I couldn’t have said it better my self. Those scenes are unrealistic even with trauma explanation 😂 But it gave viewers something to clap about I guess.

I love how smart LX is and thinks of better ways while LJQ has also been shown to be strategic in his own way. They complement each other perfectly.

So I noticed something LJQ said something in episode 30 - “Isn’t it because you still can’t let go of him that you resent me using my power?”

This is a man fully aware of the era and social structure he lives in. Women’s path and sometimes men is heavily structured around marriage and most times the individuals have no say. So if a woman who is not IN LOVE with anyone is married off to a young , healthy, handsome and wealthy man from a prestigious family why would she necessarily see that marriage as something to resent? They’re not living in 2026, where we expect people to marry primarily for love and personal choice. Marriage is simply the reality they’ve been raised to understand.

So I believe if not for the Shen family death and earlier broken engagement Lanxiang would not be crashing out over the imperial decree or forced marriage cos forced marriages are not an extraordinary concept in such setting.

That’s why LJQ is also attributing the reason to Scholar Han because how else can he explain her behavior? Because he knows forced marriage cannot be the reason for this coldness.

To him, there has to be someone she is still emotionally attached to and Scholar Han is the obvious explanation.

Some comments said he is enjoying pretty privilege and i am wondering if they would have preferred the directors cast an ugly male lead 😩 So beauty is now a crime. Lol!

Her family did not die a day before that family elders greeting so the directors trying to use that or broken engagement as a reason for that attitude just fell flat for me. She however conveniently regained her senses when she was about to visit her own family.

These period-drama settings usually take greetings and showing proper respect to elders very seriously. Even the ex-wife, who openly hated her in-laws, would never have simply stood there behaving like that in the presence of the family elders.

And as for Trauma, her parents weren’t killed the day before. She had already worked for the Lins, so these weren’t complete strangers to her, and her own servants were right there watching her behave so disrespectfully. SMH. The whole scene felt completely out of place for the era, it belongs in 2026, not in this period drama. 😂 And a child showing disrespect to her elders in such a setting reflects badly on her parents and i don’t see Lanxiang as someone who wants that and that’s why she made smsome peace with her husband to visit her parents. So that earlier scene was just unnecessary.

My point is even the ex wife with how she hated the Lins would not be disrespectful during greeting. Those eras take that greeting of elders seriously. Unless LXs parents were killed a day before that scene was unrealistic.

That scene made absolutely no sense. It just displayed lack of home training and reflects badly on her parents. Totally out of character for her to do and i am not buying the trauma excuse. She had been working there and is not a stranger to etiquette. Imagine acting like that in front of a family patriarch in such a society where filial respect and deference to elders are deeply ingrained. 😩 Why didn’t her trauma cause her to misbehave when she was still a servant? Imagine the servants even preparing soup to help her and she was just there staring at them. lol!

When they were solving cases and issues cropping up things were more interesting. Agreed.

Exactly. The directors threw his haters a little consolation prize to soothe their wounded hearts. 😂 Unfortunately, they still went and gave him a son, thereby ensuring the patriarchal system lives on. 🙃 Hope his haters won’t stage a protest at the Chinese embassy.

The fl should never be made to forgive her kidnapper and trafficker cos it will be a disservice to how far we have come as women in 2026 🤪 How will the male lead know his actions are wrong when he eventually gets the girl? She should sustain this anger till episode 47 when he dies. That is the most fitting punishment to assuage all the broken hearts in the comment section 🥲

When I rewatched i realized even the public slap is 2026 behavior. It just doesn’t fit. This is a society where Emperor comes first followed by parents before individual desire. So why acting like an imperial marriage decree is so strange. SMH. I would only understand her behavior if she was marrying into the royal family and even then she would dare not cause a public embarrassment.
