Oh no is it getting heated and intense again? I don’t want to read them hahaha. I share the same sentiments,…
Haha thanks! I think it would satisfy everyone. All MLs get a HE (for a while at least lol).
I haven't looked at any spoilers for S2, I'd rather not know. I want to see how it goes. They did such a good job with S1, I hope they will accomplish the same with S2.

I think that's a shame. This drama is so deep it needs to go to those dark places for the characters to really make sense. It's also it's bravery in tackling those topics that makes it so unique.
I really just wish TSJ could fade away and just come back in the end. I don't dislike him, I just don't find him as interesting as the others. He definitely wins the wholesome ML prize.
In my ideal S2, she would elope with XL and hide away with him and have a happy love together and then they'd be separated by war and politics and she would think he had abandoned her. CX would find her and take her back but she would be pregnant with XL's baby and marry CX for the sake of the baby. Meanwhile XL would also think that she abandoned him, but then find her again and discover she had given birth to an adorable white haired baby. All is forgiven, but she is married and Empress. Then he would sacrifice himself, die and she would become consumed by grief. CX would become more and more consumed by power and jealousy, and eventually she'd leave him and marry TSJ to soothe her wounded heart. The end. 😁😁😁

Oh no, censorship has ruined so many dramas, if it messes this one up I will be devastated. I think S1 is one of the best fantasy C dramas ever made. Top 10 for sure. What do you think censors could have objected to in the second half?
For sure, if XY had never got lost, she and CX would be end game, but then there wouldn't be a story... I think if XL had confessed to her early on and been open with her, things might have been very different. Those two have shared trauma and a deep understanding of each other. If he hadn't pushed her away so much with his abuse, it would be different. Xiaoyao is a deeply traumatised character with abandonment issues, I think that's what attracts her the most to both TSJ and XL. XL and her share the same understanding of suffering, but I think he makes her feel vulnerable which is frightening to her and I think TSJ's constant warmth, devotion and gentleness makes her feel safe. She is constantly expressing how rational she is when making choices in her love life, so I think she thought TSJ was the safest bet to invest in. She's one of those tough on the outside, fragile on the inside people just like XL, which is why I think even he understands how she is drawn to TSJ. Actually, he's a surprisingly selfless character despite being so messed up. Cangxuan meanwhile is like her anchor in the turbulent world. They also have a trauma bond but from childhood. The exploration of the psychology of trauma is really well done in this drama!
I just watched a devastating clip on Facebook that seems to be Xiangliu's goodbye to Xiaoyao. *weeps*

Oh you are a minority! I am very fond of Cangxuan as well. The most aggressive shippers are the Xiangliu-Tushan Jing defenders lol. I feel like a lot of them miss the point trying to argue over which one she loves when clearly she loves both and has a very different relationship and bond with them.
I have been wondering whether they're going to be faithful to the original text or make some changes. I haven't read the book, but I have heard who she ends up with. I have my own perfect storyline for this second part lol but I doubt the story will go as I hope. However, I kind of hope they don't follow the original text because that would mean we don't know what to expect....
I agree I think the complexities of this drama are what makes it so interesting. It's realistic in that sense. In C dramaland we're so used to the idea of one ML and one FL who are made for each other but really she could be happy with any of these men (except Fenglong who honestly I don't even consider a ML) and it entirely depends on the choices and circumstances... and the bravery of the MLs because let's face it 2/3 of them haven't even been open to her about how they feel! Tushan Jing is the only one who has openly confessed. I wonder how differently the story would have progressed thus far if Cangxuan and Xiangliu had also been open about their feelings. Personally, my preference leans towards Cangxuan or Xiangliu, but I know that Tushan Jing has a lot of good qualities as well that make XY feel safe and loved, I just find his lack of a backbone frustrating.
I am so excited! I can tell from the comments the war between shippers is getting heated. I think Cangxuan, Xiangliu and Tushan Jing are all beautiful, flawed characters who all love Xiaoyao and Xiaoyao loves them back. We know this isn't a Disney style Prince Charming/Mr. Right drama. Who she ends up with entirely depends on how the events of the story unfold... Will she join Cangxuan and become his Empress? Will she abandon everything and live a free, joyful life with Xiangliu? Or will she find comfort and stability with Tushan Jing? All good outcomes imo as long as it is her choice!
Team Xiaoyao!
(Alternative solution: she marries Cangxuan and has her own harem with two gorgeous consorts Consort Xiangliu and Consort Jing muhahaha)
I love this drama SO much. Liu Yifei has done it again and delivered a deep and profound story with insights into the human experience. I see so much of myself through the years in Meigui. The experiences, the relationships, the growth, the life lessons. It's so moving and so insightful. One of the best mature modern dramas since Meet Yourself.
They are really dragging this out. I love long dramas, but this story could have been reduced by several episodes without impacting the flow of the story.
