Personally, I think it's mostly the director. With this cast, the funding shouldn't have been that difficult.

1. Don't konw (coz drama changed a lot of things from the novel)
2. He's a true Murong but looks like he got switched at birth, hence didn't grow up with his family. Plus, seems like there're still some stuffs related to his father's death too. Drama hasn't shown it yet.

The ML in the novel is indeed red (even black flag). Many of such comments stem from there.

Reverse what you see in the drama, then times it by 100. That's the Murong Qingyi in the novel. Good thing he was changed in the drama.

Finished it and loved it. Compelling characters with a story which makes you think beyond what's shown on screen. Also, kinda gives the OG xianxia vibe with all the stuffs happening around lol.
