I really dgaf about the age gap. I just want this drama to air already. Hou Ming Hao in another historical 😍I need him in long hair, and those galloping on a horse and sword fighting in armor scenes. No matter how they tone down the romance because of the actual age of the FL, Hou Ming Hao has chemistry with everyone so he will make the chemistry felt. I can separate actors from their roles just fine. I usually wait until a cdrama is done, or close to done, airing because I like to binge watch, but I don’t know if I want to wait anymore with how long this took to get a release date.
Episodes 5 and 6 did NOT disappoint. Our Prosecutor Ju is in denial and has convinced himself of one thing to excuse his actions. Meanwhile Cheaha really hasn’t had a chance to process or make sense of this- those conflicting actions versus words from Taeseon are likely giving him whiplash. But we know Taeseon is down bad for him. That motel scene had me cracking up though. 🤭
I absolutely love this drama. Korea really put in effort with this one. I’m gonna be kinda empty when it’s over tbh. Only 2 more weeks left. I wish there were 16 episodes.

The novel is a bit better in terms of writing- though still very obviously omegaverse. If you’re not used to the genre, it can definitely be unsettling.
Because I have a psych degree, I could dive deeper into why these kinds of s/a or dubious consent only to fall in love later stories are so popular, both being authored by mostly women and watched by mostly women- that is, if you want to try to dive into the XX Chromosome mind-
A 2008 study by researchers for The US National Institute of Health stated that between 31-57% of women have fantasized about this at least once in their lives, and that this is actually a very common fantasy (reasons vary, from the freedom of relinquishing control and from having to make decisions, safe exploration of a taboo *cough cough ‘crime’*, them fantasizing about being irresistible to the aggressor that they couldn’t control their lust/desire, and showing greater imagination and openness to sexual experiences, as well as greater positivity towards sexuality, strangely enough.) This is contrary to reality, which the same women would say this happening in reality would be traumatic and expressed aversion to the same. They are adamant that consent in real life is mandatory- and I agree with them, of course. For my psychology-wired brain, it’s an interesting read, and makes a lot of these genres more understandable. It is fantasy, after all. Though how much it perpetuates a dangerous male-centric precedent is still up for debate.

Opinions differ- that’s the beaury of being a free-thinking evolved being. And since you’ve watched it and didn’t immediately stop when things got weird, you must also be a “weirdo”. Welcome to the dark side I guess (unless you’ve decided to drop here). I fast forwarded through that hot mess because I just couldn’t do it. Though I’m attracted to this series like I’m watching a train wreck. I know I CAN stop looking, but I’m not quite ready-yet. It was like that for me with My Golden Blood, too (so many people liked that drama, but I just couldn’t). There are scenes in this that are definitely “out there” and cringe in a way that’s unsettling.
By the way, if you REALLY want to see a psychotic series, I can suggest a few to you:

This series pales in comparison. I promise. The entirety of the 3 I listed (the 1 episode I watched and fast forwarded through most of- except SD- for some reason I kept hoping, and ffwding) is full of WTF moments that have you questioning all your life choices.

Not really scare him- more like he couldn’t control his anger over Pharsa’s suggestion that he couldn’t contain his pheromones. It wasn’t a threat, but it was a pressure that sat uncomfortably with him because he knew he was angry. He was afraid, but not in the way that he feared he would be the subject of violence- at least, in the novel:
There was no sound. No explosion. But Phatsa felt it immediately-the air around him growing heavier within the span of a heartbeat.
Nakhun's face went still in a different way, his dark eyes flashing cold, and something pressed outward from him before he even seemed to realize he was doing it.
Pheromones.
It was nowhere near as overwhelming as the moment Nakhun had smashed his way into Phatsa's house, but for Phatsa-who had been bound to him directly-this was already enough.
His body responded before his mind could. His heart lurched. His breathing snagged. His whole body went still as instinct screamed a warning that the man in front of him was genuinely angry.
Phatsa pressed his lips together hard, trying not to shrink back, but the harder he fought it, the hotter his eyes became, until before he could stop it, tears spilled over anyway.
He was startled by them himself.
Was he crying again?
For God's sake.
But the instant the first tear slid down his cheek, Nakhun's expression changed at once, like a man slapped back to his senses. The pressure in the room vanished immediately. He moved toward Phatsa quickly, then slowed halfway, as if afraid of frightening him even more.
"I'm sorry."
His voice had changed. Completely. There was no coldness left in it, no pressure, no force-only real alarm and barely concealed panic.
"I didn't mean to."
Phatsa, for his part, was mortified and furious enough to wish he could disappear on the spot. He hurriedly wiped at his tears with the back of his hand, trying to salvage whatever dignity he had left, but the more he wiped, the more they came, as though his body had decided humiliating him was its full-time job today.
Nakhun looked utterly lost. He no longer resembled an angry man at all, only someone who had no idea what to do with the damage he had just caused. In the end, he crossed the rest of the distance between them and pulled Phatsa into his arms without thinking.
I decided to follow a comment’s link further below and read the available episodes. The written version is actually written better than the script. Still with the info dump scene, but the descriptive paragraphs were more in line with what you expect in an omegaverse story, and the heat/rut scene and pheromone display was more sensual than that absurdly cringe raw animal instinct display we were given. I have absolutely zero desire to be subjected to that hot mess ever again. The endless second hand embarrassment was not the giggle kind.

You listed what my main issue with this series is so far- the wild assumptions based on ONE murder scene. I had to pause several times after that because I was so frustrated. While I imagine the author wanted us to think he’s a quick-quitter and brilliant investigator, these assumptions with no evidence could cause him, his team, and his department a lot of issues- calling something a serial anything puts the public in panic, which is something elected officials don’t want. No one above him is keeping him in check?

You are right though- that smile, and practicing it- screams psycho. Plus the psycho drawing of the creepy face earlier in. And why is he carrying around a hammer? His excuse is unbelievable. Better to say he found it and decided to keep it because he doesn’t have one at home. That is more plausible than “it fell into my work bag while I was fixing my chair”. Like, what? And his coworker was like, “…odd…but 👍🏽😊”
Me having to suspend belief because there’s no way a detective would conclude a serial killer after just 1 kill. And then assume a pattern with just one murder? Such wild assumptions based on zero evidence would get him laughed at. A serial killer must already have more than 2 kills under their belt. This person has only killed one when our ml detective labels this a serial killing. But then he disregards his sister’s comment about the manga she reads being similar to the second murder scene? No spidey senses tingling there, huh? But he somehow KNEW it was a serial killer after just ONE kill? And the patterns of the killer? Make it make sense. It’s gonna bug me how he just seems to “know” these thinks with no evidence to back it up. They should have put this assumption after at least the second body is discovered- then it’s his suspicion BECAUSE of the similarities to the kill (carvings). It would have added to the thriller and suspect aspect of the drama. Instead, viewers are spoon-fed this information early on. Why?
Why the jump to registered psychiatric patients as potential suspects? Because of the pentagram?
Why am I watching? The trailer looked good, so I took the bait.
