For me, this is more of a healing story about two damaged people. All those romance, political intrigues, etc. are secondary, and I don't think the director and writer even intended this drama to be one, since many of the planning and scheming even took place off-screen and we were given only what's related to the two leads.
I'm sure the source material of this drama will be your cup of tea. I liked reading it as well. But, I'm glad the drama turned out this way because this is such a unique piece of art.

Also, since she can send letters to the mountain, they must have some sort of arrangements to deliver them to the people up in the mountain as well.
And, if the ED or Emperor allows, anyone can go up. Since the marriage edict comes from them, naturally is allowed to be delivered.

Lishan arc gotta be one of the best arcs I've seen in a cdrama for sure at this point. So much raw emotions, and superb portrayal by the actors.

Drama is pretty good. If you have interest, give it a try. Be sure to watch it till ep 5 so that you can get the vibe of the story properly.
