That was fucking crazy and I loved every minute of it. Very Korean John Wick. I did have to skip some of the splurting scenes because…yeah. Othwewise, the ending couldn’t have been different. I really do love Korean revenge dramas.
I just started ep 4 and I feel like Minami’s Sawako reminds me so much of Hagiwara’s Hira in My Beautiful Man in terms of demeanor and character, also in the social awkwardness that comes from being misunderstood by peers as a teen.
Just a thought. I’m really enjoying this cute little slice of Japanese High School (my first non-BL one) I stumbled upon.
So apparently the cast is down for Season 2 centered on their university life. Idk if that's ever gonna happen…
There are more than 2:
To My Star, but also Color Rush had an S2, and Love Class. Kissable Lips has a S2 coming, Unintentional Love Story had a prequel or backstory on the 2nd couple with the spinoff movie with A Time of Fever. Choco Milk Shake is coming with a S2, as well. Granted, many Japanese, Korean, and even Thai BLs don’t get second seasons, but there are more KBLs with S2s released and in production, as the country gradually becomes more accepting of LGBT+. If you haven’t watched them, give them a go. Now, I’m REALLY wanting a S2 for Love for Love’s Sake (MC), Jazz for Two (focusing on the SC), and Semantic Error. I’m not holding my breath though.
if only they followed the webtoon then it would have had a higher rating like lets be fr its bl not straight show
The hopes were high and the letdown was significant. Even the trailer made us think we’d see WAY more of our HeeSu and SeongWon together than this straight couple no one who is a fan of the webtoon cares about. So disappointing. I hope everyone involved in the production regrets butchering this after the reviews came out. They can only make it right by doing a S2 with 95% SeongWon and HeeSu’s dating era.
Actually, probably not. Maybe Japan should just take a shot at it as a FULL BL. They’d probably do it better. Or even Thailand at this point (not GMMTV though- even though I’d love to see Barcode play Seongwon opposite Lego maybe? 😉)
This is my second watch and it’s as disturbing and heartbreaking as the first watch. Yes, you need to read between the lines a lot. I wish it had been a series instead of a movie- plot holes and character/story development would have had more time with 8-12 episodes instead of an hour. The relationship between SeJun and Yun Jae would have had more time to develop and we’d see why SeJun became the way he was, and the same for YunJae- the story with his “father” and mother was left very open. Still, the last scene of the movie, after everything happens- I wish it were longer and had more time to fully develop. 5 minutes is not enough. There was a comment on the YouTube English translated one where the poster talks about what happens after, though they don’t say where they got that information from. Maybe there’s a special or after credits not shown in the YouTube version?
I’m sure I’ll be back in a year or so, when I’ve forgotten most of what makes this so disturbing, like I did this time to make me rewatch it. I first watched it because I wanted to see more of Choi TaeJoon after seeing him in So I Married an Anti-Fan. Color me surprised by the vast difference in content.
So far, it’s only being released on Wavve. Here in the US, it’s not an available app. That means even if you manage to get the website to create a login (it doesn’t like me for some reason), you will struggle watching if you don’t understand Korean. I don’t know. The site may have subtitles but it won’t let me get past the login screen. ☹️
OMG this is hilarious! it gets even more so with each episode. Seriously. I’m only at ep6 but I’m cracking up with each scheme planned and thwarted. The two MLs are truly matched. Tgd only way this would be better is if it really were a BL instead of friendship bromance. At least, for my BL loving heart. This drama is silly and unserious in a delightful way; I can’t help but enjoy it! The key is to go into this drama with this expectation of watching something unserious and just for fun. It’s obviously unbelievable, which makes it even more amusing.
They released 1-12 already, and it looks like the last 12 will be released by Friday. I’m looking forward to it. 😊
Just finished a rewatch. I need a season 2 with Tane a little older. Just a revisit 2-3 episodes…maybe 6. 😉 Maybe Tane is in high school and dad is retired and enjoying having 3 sons around. I don’t know. I just wish for more.
This is my first drama of the type (Chinese with period and supernatural/martial arts). Generally, I stay away from almost all period cdramas because of the floating and magical/mystical elements being over-the-top ridiculous (to me- please don’t take offense). However, I watched XZG in Spirealm (which I loved), so wanted to give this a try.
At first, I was watching this like crazy up until ep19 because of the CGI reminding me of a video game (even though I don’t play video games at all), then I took a loooooooooong break. I just started watching it again. I’m just skipping through parts I don’t care about. This makes it more enjoyable, I think.
JCW and WHJ together on screen was something I didn’t know I needed. I sat on this series for waaaaaay too long. Mostly because it was yet another subscription I’d have to get. But the chemistry between them was “IT” for me. It really makes a drama memorable. The message about what the worst of evil is…I get it. Shades of gray for everyone involved. Everyone has their line, and when crossed, how can you go back? Can you? Something is sacrificed along the way. How much depends on how far you go from that line. I don’t think the ending could have been different without losing something.
I hope JCW does more of these gritty roles. I love him in romance, but something about that adorably handsome face playing a gritty role gets me. I’m a sucker for shades of gray men, what can I say? I saw The K2 and, while I didn’t really care much for Yoona (sorry), I loved him in it. Something about JCW makes me happy when he does action movies. And WHJ? My oh my, is his villain someone I can’t hate. Like, why was I conflicted. Him in Bad & Crazy? LOVED!
I’ve seen a few dramas with main lead chemistry like this. I need more. Maybe Buried Hearts? I gotta make my Disney subscription worth it, after all.
