very different from the novel. novel, it was very festive. Concubines, emperor, empress dowager... they all sent gifts. The emperor felt guilty not to offer a wedding for his son as a prince. nobody knew he was his son, but many had suspicions because the emperor showed favor to him since his arrival at the capital (which is totally not the case in the drama)
the meal with the brothers did not happen, the mother showing up with flowers did not happen, wu zhu showing up did not happen, da bao showing up did not happen, brother under the bed did not happen, second prince kidnapping YeLer did not happen. This ARC was a complete new scene out of the screenwriter's imagination

They are different and cater to FX's exact needs. It's a different kind of love. Wan’er holds his heart and fulfills his physical needs, while duoduo is his confident and romance is not mandatory. Both complete his soul. (my interpretation)
