Season 2 covered only 100 chapters. But they picked some arcs here and there and make other arcs unknown in the novel. It was a mess. Plain and simple. S3 has to cover around 400 chapters. I wished they stuck to the story and added a S4 even S5. Considering the mega success S1 had, I am surprised they announced only a trilogy.

I honestly think that the screenwriter could not deliver and do the job. Instead of sticking to the chronology of events, he removed, added, changed the arcs and in the end it made no sense. The magic of S1 was gone and no more wow factor. He lost his chance. He had 5 years to create another masterpiece and he missed it.

746 chapters, almost 5800 pages with tons of important events that can be understood only chronologically. Yet they went all over the place in S2. The bidding was in the Ming family story (almost 70-80 chapters) condensed in 2 episodes with 2 characters when the number of the story involved over at least 50 with fights, deaths.

The tyrannical zhenzi is part of who fan Xian is and they almost deleted it. He lost his zhenqi after his fight with the shadow, is severely injured… yet he recovered with no explanation but duoduo giving him a book. Everything was rushed. Many scenes unnecessary added.

I am glad that the fans who did not read the novel loved it. I am truly happy for them. But for us who read the story and know how complex and intense each chapter was, it is frustrating. The story deserved so much more. It has all the elements.

I have very little hopes about S3. I can picture it with half the budget needed and I am not biting my nails waiting for S3 as much as I did for S2. My opinion is not optimistic. If they copy the same style of edits. My deception is huge because for me S1 was my ultimate favorite drama. Meh

That was my first thought when I watched the teasers and found it funny they kept the 2 seconds when second prince said he lost weight… repeated by crown prince.

5 years bewwen the 2 seasons and many fashion proposal such shoes and watches I think. After S1 he became a true celebrity and he probably took care of his physical. Plus he he no longer a young actor. He must look his best

By doing this, he is officially acknowledging that he is the legitimate son of Fan Jian. It is like officially wearing FAN name but he is now also the heir of the FAN family. The significance is huge. In doing so, he is also refusing any claim to the throne and choosing not to be a prince. This action is both a rejection of the emperor and a way to protect himself and his family. Fan Jian was delighted and proud as he always considered him as his true son.

In the novel she was in love with her brother the emperor. She is a real sister. Avoiding Censorship, they pushed forward the second prince. So of course she was jealous of ye qingmei.

In the drama, it seems that FX has only foes around him except Niang, first prince and third prince…. And his fan family. Warner is just temporary upset. The farewell was very touching

S1 followed the novel except the fake death and the death of Tenz

S2 was like “Let's pick this puzzle piece here and forced fit it here… oh look I found another one from another scene, lets mixed it here”. Hey guys! Do you think we could remove 100+ chapters and comdense it in 2 episodes with no actions, 6 people to reduce budget? (Ming). Ahhh I have an idea… lets remove the boring martial fights and give screen time talk to the cast!… hey! Do not forget our yogurt sponsor!

In my opinion, he was the #1 great grandmaster.

I do not think her story was and will be well explained. They changed already her age to teenager when she escaped. I am not even sure that FX will visit the Divine Temple.

Considering all the major changes and arcs removed, it is in my mind quite impossible to follow the novel arc now in S3.

If you want to know the story of Fan Xian's mother and the Divine Temple, I added a spoiler comment in my review. This is from the novel but I resumed because her story was explained within 746 chapters, not in one. I did not spoil anything else, but those are still spoilers so be aware of the risk. :)

Since season 2 had many unexpected twists and turns, I'm unsure if we'll see the same story unfold in season 3.
