This drama is a very good watch for so many to enjoy, so I think it deserves the rating. Personally I don't put too much emphasis on rating, since people opinions differ from each other, not everyone will have the same rating for the dramas you like, the same can be say for the dramas I like.

Beside the main leads, the two girls from the food service, I also like the ml's attendants. Really liking their interactions, they seem much closer to him than just mere servants ^^

Xukai in royal feast is just so fine, he might be the great imperial grandson, but he does not put on air and are kind to his servants. Also he love nature and animal, is his character going to be even more perfect than fuca fuheng ^^

I don't doubt there are eyes and ears everywhere in the palace, but the ml move his residence away from the palace, so he could have peace and quiet, so aside from his guards no one could come in. I watched other cdramas too, I just don't rate it beside xukai dramas, he was the one actor that got me interested in watching Chinese dramas. The only drama I watch of wu Jin Yan is story of yanxi palace, so I can only compare her acting to that drama since i'm more into historical drama than modern drama, her character in royal feast is different from wei yingluo, she's much softer, more learn than yingluo, and also more forgiving. Her smartness come from her being more educated, rather than the street smart of yingluo. I like her acting so far that I seen from her in royal feast since I like to see actors/actresses playing different roles.

Wang yi zhe is the singer for the ending ost, he's not a bad singer. Makes me also want the main leads to sing an ost together ^^

This actor in so many dramas with xukai from court lady, royal feast, she and her perfect husband, and now his new rumor drama le yu yuan. Wonder if they're friends since I even seen him playing basketball with xukai in some fan videos.

It's only starting. If you want conflict, it's usually toward the half way points. This is my own experience in watching dramas, with this drama I'm hoping for it to stay happy and focus on the food, but I'm afraid it will get much darker.

There was a boat ride outside the forbidden city, I'm assuming that was the southern trip you are talking about. The second empress cut her hair and divorce her husband, but that was much later toward the end of the drama.

Also saying wu Jin Yan character is smart so she can't look around, if her character was written as a young impressionable girl, then it's natural for her curiosity to get the better of her. Also it's not like she was in the presence of a high rank official, she was with those guards who accompanied her to bring food to the imperial grandson. Also she was alone when she enters his study, so who is going to reprimand her lol.

In term of acting, I like their acting so far, nothing much to complain. I really like xukai acting in falling into your smile and ancient love poetry so I have to disagree with you. Characters who are quiet, but smart and capable tend to be whom I'm attracted to. Those are the characters that are the most interesting when you understand their inner thoughts and feeling. It's not that his acting fluctuate, it's just you don't like those characters, xukai has always been a natural actor, and he has only improve in his acting, he's starting to play much more difficult characters, and they're constantly changing. Hope he keeps finding new and better scripts with different characters to play. I like all his dramas, but I tend to refer him playing more serious roles. Can't wait for more eps of royal feast ^^
