Person Jeremy Xu
I wish him and his family all the best. Now, let's get away from that toxic agency.
I think an agreement has been reached. I would like to think that he got something in return for that humiliating post they made him send on 06/09/2024. Maybe he had to extend the contract for another year in which he will hopefully not be coerced into another idiotic idol drama.
So far there are no news on what his future plans are.

Disagree from beginning the drama emphasis that ML and 2ML are on equal footing in strategic planning, fighting…
Then why is Pei Yan caught out time and time again? Anyone just walks into his manor like it’s a public park?
Also, he already was the Prime Minister in the novel, so clearly his importance has been diminished.

I'm just so sad that the 2ml is Jeremy. I love jeremy's acting so much. But the ml is also amazing too.
There is nothing wrong with Jeremy being the SML. On the contrary, it frees him of the usual romantic drivel which , frankly, is a waste of his acting skills.
The thing that is regrettable though, is that the script doesn’t allow Pei Yan a bit more bite. Some of his best lines have either been completely cut or were given to other people.

6 episodes in and I’m getting rather annoyed with the way the plot is going. Instead of giving us the bigger picture of the political factions and conflicting interests, the plot goes around in circles over made-up trivial stuff. Why take a perfectly fine novel and then change the plot to add one cliche after another?
And why did they have to dumb Pei Yan down beyond recognition? Were they afraid that with an equally clever opponent (as he is in the novel) the ML wouldn’t be impressive enough?
Pei Yan’s tagline was that “Despite thousands of calculations, he failed to calculate his own heart.”
I really cannot see it. This Pei Yan looks like he couldn’t even calculate what’s for lunch tomorrow 🙄

Is anyone else enjoying the morally ambiguous male lead instead of the typical 'good guy' we usually see in most…
Yes, it is quite refreshing. I just wish they had left Pei Yan some of his ruthlessness as well. He is far too passive in the drama version.

Yes, I normally prefer a HE, too, but in this case it was nicely done in the novel and didn’t feel depressing, so I would hate for them to chan

The ML dies killing the Emperor. Everyone else ends up alone.
Jiang Ci has ML’s child and brings him up alone.
Pei Yan works himself to death as Prime Minister.
Cui Liang travels the world and occasionally visits Jiang Ci.
Later, Pei Yan’s son and Jiang Ci’s son become the friends that their fathers couldn’t be.

Poor Xu Zhengxi; he absolutely towers over Ren Jialun. He keeps slouching and bending his head down to make it…
There is no way hiding that bright light. It’s not just his height, it’s his charisma. 🥰

Dubbed by a voice actor.
With a seriously ill parent at home he was probably pressed for time. Also, many drama producers seem to think that his voice is too manly for the pretty-boy loving audience.
Hopefully, in one of his next projects we will get the full package 🥰

Not even fifteen minutes in. Jeremy opens his mouth and all I can think is, that voice does not go with that face.…
No voice is as good as his own, but with all that is going on in his life it is understandable that he couldn’t spend time on the dubbing.
The voice artist is the same who dubbed him in Legend of Dugu.

Pei Yan's biological father is actually the emperor. Emperor Liang and Madam Pei had a thing (before she got married)…
Hehe, I see. She is a devious one… I absolutely HATED her in the novel!

I somehow get the impression, though that they changed this in the drama version. I don’t think the emperor will be the ultimate baddie because the Chines don’t like the ultimate authority challenged (or worse, overthrown).

This isn’t correct. The Emperor only THINKS he is his son and Madam Pei doesn’t correct him. He had her husband killed, so she hates him, but letting him believe this is safer for her son.

How is it so far? Both leads are good one🙃
It’ a nice drama to watch so far, the first three episodes were very good with lots of stuff happening.
I was a bit disappointed with episode 4 as it had a lot of trivial childishness and typical tropes.
Compared to the novel, it has been watered down quite a bit to include the typical nonsense (playing maid, flicking stones, wiping the sick heroine’s forehead, etc) that people are familiar with.

Just to clarify the situation for everyone.
There was a long article summarising an interview with Jeremy published yesterday. The interview was given last week, when he was in Beijing.
In it he explains in detail the complicated situation with his sick father who is suffering from Parkinson’s Syndome. In this conversation he also confirmed his decision to return to acting because in the meantime the family situation has been stabilised (his dad is in a nursing home now as he requires around the clock care).
We do not have any information for the moment as to how and when he will take up any projects. As I said in a post further down, the explanation regarding his family situation, whilst true and legitimate, can only be regarded as the “official version” to cover his conflict with the agency. I can only hope that a satisfactory compromise has been found that will allow him to fully develop his acting potential beyond the stereotypical roles in costume dramas.

Yes, I agree with you. It is a HE for the world as a whole, but each of our protagonists ends up alone.
