Why are some sad people downrating episodes that haven't even aired yet? 🤦‍♀️

The drama was split into 2 parts. You have to watch the first part to understand the second. No one knows the ending because it hasn't aired yet.

😭😭😭 The question is whether I can bear to watch it a few episodes at a time. Ideally I'd prefer to wait till it's finished airing, but it will be impossible to avoid spoilers... and will I be able to resist?

Totally agree. It shows a kind of stylistic indecisiveness and a problem with pace. I also think at times, it becomes a bit overstylised like a photoshoot with all the slowmo running scenes with wind and sleeves flapping. Some of the scenes just seem random and disjointed, like the one where she is bathing in the flower petals. It was so random. It would have been better to tie that scene with some context and flow.

This drama falls into the same trap that many C dramas do. It wastes screentime on silly scenes with irrelevant characters in the beginning and then misses out on the opportunity to really flesh out the dramatic ending scenes. I think this drama would have been better off committing to being dark, intense and serious but it feels like they were trying to do this drama in different styles. The comedic silly characters were not well done but the heavy, dramatic scenes and characters were. I have mixed feelings about this drama. In some ways it's excellent, in others it really misses the mark.

Her original name is also Xue Fangfei / Xue Li. Historical Chinese have a formal and informal name only used by loved ones.

That could be a plot point. He would be the fun consort with privileges whereas TSJ would be the domestic one who cooked and sewed and looked after the kids lol. Xiangliu would steal the kids for adventures and get in trouble for taking them outside the palace without permission lmao.

I honestly find him more of a support character. He doesn't measure up to the others. I don't see why he is billed as ML. He doesn't even deserve to be on the poster. 🤣
