I've said that before! Glad to know I'm not the only one. 😅
Before I watched the drama and saw YWY I wouldn't have believed it based on his picture here, but when he came on screen I was like, oh damn, I totally see it!
FSF is really in a league of his own in this drama. When he confronted General Jie, that scene was so powerful…
Haha yeah, when he had his hair loose and sitting with the fan, love it. He comes across as so eccentric. Also the guy who played the headmaster, ah what's his name... These two had such chemistry. Amazing.
I would give Minglan another shot if I were you. It is slice of life, but there's also a lot of drama in there. I think it is one of the most profound C dramas there is.

Yeah! It's a great xianxia. I love Nini too. She absolutely blew me away with her performance in Rise of the Phoenixes. Love & Destiny was a very different style of drama but so beautifully done. The characters evolve and have such depth. As any good xianxia, it takes you to all the highs and lows... What are your favourite xianxias? My favourites are:
Ancient Love Poetry Love & Destiny Eternal Love of Dream 10 Miles of Peach Blossom
Re undue hate.. Chinese audiences are too narrow minded about beauty and age so they reject non-typical pairings or leads. Such a shame. Chang Chen is such a gorgeous man and immensely talented actor with international renown, but they objected to him because he was over 40. SIGH....
Can I know why the ML didnt come back for Season 2?
Chen Feiyu had a packed schedule and the producers wanted to quickly film season 2 so in their impatience, they replaced him with Dylan Wang. Generally speaking, seasons that change cast (especially when it's a lead role) end up as a flop... But I decided to keep an open mind and watched the second season. However, Chen Feiyu fans became rabid and made it their mission to attack season 2, whom we can thank for the lack of a Season 3.... (Also some fans of the first season found the change of actor ruined it.)
However, I actually thought Dylan Wang did a good job playing Ning Que. He had a tenderness towards Sang Sang that Chen didn't have. Wang massively scaled back on the bad behaviour towards Sang Sang.
Providing you go into season 2 with an open mind, it is not bad, but of course, it's an unfinished story, which is a shame. I would have loved to see a third part to finish the story.
If you watch the second part, make sure to not watch it too soon after watching the first or the change in lead can feel jarring.

Ashes of Love was great too! It was one of the first ones I watched.
Have you watched Story of Minglan? I think Gu Tingye was Feng Shaofeng's strongest role. Very authentic, funny, witty but great range of emotion too.

But this drama sounds dull... Hope it turns out good.
