and was less stiff when he was with Mek in Sky in your heart. I also didn’t see the chemistry between JuniorMark on or off screen, like other people have raved about.
This one is a hard one to get through, the main couple has absolutely no chemistry. I keep hoping that Nom gets into a relationship with Korn but seeing as that is a support character, I don’t see that happening. But at least those two have chemistry or at least thats how I feel. What can I say about Phra? I find his jealousy and possessiveness off putting. Nom looked good with those contact lenses, was it really needed to go back to the glasses? So far I’m not impressed, I still have 4 more episodes, let’s hope it gets better.
Santa... 😭😭😭 If only I'd never seen the original trailer... But Barcode will definitely do a great job!…
Which original, because the first trailer of Revamp was from Wasi Sabi, with Boss. Who was supposed to play the role Santa later took over. Second trailer was of Gmmtv. I do agree with your opinion of Barcode.
Only good one after unknown was See you love, but even that one didn’t give me the same feelings as Unknown…
Tell me about it, I used to say that Taiwanese series couldn’t go wrong, because the quality was just so good. I’m eating my own words at this point, lately South Korea has been putting out good bl series, with the most recent, secret relationship. Which for me made the bar for good quality BL’s only higher. Unknown has become my comfort series, I just love that slow burn that extends for years, the timejump and the consequences of being away for 4 years was done very well. The agony both characters felt came across on screen, it was just such a good series. The last few Taiwanese feel more like bad comedy series instead of the mature, serious drama’s, they put out in the past and what they are known for. It feels like they are becoming like Thailand, when it comes to BL’s, just putting out as much series with a flimsy plot, actors who can do better, its sad really. But I’m still hoping it’s just temporary!
Non-stop music playing in the background, characters that are bickering immediately, "suddenly I'm afraid of getting…
Only good one after unknown was See you love, but even that one didn’t give me the same feelings as Unknown does. Hoping Taiwanese will put out some good series again for 2025, so far it’s been kind of lacking.
I mean New did the same thing wirh YothaGun. At least FaifaWine had 2 different songs in ep 20,21 (I believe).…
I mean I can look trough the rough CGI of MGB as long as the acting is okay, though I don’t have expectations with it, maybe that’s why it’s okay-ish so far for me. It also doesn’t help that I watched secret relationship, which was top tier, if you come from such a high, everything is going to be disappointing.
I cried my eyes out the first time I watched my only 12%, but if I would watch it again, I probably would score it lower then that now. (it was I think maybe my tenth bl series I watched) I watched we are and even though I did like it, there are a lot of flaws with it, one clear thing that is noticeable, is the divided screen time between couples (Fourever you also had that problem, could say this one also has that problem).
Somehow if New now directs a multiple couple bl series, one or more couples get screwed over. Which is weird because that didn’t happen during the filming of UWMA or Between us. Maybe because those two series had only one main couple (I believe?) and one or two side couples.
I’m holding out hope for Revamp because New did work with BounPrem before, but my expectations are very low, which is sad because BounPrem definitely deserve better, especially seeing it’s Boun’s script he wrote for Prem. But can you imagine the sound effects, music which is going to be in inappropriate for the scenes, make up that smudges on clothes, etc etc… Brr, let’s just hope for the best! Maybe he’ll do better with a mature series (fingers crossed).
I guess I will console myself by reading the novels😎🤓📖
You should read the books, for one they did Yotha justice in the books. In the series they made him out as a douchebag but in the books he was a respectful, good guy, who treated Gun with so much respect. The novels are good.
Oh she did something about it - made it worse! She basically torned him from his family, then dropped like hot…
I found her reason for choosing Faifa instead of Yotha such bullshit. She made it out as if Yotha would have never wanted to return, as if he forgot he had two brothers (in the books Faifa was his twin) and a father somewhere out there. As if Yotha would hsve never wondered how they were doing. She wouldn’t have wanted to return (that tells you really everything about her) but I don’t believe for a second that Yotha wouldn’t have wanted to return. She could very easily forget she had two other children out there but she chose Faifa, so that the reason to return was still there (Yotha). I’m a big fan of YothaGun but Faifa didnt deserve that treatment of the mother (none of her children did) but I’m glad he’s standing up for herself. And honestly I hope she never returns, Faifa is better off without her!
As much as episode 23 was filled with fluffy moments, comedic scenes, and chaotic energy that provided some level…
All what you summed up was done in the books. Yotha needed months, months to figure out how to deal with his trauma. They completely rewrote his character for the series, in the book he was the biggest “green forest” guy, always respectful towards Gun, always asked, never yelled, was very careful not to hurt Gun, etc. That whole kiss with Warich never happened. Yotha spend months sleeping next to Gun after Gun fell asleep and after some time Gun also knew this, it was a running joke between Faifa and Gun. As for Gun his trauma, Yotha and Gun visited the shed multiple times, making new happy memories.
Sadly it seems that a lot of (bl) series have never heard of a therapist or therapy. They make it out as if love heals everything, which honestly is a fairy tale. The same with these unnecessary redemption arcs with (abusive) parents, they say sorry and everything is all hunky-dory. It’s especially something that Gmmtv does a lot, wrap everything up in a nice little bow. They could have taken their time and delved deeper into the characters but they didn’t, which was a big missed chance.
Im really happy of Faifawine’s arc, I think Faifa is a perfect character but Im so disappointed on how they…
They didnt handle Yotha and Gun their trauma much better. In the book, it took months for Yotha to overcome his trauma and for Gun, Yotha and Gun visited the shed multiple times, building new happy memories together. It gets hardly ever mentioned or done right in BL series, hardly ever do we hear that somebody is seeing a therapist or something of that nature.
In real life no child would want to have that mother back in their lives after being abandoned in such a cruel way. They all grew up without her and got independent without her. That count for all 3 of her children, they have each other and their father to lean and support each other. I think in real life all 3 would have gone nc, maybe very low lc with her. Before you come at me, I do see Faifa more opening up to his family with Wine by his side, so I do think that without the mother in the picture (and getting re-traumatized ever time), Faifa would grow to open up. And I do think the family in return would support him more.
As for Gun, I dearly love Yotha and Gun they are my favorite in this series, but any sane partner would have never encouraged their partner to reconnect with a parent who traumatized them that much. You do not need to accept, forgive and be in contact with your parent after such events (I say that with some experience). Nor would they want to be that close to said parent in law.
But then again Gmmtv has a habit of throwing in these unnecessary redemption arcs for parents to wrap everything up in a nice little bow. I think you can also blame New for this, he has a habit of screwing over one (or more) couple(s) in big group couple projects.
I mean New did the same thing wirh YothaGun. At least FaifaWine had 2 different songs in ep 20,21 (I believe).…
Agreed. It makes me not look forward to the series he is directing. I’m holding out hope for revamp, but I feel like the New who directed UWMA, between us and my only 12% is long gone. The constant use of inappropriate sound effects, bad music, bad angles for certain scenes (especially kissing scenes), wanting actors to act more “childlike”, are just a few examples what was wrong with the last 3 series New has directed (we are, Fourever you and 10 liners).
The bed scene was delivered so well by Junior and Mark but GMMTV ruined it by playing the OST as background music…
I mean New did the same thing wirh YothaGun. At least FaifaWine had 2 different songs in ep 20,21 (I believe). YothaGun constantly only played the OST during every sweet, couple scene. Blame it on New, who has the tendency to ruin couples (rewrites characters) or scenes.
Edit: Just realized that during YothaGub nc scene in ep 23, their OST was again used, which for the scene is not even appropriate.
Agreed! Sadly so far there are way to many questions. I feel like the grandma wants Fifa to take over but that…
With only 5 more episodes I doubt it. If it were more episodes, they had room for improvement and having time for the (so far missing) magic spark to form. But with 5 episodes, small chance. We’ll just have to see, plus side it’s only 5 more episodes, so not really a big loss of time.
It really shows that this was written by someone who's never worked on a BL before. Everything looks beautiful,…
Agreed! Sadly so far there are way to many questions. I feel like the grandma wants Fifa to take over but that raises the question, why aren’t the parents helping or why didnt they prepare Fifa for that possibility. As somebody who has parents who have a dairy farm, you would never put somebody who has no clue what he/she is doing out on the field alone. It’s a accident waiting to happen.
I personally don’t get the grandma, she knows Fifa has aspirations to be an artist and go to Japan, why on earth would you force a young adult to pause his career future? Is it to let him learn some life lessons? Fifa is just trying to get trough those 3 months, so far he might be a bit spoiled, but he isn’t a troubled kid. From what we saw in the first episode, he had straight-A’s, learned Japanese (as somebody who herself is trying to learn it, it’s not easy), had a gpa higher then what was needed/expected, he seemed to be a model child. It felt more like a punishment then some learning opportunity. Honestly this feels like a budget version of 1000 stars, which is sad.
This just feels like the numerous series that has a thin plot with a predictable ending. And honestly after secret relationship, a series with 8 episodes and only 25/30 min per episodes, this feels like a let down. And I can’t help but compare, the series has less minutes per episode but actually had a good plot, chemistry between all four actors, and questions were answered quite well and quick in that one. This one feels like lazy writing.
You are in episode 3 and you want an explanation for something that's reserved for the future? Oh dear if you…
Sorry for butting into the conversation, but I’m respectfully disagreeing, it’s fine if those questions are going to be answered later on in the series. But a viewer shouldn’t be forced to read the novel to know what is going on or to have questions answered. It was the same during the series When it rains it poors” there is a scene in that, that leaves a lot of questions. In the book it gives a very clear description of what happened, in the series not so much. A director/team should keep in mind that a lot of fans probably didn’t read the book, especially for international viewers.
The series didn't let it clear that time actually passed and Tong was in Mark's for like 1 to 2 weeks...
Thank you for answering but if it’s weeks instead of days, it’s still doesn’t answer my question. Why was it so important to have Tong move in with Mark, so Mark could protect him, if he’s allowed back to a previous (apparently) established unsafe place in mere weeks. It’s not as if the danger is gone.
Ssen 5 episodes.
