I gave up western shows long time ago for lack of content.

I fast forwarded through most of The Twelve. There are some dramas you can watch while ... exercising, etc. LOL to me it was a research project to see WHY it was so hyped up and what ppl expected, and what they complained about. I also "met" the main actor what is his name? the martial arts fighter who was the tiger AND producer and made The Twelve as "his" drama, most scenes of his fat as@ slugging along in tiger pajamas.

BAYM is cliche flat bc of FL who cannot act. But she acted enough to bounce off the hilarious ML actor. Watching ML actor was amazing bc he was so ALIVE and had so much fun acting it and overdoing it and making it funny. He was 100% unplugged LOL It was inspirational. And since he is a new actor without experience, he could get only short sentences and scenes, so they filled it up with food.
Just like in the western media they fill it with 18+ and violence.

I dont like cdramas bc they are a lot more crude than kdramas, no humor, no warmth. Goes with th territory ;) China is a hell place. C-dramas are mostly about survival, no character growth.

But when Chinese make something it is WOW. Like 2016 movie about the monk who walked to India to get Buddhist texts. Xuang Zhang . WOW! Koreans never made anything that deep that I am aware of. . That movie is WOW!!! it is on youtube.
Stephen Chow made a fun pre-sequel to that, how th monk got ready for the trip, movie Journey to the West.

Thai dramas can be cute, and they are always more rambuctious than kdramas, but also could be quite lewd. One of my favs of all times is Thai movie A First Thing Called Love.

I love Hong Kong stuff. Stephen Chow's famous Shaoling Kung Fu, Kung Fu Husstle, etc are amazing masterpieces and show well why China/Chinese is the way it is

Japanese dramas seem so simplistic!!! with simplistic acting.. I tried a few. The only one I really liked was Only for The Married, the FL actress is just amazing!!!! I also saw some really pornographic creepy melodramas and ran away, and I saw a little bit of dramas that advertise high school bullies and working for jakuza so that was like whaaat... ? Seriously it is a high school students who are COOL bc they are bullies and want to work for jakuzza later. The drama glorifies that!!!! Japanese culture is quite complex.... isnt it...

So Romantics Anonymous was a pleasant surprise, that Japanese ML was so expressive and emotional... and acted american. I researched him, he was trained in theater in Japan and acted in Hollywood movies. DO YOU KNOW HOW THEY MADE HIS HAIR THAT BLACK AND SHINY?
Another Japanese movie I liked is the one about keeping an old onsen hot spa bath operational and not selling it.
A good japanese piece has a knack of telling hte story SLOOOWLY and really focusing on the main issues. And going DEEP. Romantics Anonymous is so zen.

I remember masterpiece Italian movie "Perfect Strangers" bc it was acted so well and is a complex ... psychological thriller. Nobody redid it better than the original imo. BAYM is a way better drama than KTL imo bc of the ML in Bon Appetit - he was on fire! he was so vibrantly enthusiastic. Also, he was a complex character and acted well. Just watching him was worth it. I dont think we will get a performance like that soon bc he ssemed stoked he got a leading role in a major drama, it was his ticket up :) and he took it and flew!
Junho in KTL was ... well... blah bland kinda boring. I do not even remember him. I remember the posh looking rooms. That's it.

The dramas LOOK the same bc the FL is the same actress and she acts *** exactly the same *** in both dramas, same facial expressions and behavior, 100% exactly the same, she has no acting skills...

First night with the Duke is slightly different bc FL is very competent and confident, not a damsel in distress, so she saves the day a few times. There, ML was made so simple, straight out of a cartoon, "only good and moral he-man Superman soldier" for most episodes. he was an advertisement for military. But the FL was very interesting.

Yeah let's see which issues DK can resolve in 6 episodes.. THE KEY ISSUE IS HOW TO HEAL TRAUMA as both ML and FL are troubled teenagers, imo. That's how I watched this drama - young ppl drama about two troubled teenagers discovering hormones and adulthood.

In the preview, JH resorts to his cruel self and then falls for her kiss charms when she comes to apologize. He makes DR jealous by "kissing" HY, so maybe scared DR gets her share of pain and wakes up and thn learns they are not together and gets into action fast enough to claim him. He grabs her without too many questions asked, seems like. Tsk his hormones... He is stuck now with a child in adult body.

I really do not see how she will grow up that fast, only 6 episodes. Perhaps.. time skip? Doubt it. Perhaps... she goes to a different job and becomes successful there so it gives her confidence quickly? perhaps she takes a course in ... taikwando and becomes nimble on her feet? And learns to swim LOL
Perhaps their moms step in to teach them a few things about life? The common denominator for ML and FL is their unhealthy devotion to their moms, since their moms were doozies to them. ML's mom already figured it out with the help of FL's mom so perhaps...

I am interested in ML's acting bc I knew him way back from My Mister and My Roommate is a Gumiho. Seems like he will become an international star if DK is #1 on Netflix. His face can look so scary, even his smile, and also kind. He can do all kinds of roles.
I am not impressed with FL actress in DK. At all. The script crushed her but also she is too flat.

I want to see the 2ML from The Nice Guy again (but in a quality drama. TNG imo was ... trash). That actor has an amazing range. He was a great cruel gangster in love, and imo can do anything from thrillers to rom com to melodrama he so expressive and can act mean or lovey dovey easily.
To think of it, another one like that is the good guy stunt son from Once Again, who was in My Troubled Star as a villain, another face that can flip between vile and fun, but ... he acts the same everywhere.... in other words, he does not really act LOL So I am not counting him here. I do not need to watch him again :)

Skilled FLs are rare.... So that is why I am even more and objectively totally impressed with acting of FL in Nice to Not Meet You. She is the main villain from The GLory. Rare to see a female actor with such amazing skillZ. She is a totally diferent character just with her body language. In NNTMY, she *is* the nerdy reporter. In Glory, she *is* the glo slut/killer. Honestly I would have no idea who she is in real life. She is such a cameleon.
The music and camera work is amazing too. Nice to Not Meet You is a very high quality romcom+.
Bad actors always act the same so it is very easy to see that it is their behavior in real life, they are just themselves and saying a few words of their character.
Moon River has amazing scenes from last week when ML and FL switched bodies and had to impersonate each other, Omg they are so talented in mimicking every expression! Esp FL - she copied movements of ML so that his acting got exposed... minute things like stiff neck forward and bobbing it, etc. ML was hilarious mimicking typical female acting and overdoing it... Otherwise the drama is not a top drama imo

OMG we found each other! I watched Bon Apettit... and then recently watched King the Land when I was doing research in Junho since his idol fans were praising his role there.

So... very fast I realized that King the Land looks awfully familiar!!!! Then I realized it is the same FL, acting EXACTLY the same, just in different costume, and the ML is EXACTLY the same type of rich cruel selfish guy,... and it is the same kind of plot, but in a hotel, not Joseon. Even the cooking...

so basically, they copied King The Land drama and just put it into a different environment, increased the volume on "tyrant", added more cooking and called it Bon Apettit Your Majesty.
Brilliant way to save money LOL Now I am starting to see how the kdrama industry churns out zillion "new" dramas, a "unique new drama" every 6-8 weeks

Yes in DK, DR has to make an honest move or else the whole drama will fall through

But as far as I can tell, she gets exposed, so now he knows she is not married, so as soon as she confirms - only bc she is exposed, so she has to - he just bags her right there on the spot and that's it. No character growth. We will see :)

I chalk it up as time I invested in learning how dramas can be ruined.
I can fast forward through all scenes that are boring i.e. scenes with FL. What interests me is only scenes with ML across the screen bc he acts well and it is interesting to me how ML actor grew in his roles.

As I was counting dramas I did as "research projects in bad dramas", I had to lookup a name o a top-10 drama that was on Netflix.

And I can tell why :) JH character is a raging bull in the mating season, his brain is not functioning from excess heat, and THAT kind of character is EXTINCT in the West esp the USA :) Testesterone is low in the USA bc of the plastic pollution that turns male Y-chromosome into X-cromosome and because of mass produced food and fast food that have little/no nutrition.
Plus JH has morals and is a loyal nice guy in love. THAT kind of character is EXTINCT in the USA :) On top of it, he is handsome and rich and smart. Those exist still LOL The West does not mind an airhead FL bc they see that all the time... And this kdrama has a LOT more sexual scenes that a typical kdrama, so american audience will be happy to get their dose of it. They are addicted to it :) And kdramas are relatively respectful about the subject so - although the kdrama audience might find this drama a little too racy, the american audience will like it.

Straight women and gay men must love watching this drama. Americans in general are used to seeing s#x in entertainment in great quantities so to them this drama is "clean PG rated but still fun" and they will watch that. And pay for it. They do not care much for the content and honestly cannot comprehend anything beyond the basic simple obvious stuff like poop jokes and s#x... But even that has to be explained, you got to see two people in bed in the act to KNOW thre was that involved... Omg so simplistic.... They are conditioned to watch shicking meaningless stuff with lots of s#x and violence....

So Koreans can rake in tons of money by catering to that and compromise the quality.

On MDL and many other sites, ppl complain about the plot and are ready to drop bc of dragging the lies and thus dragging the plot, and flakey FL and clingy 2ML. But who cares, if $$$$$$ start rolling in from american side... LOL

Sad but ... american tastes are gonna kill kdramas, because of $$$$$

For how long? As the usa keeps going down economically... I guess it will always have $15/mo to pay or Netflix... ? if they dont spend all their money on "medical marijuana" LOL and other toys... Tinder is free? The USA is totally 99% infested with drugs and porn. Sometimes I feel like the last Mohican, the only person that never did drugs booze etc is not on Tinder, etc. There might be a few others LOL but definitely an endangered species... The USA lives like Idiocracy, 2006 movie... just like that movie. .. exactly like that movie.
I dont watch western entertainment bc it is meaningless. If kdramas go that route and become kollywood, I can drop them too :) I think I am learning enough now and can go on to learn something else :)

FYI Divine Will is a strange thing and sometimes you have to watch a piece of trash if directed to, bc you will learn from it.
For example:
I watched WYMM to the end and wondered why. I was studying it carefully, it was annoying trash. But I learned from it:
(0) First I realized that I was watching ML bc the actor was cute and I have never seen him before. That wore off quickly though bc he cannot act well.
(1) I learned how dramas are copied. FL was also FL in My Father is Strange, where she utterly annoyed me, bc she cannot act and her character is a flakey slimey liar. The rest of that drama is great so I just ignored her. But, SHE WAS THE EXACT SAME IN WYMM. *****The script writer just took her from MFIS and plopped her into WYMM with a different name. **** THE SAME EXACT SAME ACTING AND CHARACTER. Even the same clothing. Wow a way to save on script and acting costs... *****
(2) At the very end, I got an amazing learning from WYMM because I was so annoyed and something in me protested so deeply that I reached a Higher State of Being and something inside me spoke something very wise that was a terrific lesson for me personally. That lesson is priceless. I passed a Test and demonstrated I transformed.

(3) I learned why the audience forgave the trepid lying FL - bc she was kind. At the end, she was telling her villain ex that she does not wish him anything bad and that it makes her feel sad when he suffers so if he could please let go and move on.

I watched Typhoon Family although it was mediocre at best..., but I learned about IMF crisis and S Korea... and at the very very end, last scene of ep 16, I learned about Ah Ji Hwan song "People are more beautiful than flowers." Look up the lyrics. The "kdrama magic" is captured in that song. Also, I learned about idols, singers, idol fans, etc. when Junho's fans went after me. I had no idea who Junho is, I "met" him for the first time ever, and his idol fans promoted him heavily and protected him with sheer aggression and violence. I also realized he cannot sing but he is an idol. His group is also not the best dancers either. But they are all cute young guys. That is what matters to be an idol...

I watched The Twelve, it was a total flop and all comments were negative. We all waited for it to change. I fast forwarded through most of it and wrote it off as my study of drama failure. At the end of the last episode, which was as bad as the rest, the audience wrote comments which were hilarious beyond hilarious. I was literally falling off my chair laughing. Those comments on MDL entertained me for days. Check them out.

I wathed daily revenge drama and learned about a whole different world of the audience that roots for revenges.

I watched Bon Apettit Your Majesty and learned about that audience, It felt I was in some huge lively restaurant. So busy, everyone talking, excited, and ... no content LOL it was one of the most shallow discussions ever... They also talked about food... Food was a character in that drama and took a lot of screen time and made the drama quite boring. Somewhat educational, I felt like I was in a cooking class.

I watched Beyond the Bar law drama and learned about that audience. So mental, so nitpicking on "administrative details" like age difference between ML and FL, totally missing on their flirting, and ah so boring and blind. Wow.

I watched Romantics Anonymous j-k drama when I was doing research on top 10 non-English shows on Netflix. That was educational!!!! The Japanese were coached by Koreans and produced a kdrama-like piece, so unlike other Japanese dramas, but with totally Japanese touches which made it unique and actually... in some ways better than a kdrama. And in some ways a lot worse. I could verbalize the advantages of kdramas a lot better...

I watched cdrama Bond and can verbalize differences between c and k dramas a lot better... Bond is one of the few cdramas ever I liked - and I was not thrilled about it - and now i know why...

Will SU wake up? He has a son and has reasons and push to wake up asap. HY is so alive and vibrant and might shatter his armor bc she seems a suitable mom for Jun. Jun has the potential to shatter the armor of his dad. BECAUSE JUN IS HONEST.

I dont think the drama will totally change FL. JH is portrayed as a bull in mating season without any ability to use his brain, so he will probably take DR no matter how weak or slimey liar she is and act as her father who also fu@ks her.

Most Kdramas insist on weak women and this drama is an overdose.
This drama is a copy of Would you Marry Me, yet another trepid slimey weak liar FL who stays quite slimey and weak till the end.

This is the signature trait in most kdramas, to keep the women weak. THE PLOT IS CREATED BY A DUMB IRRATIONAL WOMAN AND A SMART MAN WHO SAVES HER.
This plot sells well bc it is the fantasy of all immature women, that they can do whatver they want and some handsome nice dude will keep saving them and adoring them as a princess.
This plot is a key in societal brainwashing that keeps women down, it normalizes women as weak. Women are 50% of population and hold very little resources and power, so male population that is only 50% of population holds almost 100% of all resources and power. Do you see why so many ppl are invested in promoting these dramas that help to keep the women down? They are baiting the audience on their weakness - the fantasy that a loser woman finds Mr Right Sugar Daddy - and entice women to willingly keep powerless and dreaming how they will be saved,

Keeping FL as a damsel in distress snowflake liar is intentional, as the sexism promotes these weak women who cannot function without a man running their life... Basically kdramas promote women as helpless brainless powerless small children, dependent on some strong men who act as essentially their father who also fu@ks them. That is the essence of it - mass brainwashing into obedience and male dominance. The man is smart, capable, leads, makes rational decisions, saves the weak from falling on their face, etc. The man is the king. The woman is a child. It is quite disgusting. Western media promotes the same, it just looks differernt, they promote slutty Barbie dolls. West also has an agenda to destroy the family (bc that promotes consumerism etc) so portraying men is a complex issue, they are seldom family figures
So far kdramas have less problems than western media and have some good messages that well outweight the problems, e.g. I like their family emphasis and good life habits, so that's why I watch them, but sometimes the underlying manipulation becomes too much, like in this drama, they totally went overboard

I think JW is aware that she hurt SH by marrying him just to use him. She apologized to him and to his mother. That was one nice thing JW did.
But she does not love SH and never loved him. She is just sorry for what she did to him.
Maybe she will grow to love him one day, but so far, JW is incapable of love, so it is going to take a while.
Also, SH is right now a puppy love, obsessed with her and his love is not very mature, so I wonder how long it will last. Like that scene where he finds her injured and HN helping her, he asks first i she is cheating with HN instead of asking how she is doing.

I think SH is gonna get tangled with RealYC and to be honest, I think they might be a good match if she manages to become more stable. She has lived in a horror story all her life and responded well to care and love from HR. So she might recover with proper care, if she can find it.. HR hates her now LOL Maybe living with SH will help her... So..... maybe :)

But I have reservations about it it bc his love is too immature and might not last. I think SH is just obsessed with her, it is not real love. Like, his jealousy is more important than if she is injured or not.
