Can someone tell me for those who read the book and watched the drama or just knows the information, to tell me…
S1 90% S2 30%
The core is there, some characters are missing, some events are missing, some scenes not in the novel at all, some scenes mixed up with différents events, characters with scene never existed (Warner and wushu, yeler and second prince all scenes, meals with naive princess 3+3 never happened, mariage was big not intimate, brothers never invited (budget?), fan Xian had very little meetings in person with second prince and crown prince, brother story under developed, saint duodui story reduced to potential girlfriend when her role is very important as martial top 9 level, real villain the eldest princess villain is hardly developed, the Ming family was dozens of chapters (a span of 1 year with hundred of characters), the bidding for the revenue never happened it was a bidding about who in western would handle the business (all families including Ming were invited and the highest bidder got the region/area... the ming family was THE family who handled pretty much all revenue, Fan Xian destroyed their authority and exclusivity leading to ruining almost the family... this was indeed long and epic). the grandmaster Ye and encounter with fan Xian never happened that way, fax Xian never recovered miraculously but it took almost a year with the daily help of duoduo, third prince was 10 years old, niang remained in the north to take over Yan spy position for 3 years, no comedy in novel, chengPP is like a father not a foe, the emperor favored Fan Xian way more in novel….. but the mega difference is fan Xian is way more cunning, scheming, arrogant… never bow or cry but is extremely loyal to his family, friends and Entourage/aides… and epic martial fights are missing or underdeveloped. They did fantastic with the casting. Fan Jian father and prime minister are excellent. I love chengPP and Emperor. S1 did a better job. Much more romance in S2. I believe the screen time was in the celebrity choice of actors/actresses. Fan Xian loved his wife Wan'er but we do not have much scene except his marriage and honeymoon (the meeting and the chicken leg in S1 is well represented) and here and there some conversation. The novel is written by a men, screenwriter and producers are men... the story is not about romance and more about drama with a focus on a male hero. (In novel, Waner is a second character, main female character is DuoDuo)
the 10% in S1 is mostly the death of Penz who was the assassin sent by a foe in the overwatch council to kill Fan Xian when he was at Danzhou (it never happened; he broke his leg and was sent away to recover; he never was a friend but a subordinate that FX appreciates) and the fake death at the epilogue also never happened. But it was sure a big bada-boom ending and everyone was on their toes to watch S2 :)
Looks like he has lost so much weight compared to S1. Face is sharper, but more handsome
Oh really? I always wondered about his teeth. Lucky them to be able to afford and slice it is their image, it is normal. Zhao Lusi waited few years before changing her crocked tooth
you have see nothing. in the novel it takes many chapters and the ming family is evil. The matriarch is well cast.
Oh ! yes. I forgot his name. I am not sure they will show much more of Ming. They took 2 actors and made it 2 episodes with them. I think they will cut the revenge and take over by xia
1- There are many valuable old actors, I hope they will not leave us until the 3rd season is shot. 2- I hope the…
3. the emperor is narcissistic, paranoid, selfish, egocentric. All he wants is to be remembered in the annals. Everyone who is doing better is a treat.
4. have you read the novel? because he had a wife (Wan'er), sisi, his maid, became his concubine because his grandmother and family (including Sisi) expected her to be, and she became one only almost by accident (she complained she was still a virgin and was stuck in the situation where she could not marry). FX slept with her maybe a couple of times. He liked her, gave her a status (being a concubine was one), and in the end, she was more a nanny rather than a concubine for sex. DuoDuo was his confidant and friend. it took years and years before they became lovers, and she never lived with him and his family. The emperor in North and Si Lili drugged him and r***ed him while he was drugged. They wanted his seed. They succeeded. No other woman. He loved Wan'er as a wife and as a woman. He was definitely not a womanizer.
I need to point out that the author, Mao Ni, wrote "JOL" from a male perspective and intended it for male readers. The novel is not about romance. The hero is male, not female. All the female characters in the story represent the male-dominated feudal era. Wife and multiple concubines were the norm for the rich and noble.
Honestly I would have picked this up again if it had gotten s3
I watched S1 but dropped S2. She looked like she is 12. plus if I well remember, the gap was 10-11 years since he found her a baby when the village was destroyed. So when he was 18-20, she was still under 10......
By doing this, he is officially acknowledging that he is the legitimate son of Fan Jian. It is like officially…
No. Fan Jian, his adoptive father, had a private discussion with the emperor, and in the end, the emperor allowed FX. The reason is that the emperor never intended to give FX the position of crown prince, except at the very end of the novel when he lost two of his sons, including the CP who was demoted by him.
The emperor had mixed feelings (as usual). FX is his favourite son. He is also the son of Ye QinMei, the woman he loved even if he betrayed her. The character of the emperor is complex. His narcissism, paranoia and selfishness are always upfront and lead his decisions. However, he also loved Ye QinMei and his son. His angry reaction when he learned FX decision, was more about his pride
Season 2 covered only 100 chapters. But they picked some arcs here and there and make other arcs unknown in the…
I disagree. Without the yogurt, yodelling and unnecessary arcs such the alcoholic empress.… They could have go to certain arcs in depth, not jump right and left, use mega clues that were the punch of the novel at the end. Etc.
I usually watch what I like and then see if her reviews match with my choices. If I do the other way around, I…
I think it is interesting to hear different point of views. Like you I do not agree with everything she says but sometimes he nails it. I love her review about words of honor per se
Disagree she has great insight, all her reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, lol
Like comments and reviews when we agree she has great insight and disagree she doesn't lollllll I think she is a bit harsh with costumes and hairstyle but I am not a pro in this area. However, I agree with the messy season… so for me she has great insight lolllll I do not always agree with her but I like her reviews. She bring the Chinese culture I do know know and she has sometimes some scoop about new dramas. anyway, I am not a hard core fan but I like her

List is longer but those are popping up :)

and I really do not like her in period dramas.

Many scenes were unnecessary.
