well 15 years a part and people were angry at ml fls 8 years . imagine...
I have no issue with age gaps in relationships providing both are on the same wave length, but she acts like a little girl and that makes it feel a bit creepy and predatory.
ow, so were they supposed to kiss? it looked quite naturally that she ran away. but i was wondering why woud the…
I just saw a review like that and it's ridiculous. I think he looks younger than he did in Story of Minglan. Maybe he's had work done...lol Also I know men in their 20s who look older than him. I really REALLY can't stand ageism in dramas. I don't just want to see 21 year olds. I get that a teen might think 44 is really old, but adult viewers? No excuse. Just ridiculous.
How old is the FL supposed to be? Unless she is 15/16 nothing justifies her acting. I actually had to stop watching…
You mean the baby voice? If it's that, I'd give it some time. Chinese audiences expect an infantilised FL. She will probably "grow up" before or by episode 20. lol
Anyone who is wondering why such a good drama that has only just started has such low scores... Well... Perhaps it's because there are some seriously RIDICULOUS viewers out there who think Feng Shaofeng is "sooooo old". He's 44, and honestly, he looks really good for his age. I know men in their 20s and early 30s who look older than him. I hope anyone who is bashing this show for that reason gets a face full of wrinkles, grey hair and balding long before they are 44. So fricking ageist. Can we not have some range in our dramas? Or does EVERY lead have to be under 25? Give me a break. I cannot stand good dramas being bashed for such stupid reasons, while crappy dramas with beautiful 21 year old leads get 10 stars. SIGH
These kinds of values lead to low quality dramas with beautiful young actors who can't act because they are humouring audiences that have no taste.
I am watching ep 29 right now. The way she behaved in the restaurant after the big event was just insane. I would have dumped her then and there if I was Tao Junhui. Disgraceful.
In more ways than one. He screwed up his relationship with Qin Shi because of his narrow minded mother and then had the cheek to blame her! Of course, Wu fei has the wrong idea and thinks he's the innocent party. Now he's suffering karma from choosing a young princess like Wu Fei.
Seriously I don’t know how they allow this biatch of Wu Fei to behave in such unprofessional way. She should…
Because Chinese culture is only merit based if you're not the elite... Getting jobs through connections and using your family's influence is pretty common. Wu Fei is the elite. She can have whatever she wants and get whatever job she wants cause she's a spoiled princess and the lawfirm wants to take advantage of her family and their connections.
I can't stand her either. She started off quite likeable but now I abhor her whiny, jealous, awful behaviour. Outrageous.
What’s the significance of the female lead wearing her hair up as opposed to wearing her hair flowing down?…
In many patriarchal cultures, hairstyles differ for women whether they're married or unmarried, so that men can clearly see whether someone is taken or not. *rolls eyes*
But you should be aware this is a historical fantasy drama, not historically accurate drama. The costumes in this drama are more of a modern interpretation of Hanfu (traditional clothing).
There are a few dramas with more authentic costumes for their period like Story of Yanxi Palace (Qing Dynasty) and Court Lady (Tang Dynasty) or Longest Day in Chang'an (also Tang Dynasty), but they are very different types of drama from this one. Authentic makeup almost never happens, but you can see that in the last two dramas with white faces and red cheeks.
This drama has a lot of laugh out loud moments and wholesome themes. It's no cinematic masterpiece and intellectually "light", but an enjoyable watch for sure. For those who can't stand fluffy dramas, this is tolerable on the fluff scale.

Right. Rant over.
Disgraceful.
