It's more disappointing when you like the actors of a drama which ends up disappointing. At least if one is indifferent about the actors, it doesn't fewl like such a Waste of a good actor...

I too have watched loooooots of 2000s melodrama. I tend to like them. They were entertaing in their melo, this was not. And the couples were actually shippable.. Here they were not. Actually Melo is my fave genre. Currently watching the Old Revenge Melo-romcom drama Birth of a Beauty, and it's a million timess better than this. 😅 Leads have fun personalities, entertaining writing, no boring moments, leads are shippable. Han Ye Seul acting a traumatized character really well, better than Lee Se Young, as mucha s I like LSY, i have to admit this....
Motel California on the other hand.... These two were only cute when young. There's no reason for them to be together as adults or be endgame. They are only annoying together, bring out the Worst in each other and have NO chemistry. 🤦♀️
If anything, this deserves more hate. I gave it 2/10 for bad writing, boring characters and unshippable leads with boring personalities.

The romance is very badly written. It's not realistic at all, and then it goes back and forth and ML has no backbone, total Whimp. It's just annoying. Bad writing.
I really WANTED to like this drama. And usually I disagree what MDListers opinion when they dislike a drama, but unfortunately I have to agree.
It had POTENTIAL, with Great cast, interesting setting with the Motel, FL had an interesting career as interior designer....But I simply didn't like it. Didn't see why the leads should even be together. And ML was a backbone lacking whimp. Didn't ship them.

Koreans prefer to just watch things they releate to, koreans are quite racist and don't like a cultural exchange themed story, in other places people are generlaly more Cosmopolitan and enjoy this type of immigrant movies.

I don't know much aboit the irl person, but if they're really a pervert, then going by the previous work the character will likely end up dead and killed by someone and the killing of the pervert will be shown as fully justified, so the viewers will be rooting for the killer.
Even when in Mask Girl the pervert charcter was shown as the Point of view charcter for an episode (The drama changed points of if view/lead each ep), the pervert wasn't shown particularly sympathetic beyond just the start of the episode. Actully showing from THEIR point of view made them look EVEN MORE creepy.
So This PD is pretty much Team Kill Perverts, don't sympatize with them. 😅😆 Don't expect justificationd of pervert behaviours, unless someone funding the drama is a creep calling the shots above the PD.
If Son Yejin accepts this drama, I think we can be cerrain there's no creepy funder and Yejin's character will indeed follow the Mask Girl honesty and her character shown as a Villain.

Yes it's a VILLAIN character. Like most of the Leads where in PD's previous work Mask Girl too. This PD doesn'y do the Leads are nice and suporting are villains. Most are villains.

The way both women keep competing over a man like this is headache-inducing 😭, even the trashy 2FL deserves better than this Flaky playboy. How did he ever like the FL at ANY point back when she was fat, seeing how easily seduced he is by looks.....

This PD in their previous work showed all the human darkness in a very honest way. Too honest for MDListers hating on the drama 😅
