I thought things might turn around but the combo of the live broadcast and Wang Yuxi’s post to the audience…
He shared private DMs? Absolutely unbelievable 🤢. No one wants to see their efforts struggle but as a producer, there has to be a sense of right or wrong and the ability to read the air. Sometimes that’s just to take the L if you can’t find a way to save things. Now the situation is like this. I’ve got to be honest that I never thought much of him and his productions before but I definitely want to stay away from them now on. On a more positive side, if things can’t improve domestically, then for foreign fans, it’s definitely worth engaging with the show more - likes, comments, etc because I know for a fact overseas ratings are shared on Weibo. Don’t know how far it will go but good results overseas could be a bright spark.

I wouldn’t take that to heart. A lot of the hype and selling point of this show was the chemistry. But, chemistry is also really subjective. I’ve been blown away by the chemistry of some dramas to then see others say there is none.

Well, the thing these two dramas seem to have in common is that showrunners tried to persuade the audience. In the current environment, it’s asking for trouble and can lead to backlash. It seems counterproductive but seeing the results from both shows, it might be better to stay quiet. The director for Fireworks of My Heart tried to persuade the audience as well and and also got an intense response. He hid his Weibo for awhile and I think it might still be hidden.
I thought things might turn around but the combo of the live broadcast and Wang Yuxi’s post to the audience seemed to have an opposite effect. Watching the show a bit more, all the hate is really strange. The actors and costuming are at least sincere and so are the Sfx. Yes, there’s some performance and character setting problems but when YCY gets it right, there is a spark of aura and DYX’s acting is stable. I can only think maybe it’s an issue of timing? Like if it had broadcast immediately after RoaTF and TtEotM had aired, at around the time Back to the Brink aired, I think it would have done better. Edit: I thought the drama was S+ but it’s S and last time I checked, it was broadcasting as S so while it may not be a super hit, if it can broadcast at that level it’s not a loss in my opinion.
Got to blame the producers and costume designer/stylist for the poor makeup. I don’t know what they were thinking.…
Haha, yeah one of the biggest complaints is that her clothing wasn’t even as nice as the maids. Xiao Ran I can understand not complaining because at the time she had only aired one full drama and probably felt too grateful to complain but I really don’t understand why anyone else thought her look was okay. The story slows down around episode 20 to focus on Ning Yuxuan and Jiman’s relationship but some viewers did find that arc a bit slow. The ending is very fast paced tho.
Currently watching epi 9… i think this drama is underrated.. story is fast pace..i come to watch this bcoz of…
Got to blame the producers and costume designer/stylist for the poor makeup. I don’t know what they were thinking. Ji Man is such a great character that if she had nice costumes, she would definitely be more popular and so would the show.
Nice to see you around here Bear! Personally, I didn't feel it pick up until maybe around Ep.9 or so. How far…
Hey! What’s up? For some strange reason I’ll skip whole arcs but I can’t FF😂 I know there is a life when LCK is a general trying to gain military exploits do you know when that starts?
From the live stream video, can see that right from the start, YCY is rather quiet n sombre. She is usually very…
Just a suggestion to remove the bit about getting resources over other actresses. This poor girl needs all the positive PR she can get and it’s those type of comments that helped brew this situation. The rest is very good and it’s stuff that a lot of outsiders don’t know. I’ve always thought she was a hard worker but I didn’t realise how much she struggled growing up. Edit to explain my suggestion : A show like this needs a lot of passerby to support its level of investment; it can’t be fan only supported. It’s natural to want to protect beloved stars from hate but what these two need right now is goodwill. Goodwill is what will bring passerby. I originally gave this drama a look because of goodwill, gave it up because of some ugly comments, but have returned because of goodwill.
just saw the live from last night and i just have to share some of my thoughts 🥺although i did not previously…
Praise them on the YT channel. Sometimes marketing accounts will use comments from foreign fans from there. If you use Twitter start a hashtag in support of them, a marketing account might follow if it get’s enough traction or someone from Weibo might repost.
i don't think the hate is specifically from novel readers, it's just something that's been happening to many dramas…
It’s always been bad but it’s getting wild recently. I heard the actress who played in the recent Yang Yang drama was getting bombarded everywhere for a while to the point it also took a personal toll. It’s okay to not like a drama but it doesn’t need to rise to the stars.
That's weird ! I've never seen this happen in any drama. Couldn't they stand the mistreatment of some people?…
I’ve never seen this either but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Weibo can be too cruel sometimes. Moments like this remind everybody that there’s humans behind the role.
It’s always like this in C-ent. Shows get absolutely roasted on a regular basis(my fave is always getting roasted,…
I also think YCY is doing her best but this show went up against some very powerful actress performances and so expectations were high. The idol companies really should send young idols who want to act to training camps like they used to. Or give support roles until the idol’s skills are steady. Heck, I’d even settle for directors guiding a performance like they used to. I hope she can take some time off, heal from this, take an acting course and come back to prove her strength. LYX got told off during one of his earlier acting gigs and he turned the negative comments into motivation and now he’s a great actor,
