Yes, comments like that aren’t helpful and getting upset about them isn’t either. Some people always have to compare and rate everything. After all the purpose of the Tencent event was to promote the drama as a team, not a beauty competition. Sadly, the kind of bullying experienced by Meng Ziyi seems to happen to a lot of young actresses. It is good that she managed to overcome this by her own strength. Jeremy’s situation is slightly different, he is stuck with a useless agency who cannot offer him anything (other than mediocre dramas with rookie actresses) but refuse to let him go because he is their only cash cow. All the recent roles that he got, he had to find himself as the agency now seems to concentrate on skits. Previously, they pushed him to do dramas back to back even though he needed more time off to deal with family issues. This is one of the reasons why he (and his fans) aren’t at all unhappy with the “part-time work” of a special guest appearance.

I know they are different groups. I was just giving it as an example for the difference in perception. Jeremy’s fans are usually too laid back to engage in fan wars. Most of them are a bit older than the typical idol fans. I followed a lot of the conversations on Weibo, if Jeremy hadn’t been unfairly attacked and insulted, they wouldn’t have reacted at all. I agree with you that it is good to see the good working atmosphere on set. Their work is hard enough, nobody needs more trouble caused by unhinged fans.

Yes, I also believe there are only a few misguided individuals who are trying to stir things up. He Yu is the ML and nobody is trying to take that away from him, but some people just love attacking others in a viscous way. I think it all started when the two of them appeared at the Tencent event and some passersby commented that Jeremy looked more outstanding than He Yu which upset his fans. Of course every fan thinks their star is the most beautiful, but that doesn’t mean that other actors are ugly! Other dramas would be happy to have so many handsome guys. I find it reassuring that the actors themselves all seem to have a good relationship and can play basketball together, hopefully unbothered by crazy fans. Interesting fact about Meng Ziyi. I didn’t know she also had agency trouble. No wonder she and Jeremy are friends, they have a lot to talk about. I can understand her fans being protective. It’s the same for Jeremy’s fans. He got so royally screwed over in Love of Nirvana, nobody wants to see trouble caused by an insecure ML (or his fans) again.
Apparently Xu Zhengxi's fans are upset due to some unreasonable fans. From almost 90 days of filming, he only…
Well, it seems that he has been unfairly attacked by some other fans (I presume He Yu’s fans) for “creating more scenes” for his character Xiao Changqing. As if he had that kind of influence! If he did, he wouldn’t have suffered so much in the previous years. Many people also don’t seem to understand the concept of “specially invited to star”. While it is often referred to as a guest role (there is no other category for it on MDL), it only means that the actor is cast outside of the billing order, but it doesn’t give any indication as to the extend of the role. It is also quite normal (although in many cases deplorable) that dramas vastly deviate from the original novel, but this is the producer’s/director’s/screenwriter’s decision and actors shouldn’t be blamed for it. Scepter for a few big-shots, none of them have this much power. I also find it amusing how people suddenly insist on staying true to the novel when before they were clamoring for the scenario to be changed so that Meng Ziyi could play the roles of both Shen Xihe and Gu Qingzhi (Xiao Changqing’s deceased wife). In the novel the two did not look alike at all, otherwise Xiao Changqing would have been immediately triggered by Shen Xihe’s appearance because he is neither blind nor stupid. However in the novel he remained indifferent to her until she knew something that no outsider could know.
Hehe, I know. It’s long and the FL-ML storyline gets rather boring the closer they get. I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who found their romance too cheesy in many instances. Yes, Xiao Changqing is a very interesting character and I am sure that Jeremy Tsui will do him justice. I just hope they won’t turn the character into a pathetic love-sick puppy like they did with his Pei Yan character in Love of Nirvana. He was a splendid character in the novel only to end up as an annoying stalker once the scriptwriters did their “magic”. It was very infuriating.
This is Xu Zhengxi. Despite wearing heavy costume in this heat, he uses his break time to make sure the waiting fans are well hydrated 🤩 9 星星发布了一篇小红书笔记,快来看吧! 😆 2CWYAwvr4gdvxTP 😆 http://xhslink.com/m/981Bhxmg8n8,复制本条信息,打开【小红书】App查看精彩内容!
He is already back! Officially, he returned in September last year and effectively, he has been working since January this year, first filming a variety show (Forever Young, aired on Mango TV), then a guest appearance in Southern Anecdote. He is currently filming Blossoms of Power, probably until mid-August.
This is how nice Jeremy really is: on this hot day, wearing heavy armor, he spends his break time during filming to personally hand out drinks to the waiting fans. 9 星星发布了一篇小红书笔记,快来看吧! 😆 2CWYAwvr4gdvxTP 😆 http://xhslink.com/m/981Bhxmg8n8,复制本条信息,打开【小红书】App查看精彩内容!
Apparently Xu Zhengxi sent treats to the set today for the crew as a nod to his former colleagues. He’s not looking for another guest appearance, is he? 😂😂😂😂😂
I see. Xiao Changqing’s story gets even more tragic in the final chapters. I am particularly interested in this character as he is played by Xu Zhengxi. My guess is that the role has been given a bit more importance in the drama version as he has been on set a lot recently. I also like Bu Shulin a lot in the novel and it is nice to see that they have found an actress who can play this difficult role without looking ridiculous disguised as a guy.
I don’t know how far you got into the novel, but once the lead couple got closer, it became rather repetitive and filled with cheesy romance. The writing style isn’t the best (even by webnovel standards) which can be felt even through the translation. I only persisted to the end to see if Xiao Changqing (the 5th Prince) manages to stay alive.
I understand. There are so many characters in the novel, it would be hard to guess. Some characters from the novel will certainly be deleted or merged with other characters as not all the subplots chill make it into the drama. The novel was a bit lengthy at times 😂
Recently, there has been an enormous quantity of posts on XHS announcing an event in Beijing, either on 11th June or in November (while they all seem to copy from the same source some of them clearly struggle with the Chinese MM-DD format for dates 😂😂😂). Some of these posts look like scams while others are wishful thinking at best. Sadly, it looks more and more likely that we will have to wait until Q4-2025…
