I had very few expectations... I like Dilreba, but I had some serious doubts regarding GJ. I've only ever seen him in WoH (which I loved) and I read quite a few negative comments about his acting skills. Now I am very pleasantly surprised how well he is doing because this is not an easy role!

I see your point. Maybe it is due to the ongoing dispute btw Youku and the production company that some of it feels "unfinished". Like the subs on the first episode.
It's sad for a big production to be ruined by such external factors.
I never really understood all those drama categories S+ or A+ dramas so I wouldn't notice something not having the quality that it "should have" according to its classification.

I'm quite sure you understood what I meant. Dramas filled with pretty boys IN LIEU of a decent plot or good acting.
I get the point of seeking light entertainment in times of stress, but there is a limit as to how much silliness I can take. Enjoy the show, maybe I see you again once you venture towards better quality dramas...🙋‍♀️

Novel readers may not be able to help you with this. They seem to have changed quite a bit of that (like increasing the role of the fake DZY) in the drama version.

I couldn't care less about the bad CGI. Yes, some scenes are absolutely ruined because of it, but as long as the plot is engaging and the acting is good it is just a minor detail.
Dramas like for example TTEOTM relied far too much on the (admittedly brilliant) CGI to draw viewers, but seemed to neglect the need for a coherent and engaging plot.
For me, good CGI is a nice-to-have but it would never influence whether I watch a drama or not.

Yes, she knows she is fake but seems to have some delusions of grandeur.
She was a random beggar who they picked up off the street because she resembled the real Di Ziyuan. She just wanted a decent meal so was willing to take the role. She has been taught all of DZY's history during her ten years on the mountain.
She does, however, not know who or where the real DZY is.

On episode 13 now...It's nice to see that the pace has picked up again. There's not much time left to bring this to a (hopefully happy) end. I feel that both the ML and the SML will have some hard choices to make in the coming episodes.

1 stop at a stall with animal masks

Yes, his subtle acting cannot be faulted. I've complained before that his role is kind of boring, but GJ definitively makes the most of what he's been given.

Yes, I'm sure they are negotiating hard and maybe not confirming a release date for all the episodes is part of their strategy. Let's hope for the best because we deserve to see his face when he finally finds out 😆

I don't mind her existing in the story, but she really doesn't need to be so visible. She is so pathetic and annoying that it almost feels like they've borrowed a typical xianxia trope of the annoying SFL who cannot die.
They could just send her back to the mountain and the problem would be solved.

From what I've understood there is a dispute between Youku and the production company, so Youku may not be sure when they will get all the episodes.
I just hope they won't leave us high and dry on a cliff-hanger...

Oh dear, but I would say this one was "self-inflicted" 😂😂

It started fabulously. The first two episodes were a wild ride, then came the 4-episode long flashback to the beginning of their relationship which for my taste was a bit too slow and boring (especially after all the excitement of the first episodes). Now that this is over it is getting interesting again with scheming side characters and a second couple.

Probably the same - it all just sounds more respectable if you do it in 10 different languages 😂

It reminds of how the EU selects commissioners 😂😂😂 Seems nothing has changed since ancient times, just the titles and costumes are a bit different .
