This drama has 38 eps and got cut to 37 eps, i wonder what was cut from the drama, and if we will get the last ep in the future. I don't regret watching this drama, this is a very heartfelt drama and got me really emotional in so many episodes. Now that we can watch it from the beginning i think i will rewatch again to get a better feel for the drama. Thanks to best choice ever and for xukai and yangzi for introduce me to this drama, hope to see them pair again. I love their chemistry and can't wait for their next project together ^^

Watch the last ep and mch and yzm wanting to cook for her mother the fish she craved growing up, and yzm tending the fire, the both of them acted like a unit, yzm beng there for mch and helped her to fulfull her mother wish to sing opera in front of many people again. I got really emotional when the ending song came on when the mother was on stage in her costume and all the flashback moments of mch and her mother came on. This is truly a family drama and i'm happy to watch this drama as it makes me appreciates my family even more even through all the hardship and disagreements. Yzm and mch establish a hotel with yueda and xinganli merger was really a next step in their career, mch wanting to enjoy life and is not ready for marriage yet, i think as both of them are together and yzm is only waiting for mch to agree to the marriage i expect their marriage will be very soon in the future. Mcz being the first to marry before his sister was a surprised, but i'm happy for him and mao, that little boy mao's son is such a cutie. This drama at heart is a mother and daughter relationship, mch traveled to her mother hometown made her understand her mother a bit more, and her saying she wants to be there for her mother and protect her as she was protected as a child, she wants her mother to live her life and be herself not just a mom, i don't think it means she's not a mother anymore but what mch means is she wants her mother to enjoy her life rather than worry about her and their brother since they're grown and can take care of themselves.

In ep 36, the mother finally find time to speak to her son and apologized to him for neglecting him when he was a child, we get a bit more background info why she was so protective of mch, it was because she was sickly when she was younger so the parents decide to keep mch with them and left mcz to his grandmother to take care since they were both busy with work and can't take care of the both of them.

Yeah i would've like to see more of his family background, but i think when you compare to the brother i don't see his background either just his words to his sister about being abuse as a kid and his confrontation with his aunt's family. And in my opinion i felt yzm character and the brother character both were really pitiful growing up, the brother didn't have the attention of his mother and was sent away since young, he live with his family and didn't have a room of his own, he fell in love with his sister's best friend because she was there for him when he was neglected as a kid. Both yzm and mcz are boys so they deal with the neglect by hiding their own emotion and kept their own feeling bottle up, yzm dealt with it by becoming cold and only care about interest and promotion, mcz dealt with it by being more sensitive and trying to become the model son and kept silent when he was asked by his mother's unreasonable demands, he still tried to accommodate her. He was much luckier than yzm because he still has a caring father and a caring sister who gave him the attention he craved from his mother. I like both their characters, but i felt more connected to yzm and i think it's because yzm has a much harder life growing up, there was a flashback scene of him working and eating while he was abroad and we can imagine how harsh his life was before his grandmother came into the picture. Watching him grieved for his father made me realizes that he has always been strong and never show weakness before that moment, the only other time was his grandmother's death when he was by himself and refused to cry in front of other people, we see him curled on himself and finally cried showing his weakness to mch and her family, he has finally shed off all his armor and finally reveal his true self and i'm happy that he has that change because of mch and her family being there for him when he was in his most vulnerable state.

I agree with you, i think the mother's personality is strong and stubborn and set in her way, as a result in order to not disappointed her or worried her both her daughter and son kept lots of things secret and didn't tell her. Like that one scene when she went to the ex-boyfriend's house we as the audience knew the relationship couldn't be salvage because we saw what was happening, but mch never told her mother and kept her in the dark because she didn't want her to worry causing her in thinking to help her daughter and her ex to make up so she came to the ex house, and got embarrassed by them talking down to her and her daughter. The mother meant well because in her heart the ex was a good prospect because he's rich and can provide for her daughter with a good life better than what she had, she didn't care that she was looked down on as long as her daughter has a good life. Those people who said the mother is greedy and they misunderstood her just because she wants her daughter to marry into a rich family, when she was willing to move a small house in order to provide her daughter with a dowry. She's cheap because she doesn't want to squander her daughter money, and prideful because she doesn't want to be embarrassed and looked down on as a result she loves to brag about her daughter having a good prospect because of what she didn't have, many parents are the same being prideful of their children when they're successful.

I find it a surprised that you didn't sympathize with xukai's character who grew up abandon by this own parents and have to relies on himself for survival,, even though his grandmother spent money to give him an education, he still didn't have the closeness of family from her beside the occasional letters they send to each other until he went back to china and meet his grandmother and mch and getting to know mch's family. His character changes gradually as he spend time with his grandmother and mch. I find the introduction of yzm's father was the turning point and i got really emotional when he loss the chance to reconcile with his remaining family member whom he thought would never change only to realize that it was himself that didn't change and still clinging to his bitter past. Once he finally let go, he was able to move on and accept a new family in mch and her family.

I think the mother being afraid of her diagnosis is understandable, not many are strong when it comes to the thought of them dying of a serious illness. For her to not want to burden her children and husband by deciding to leave and go back to her hometown is a decision that is not taken lightly. She was living in a city she not familiar with, so she wants to go back to the place she grew up in to live her final day. Not knowing making such a decision will worry her family even more. Mr. mai is a good husband, Mrs. mai is very lucky to have him in her life, they were poor but they were able to provide for their children to go to a good school and their children turn out to be very sensible adults who go on to find career of their own and also find their life partners. This is a family drama and is resonate well with people who also consider family as the most important in their life. Yzm word is so true family is more important than work, yzm and mch took a break from work to be with her mother while she's going through her depression showing how much they love the mom, even though mrs. mai is not his birth mother, he still consider her as a part of his family. That scene of them looking for a duck of the neighbor is so funny. So mch and yzm is thinking of developing a hotel in her mother's hometown, both of them really know how to take work with them even though they took a break from their work ^^

I'm so happy yzm found the mai's family, that scene when he went to his father room and lock himself inside and mch told him she would wait for him outside show her love for him, and her parents showing him care and told him they will starve together with him if he doesn't go back is so heartfelt. Yzm is accepted as a part of mch's family now he has somewhere to belong even if his father the last member of his family died, he found another family whom he consider as his home. Mrs mai knowing his birthday and cooked for him noodle, and yzm finally cried letting him let go of his regrets about his father, he finally realizes his father has changed for the better and it was him that was holding on to the past. Finally he can let go of the past and move on with his life ^^

That's true, you're entitle to your own opinion, i'm not trying to prove anything to you just want to comment on your comment when you wrote it's a poor choice for xk and yz when i see it the opposite. Let end it here then since i saw the drama differently and really love the family dynamic in this drama whether they go through good times and bad times.

Rating on mdl don't mean much, i don't think it reflect the quality of the drama just because a drama has higher rating or lower rating, there're many factors that play into it. What i notice is dramas with romance seem to have better rating than other genres beside bl, that don't reflect whether the drama is good though. I could like a drama with lower rating than a drama with higher rating, it all depends on taste. Xukai dramas are good, and he's starting to branch out to other genres beside romance, i think this is a good direction for him. You don't have to like every dramas he in as there will be dramas not to your liking.

That your opinion, i don't consider it's poor storytelling just because it doesn't give you fairy tail and rainbow, the drama might exaggerated some of these characteristics but they're also reflect the values of today society, and what we experienced in our own personal life. Considering this drama did very well in china, yangzi character breaks 90 millions popularity and xukai was praise for his acting in this drama doesn't look like they make a poor choice. Both of their characters rank at no 1 and 2 in popularity chart, showing lots of people in love with their characters.

I don't know why do so many people expect this drama was about only the romance when it was clearly introduced as a mother and daughter relationship in the synopsis. When i first watched this drama i was under that impression and i was pleasantly surprised the ml got introduced as early as he did since the novel i didn't read but i knew that he was introduced much later, and there were some of xukai's fans at the beginning who didn't want him to take this drama because he will have a very small part since the drama was fl centric and focus on the mother and daughter relationship, but xukai took this role that means he must really like this character and i was also curious what this character is like. I'm really glad for xukai to take this role because it's true his character is only a support character but he plays a significant part in this drama, and i'm happy the screen writers were able to include him in this drama and gave him a much bigger part than what it was in the novel. I love the family theme in this drama, the mother and daughter relationship reminds me of my relationship with my own mother, and i can really relate to them. I really like yangzi character in this drama, it's my second drama i seen of her, but i have to say this is my favorite character of her, and i'm really glad that xukai and yangzi were able to pair together in this drama, i love their chemistry and understated relationship, just them holding hands could get me to smile. The main relationship was put to the side to focus on the family theme, but it didn't get loss and just add to the overall drama, i like most of the side characters especially the grandma of mch and yzm, she has such grace and wisdom i'm glad to know her character and yzm and mch ^^

I think that's natural for him to grow a beard when he left it for a day, i remember he once said in a livestream he just shaved it and it already grow out, so i think it's to show how real the character has went through when he didn't clean himself up after a traumatic experience.

It was ep 11 when she broke up with her boyfriend and ep 26 when ml and fl finally became a couple so i suppose a few months after she broke up with her boyfriend and after ml and fl spend lots of time together in their business and personal life.

We still have as beautiful as you rumor for june. I'm also looking forward to the rumor of his new drama being another modern drama ^^

I'm happy to see lots of scenes of yzm's father, even though he was a bad father, he did tried to change himself and wants to make up for missing in most of his life. His efforts to try to reconcile with his son is heartfelt, i'm glad he didn't becomes greedy and selling out mch's hotel and actually help her and yzm at the end to get evidence to oust ms. zhang from the company. Sad what happens after about yzm's father, that conversation he had with mch's father gave such a bad premonition and now it came true, he had harsh words with his father and never get a chance to apologize before his father's accident. This is why he has shut down because he was about to make amend with his father, but he will always regret for not getting a chance to make up with his father. I got really emotional in this ep, i don't cry easily but this drama got me so emotional first it was their grandmother's death, then it was mch and her mother reconciliation and now it's yzm's dad accident and he never got a chance to say sorry for his harsh words to him.

Yes i also find this drama very relatable in my relationship with my mother, she constantly worries, i think parents get lonely as they get older and i'm glad this drama address this in such a realistic manner.

I don't see this drama is trying to tell you to forgive abusive parents, mch was telling yzm to not let it affect him and to turn a new chapter is her own care for him, since holding to your anger will only cause you to become bitter. Mch's father was telling yzm of his guilt for not reconciling with his father, so he's afraid yzm will live with such regret later in life when his father will not be there anymore. This gives me a bad feeling that something will really happens to yzm's father.

When you don't grow up with such a caring mother, you crave the attention i guess. Mch got annoyed with her mother constant care, while yzm and the new girl who were neglected by their own mothers both like her and think she's a good mother.
