I'm aware of that. I just feel it's gonna be such a wasted potential if this is the route they are going. If the writer wants to make changes, do it like what they did to Qi Min in PoJ, Xiao Qiao in Prisoner of Beauty, etc. They became such memorable characters and the impression last past the airing period.
I gotta get this out of my chest... the drama did the Ye Xian character dirty. No big spoiler, just the general…
In the source material, he is a strange and tempermental person, and very difficult to fathom. He lives by his own principle, and does whatever he wants. But he respects Gu Jin Chao, wants the best for her, cares for her, and covertly and overtly protects her... in a mature Ye Xian™-ways. His affection toward Gu Jin Chao is very genuine and pure.
That was the very first time I had such a strong 2ML syndrome. I genuinely didn't mind even if Gu Jin Chao ends up with Ye Xian instead of Chen Sanye. Heck, if you remove Chen Sanye from the story, Ye Xian will still fit the ML role without changing anything. That's how appealingly Ye Xian character was written.
I really hope the drama doesn't totally change him into this childish character...
So far, I am happy they changed the story from the novel, the FL is so unlikeable in the novel in my opinion.
Just curious. Which aspect of the FL you didn't like in the novel?
Her first life? Then, that's fair. Even then, that's the whole premise of the story.
On the other hand, her second life self is what we are getting in the drama basically albeit more calculating and has more agency to appear more appealing on screen.
some one explain to me whats so great or attractive about FL's father.... Both ladies (FL's mother) and the concubine…
In the novel, FL's father is a really dashing dandy with gentle temperament that even at his late thirties and early forties, young ladies still fall in love with him.
Then, we got this in the drama. I totally get your point lmao
haha, that summary is for her first life. But yeah, the relationships are pretty complicated in the novel.
Yup. Fate brought them together again and she gets married to the same person again with a totally different perspective. Noticing all the care and love he gave to her during their first life, and falling in love with him for real this time.
So I probably shouldn’t have read the book first( I was feeling impatient waiting so I just started the book),…
lol exactly. I started the novel with the knowledge of CSY being the ML. Even then, I still doubted it greatly while reading the first half of the novel. YX was just written very well...
no he isnt. he translation is wierd and probably machine translated
ikr. Like some text got cut during the translation. They probably meant Shizi Ye Xian because it also mentioned Sanye's position in the same sentence. Or this son thing carried over from the novel.
That's her personality in the novel. She has a really bad reputation, so much so that her family were worried…
It was described in the novel that Jinchao basically climbs trees and stuffs during her time in the Ji family. So, the boat scene isn't that far fetch for me given how her grandmother doted her.

No big spoiler, just the general description of this character from the source material.

In the novel, she's an evil sister to FL. She ended up with one of the characters not included in the drama.
Ye Xian is also married to a character not included in the drama.
Though, in the novel, it happend around 3/5th of the story. So, pretty standard for this type of story.
But, they changed things around for the plot in the drama and FL's father becomes this greedy character for comic relief purpose.
Then, we got this in the drama. I totally get your point lmao
Feels like they consolidated all the evil roles into GDZ to condense the Gu Family arc.
If you want to know how it went in the novel,
Jinchao fell in love and pursued Chen Xuanqing first (mainly due to schemes).
Then, she stopped pursuing him. Much later, she got married to Chen Sanye.
And.... Chen Xuanqing is biological son of Chen Sanye. (In the drama, they are uncle and nephew)
