Late comment but as someone who watch it to the end and love it this drama is about family and friendships and sacrificing for the greater good. It's an open ending since the main leads get to meet again and starting over, if you don't like open ending then you should drop it, but you don't mind all the the above, an open ending and a chance to start over then i would recommend this drama.

Don't assume all those who comment are fans, they could just watched one drama from him and didn't like his choice of dramas for one reason or another or because of the fl, i been hearing lately lots of those people who commented on his dramas saying his characters are boring or plain, not realizing an actor doesn't really have a choice on the characters they're playing since it's all in the scripts they're given. Sure as an actor who wouldn't want to play a cool character with lots of hype, but in cdrama land scripts are selective base on popularity and luck, it also depend on the type of audiences. Xukai dramas might not appeal to younger audiences who think his characters or the dramas he in are boring but he pick up on older audiences who like those type of dramas who are less interest in romance which is most mdl audiences like apparently base on the rating for those dramas.

Being #1 has to do with marketability not who yuzheng favor more. Yuzheng also favor wu jinyan and she is number 3 i think.

Many of his dramas are gear more toward older audiences i think rather than younger audiences, the romance is not the main focus but just a small portion. Younger audiences like dramas with romance so i can see why in mdl many of his dramas don't have high rating because those dramas focus more on family rather than romance. Idol dramas are dramas that focus on romance, and does cp marketing, xukai doesn't do that ever since the rumor with bailu. I think his partners are also the reason why his dramas are not too popular because most of them are older than him or not attractive enough to be ship with. It's only recently after as beautiful as you aired that he was ship with seven tan due to their great chemistry and because she doesn't look much older than him that why they have lots of cp fans and why there're so much cp marketings about them. Dramas that will explode also needs luck. Even A list actors can't alway carry dramas if they don't get screentimes, xukai dramas always have too many side characters taking away his screentimes i don't know how his agency does business but i heard it's due to investment exchange by yuzheng, so he was used to get works for other actors in his agency and it could be his agency doesn't want him to get too popular so he will leave since he is the one who generate the most profit in that agency.

Yes he has been no.1 for many years at huanyu, he exploded from story of yangxi palace and gotten only main leads after that.

That's a matter of opinion, since alp he has done many big projects they might not be to your taste but they all S/S+ projects i think 🤔

There were some who defend him by comparing him to the other men in the drama, i had a discussion with someone a while back about his character in the cl page and she was saying he's much better than his uncle not a very good comparison since he's the most hateful man in the whole show 😅

What promotional campaign regarding mei zhuyu? Are you talking about the video of xukai wearing the outfit and holding the sword like mzy, is that from less is more? I was wondering why didn't they air that promotion sooner because many will be interest in the drama if they watching that video while the drama was airing.

A minor role i don't remember his name i think it was li ming de correct me if i'm wrong, he was also in lofg, and the rumor was both dramas were delayed due to his scandal and they were only aired after he was removed.

Alp is still one my favorite dramas of xukai, it's the dramas that i rewatched many times after i finished it and even revisited just to watched short clips just show how much work the production put in that still resonate to some viewers ^^

I really like cl for the story and characters, xukai even with little screentimes still standout. I would say his acting was phenomenal in that drama, i also love all his action scenes when they do showed them ^^
