I disagree, I gave this drama 6 star rating, and mind you I absolutely adore!! BinBin and Reba, I'm being nice…
Not every story has to be cute/innocent. Are all tragedies, crime dramas, horrors, thrillers bad just because the theme and characters aren't light, fluffy benevolent heroes where the villains are evil caricatures? This story is clearly about abuse. No question. The reality with abusers is that they're not all bad, and they may be victims of abuse and childhood trauma themselves... I think he wanted to love her and for her to love him, but he simply didn't know how to do that without manipulating possessing and controlling her. But, I don't see this story as glorifying abuse. The abuse is like a web and they can't get out. She has to die to get away. Many women have had to make this choice in abusive relationships. And many messed up abusers suffered from abuse when they were young themselves. Their abuse means they never learn how to have healthy relationships, I see that in the ML. He doesn't know love that isn't controlling and manipulative. As for her, I think she gets a degree of Stockholm Syndrome. Despite herself, she develops feelings for him and feels compassion for him... It's messed up, yeah, (no doubt) but a lot of human nature is messed up. Why shouldn't a drama explore those themes? Not every drama has to be the same with a Disney-style happy ending with black and white characters. This drama explores the shades of grey... That's how I see it anyway...! :-)
I also think his handsomeness adds to his character. Terrifying and beautiful. Like a vampire... Lures you in and then sucks the life out of you. :D
couldn't agree more! Not every drama must have a happy ending it would be so boring and this ending was reasonable.
Personally, I prefer a happy ending for C dramas, because they're long and often have a lot of ups and downs. A happy ending is calming after all that turbulence. I don't mind tragic endings for films because I invest less time and emotional energy in them...
Did you make it or are you still in need of spiritual support? lol
For me, I just find it too frustrating, especially the later turn of events... Plus, it's hard to sympathise with the ML as he just gets more and more cruel. He treated his wife like crap and then is like, "Oh I can stop pretending" and just expect her to reciprocate after years of mistreatment and coldness.
