On Scent of Time Feb 19, 2024
Title Scent of Time Spoiler
Still have 7 eps. to go. Storywise, yes, quite interesting. But, the romance department seems quite lacking for me. So many scheming plots that I have to skip most of it. I am basically here for the romance, which I am not quite seeing yet, given the last 7 eps. I'm quite confused at Zhong Yelan's character. Like, he may seem to have feelings with FL but his feelings for Mu Yao is obviously always stronger. I just don't like Mu Yao's character from the beginning. Her feelings for Yelan was never pure. I find it more selfish of her. And I don't like her plotting things up to the point that people are dying just to make it even with the FL. She doesn't deserved to be loved by Yelan honestly. For the ML, I'm not sure, but the chemistry between him and the FL is like being forced. That, I still have to find out over the remaining eps. to watch. Hua Rong Zhou will just be that bodyguard for the FL, I know FL will never have feelings for him. she can't even remember his name from the start.
This is definitely a slowburn drama. No kiss yet up to this point. Let me see my verdict up to the finale.

So, I was able to finish the drama to this point. I guess, I'm not a fan of this type of genre drama. It's like basically wasting roughly 28eps. of the drama just to learn that all that transpired was merely a dream and the only reality that happened was the first and final eps. respectively. I am really not happy about the romance or was there even a romance in the first place? Anyway, if you're into schemes, twists, no kiss romance type of genre, this is for you. It's 6.5 for me. Another overrated drama. And yes, up to the finale, I don't know what Zhong Yelan saw on Mu Yao, she's too unlikeable, I'd rather have him like the FL till the end instead. Indeed, love is truly blind in this aspect. Another thing. Hua Rong Zhou's character is another wasted character in the story, he's nothing but an illusion or just like being a schizo I guess. The FL's shadow. I'd rather want him to be a real guard character and a potential love triangle. Good thing I skipped a lot and this was totally a waste of time for me. Sadly.

She didn't. She said that, in the end, she didn't send the letter but still got him involved. You can see her…
Well, it would be better if she did not send her letters, knowing the content is just to ask help from our ML and not sincerely enough to ask if he's been doing well and all. Too selfish act for me. And those spies she sent just to check on ML on his battles just to check if he survived or not? Not a good move just to show you care. Really unlikeable character for a FL.

Li Fei gets 10.0 🤣Scriptwriter gets 1.0 🤣
Try The Crush Season 1 and 2. That's the first drama I saw him. 😍

I believe this has already ended at ep.18. Up to the last moment, I just didn't like FL's character. The audacity to ask ML for marriage in their next life, she didn't even really love him in the first place. She asked ML to rescue them in the palace yet, didn't think of the consequence that it's gonna be his life that will be at risk. Now, she tells she's sending spies just to check if he's okay in every battle. Seriously? that's all you can do as an Empress? Why not send him protective gears, extra food and drinks for his battles? I think that's what you call caring. And yes, not a good way to end for our dashing ML. 😍It's a 6.5 for me. I love Li Fei, but not the story.

Nice couple but overall this had basically no plot. Started to get a bit boring the second they went back to china…
Same thoughts.
On Amidst a Snowstorm of Love Feb 17, 2024
Ok, first this drama caught my attention because of Wu Lei. After, watching him in Love Like The Galaxy, he's one of the MLs I really watch out for. I just really love his portrayal as a General in that drama. Then, seen him in Nothing But You, not really a fan of him doing sports drama, however, seeing him in a contemporary setting is quite refreshing to watch. So, this is my 3rd time watching him in a drama. Honestly, this gave me much of a youthful touch. Like, I am no GenZ myself, so, I can't relate much on how it goes with the romance in this drama. I mean, spending most of their time talking using their phones and we chat, just drag a lot to me. At the beginning it looked cute, but, when it keeps going on andon towards the end, and even when they're together they still talk thru their phones, like okay, I guess it's a GenZ thing. I also understand that the FL portrayal should be young and innocent, but it really bored me. I guess too much naivety ain't for me. Am still looking for FL with fire and passion. Who knows how to tease a bit when it comes with her ML. Another thing that's lacking I guess are the romance for the supposedly secondary couples. Like, the writer came up with none. So, we have to stick to the innocent, pure, silent lovey dovey of the MC all through out the 30eps. I had to do lots of skips which are not of my interests specially their competitions, the death of Mr. He, that ate a lot of time, and yes, the too much exchange of emojis on their weibo so to speak.
My first time to watch the FL. she portrayed her character well acting wise. But, I just didn't like the character of the FL romance wise. But, being an athlete, she's definitely great! On Wu Lei, yes, he was able to incorporate his sexiness in bits and pieces on the entire drama. But, I still prefer the bossy General Wu Lei, who leads his command and has a bit of humor than the serious submissive quiet lover as he is now as YiYang.
I can only give this a 7.5 Overall, the romance didn't gave me that spark and that proposal was a bit cheesy for me. Not my cup of tea, obviously. Still, am gonna look forward on Wu Lei's projects, hopefully a romcoms next time.

This! She lied to him, broke his heart, marry another man, after years still no explanation to him.. yet dare…
As far as what I have observed, FL's personality here is not weak. she's witty. Yes, not physically, but she knows both the Yuwen brothers dotes her. So, she uses this weakness to both of them to resolve whatever she's up to. what lacking here is her feelings towards the ML. As you mentioned, She needs him but the love seems lacking. She hasn't sacrificed anything so far for the ML so to speak. She sacrificed her freedom for her late sister and not for the ML. (just @ep.14) while, our ML is risking his life to stay in the palace for her. Yes, to be in love, you're willing to take risks for anything, no matter what happens. Sadly, I'm still not seeing that in our FL up to this point. Hope, we can see that on succeeding eps. till the finale. 🤞

So true...at the same time so sad for our ML. 😔

Yes, same feels...it really feels too one sided. 😔

I agree on this. They should have sticked to the title "Have soft Spot for Her", since it's always the ML who…
😂🤣I definitely would have agreed!

RICHARD deserves a lead role in a big drama! OH GOODDDD seriously, why is he so dang hot and good looking!!! he…
Absolutely agree! 😍

They changed the title from "Have Soft Spot for Her", that's close to the native title, to a more generic title…
I agree on this. They should have sticked to the title "Have soft Spot for Her", since it's always the ML who gets hurt physically and emotionally for her, while the FL does nothing for him.
On A Tale of Love and Loyalty Feb 15, 2024
As much as I am not liking the Emperor, I think I am not liking the FL either. I mean, given the 5 yr contract they had with her sister, she could have given up the child already to the Emperor and have the courage to fight for her love to Yuan. She has already served her purpose and paid back whatever she owes her sister within those 5 years she sacrificed her own freedom. I just felt her love for Yuan is so weak. It's only Yuan who continues to fight for his love for her. Yuan deserves a better FL character. This is definitely not an equal footing relationship. Sadly, it looks too one sided for me. This is as far as I've watched ep.12. I don't see any sacrifices she has done so far for Yuan.

Just on ep. 2 and that face Li Fei!!!!! 😍Such a charmer!!! Still, on mini series. hope he gets full length dramas soon...as ML of course.

ep.5 was surely on 🔥 and his voice....seems like whispering to your ear. 🥰
On The Love You Give Me Feb 12, 2024
This was in my on-hold list for awhile and decided to pick it up again, giving myself a break from heavy historical dramas. After completing this, I'm a bit disappointed given my high expectations from the MC's first team up in Once We Get Married. That was one of my best romcoms in my list.
With this one, I find it lacking in most areas. The story is predictable. Comparing to OWGM, the chemistry of the leads here is definitely weak. Slowburn and yes, the kisses were too bland. This is another SC syndrome for me. Like, I felt the spark with the swimmer couple. The 3rd couple on the otherhand added the boredom to the story. Like, come on, you cannot divert your feelings in an instant from a person you have feelings for 4yrs.
QuanQuan was truly adorable. But, the winner characters for me are Cindy and yes, Chen Jia Jun, he's such a hot and cool guy. The chemistry of the SC made me stick to the drama till the end. I skipped all the scenes of the 3rd couple. Overall, this is a 7.5 for me.
On Taking Love as a Contract Feb 11, 2024
I checked this out basically for Yan Zi Xian. He was truly remarkable in My Uncanny Destiny. The acting is still great, but, I guess I find him more adorable doing romcoms. The story is quite good for a mini series. But, that ending though just doesn't fit. Not sure, if it's a pre empt for a season 2. Honestly, Season 1 is enough if it not for that ending. I mean, the chemistry is just so so. The kisses aren't as so hot in My Uncanny Destiny. Overall, it's 7.0 for me.
On Butterflied Lover Feb 10, 2024
Another underrated drama. Storywise, this is really good for a short mini series. The writer was able to squeeze in the complete elements of a drama such as comedy, action, fantasy, romance and life drama as it is. Gave this a solid 9.0
I''m still an enthusiast of full length dramas so I can't give this a perfect 10. But, I must commend the writer on this. Inspite of the short time, he was able to add a good story for the secondary couple as well. And yeah, there was a bit of collaboration with The Killer is Also Romantic scenes. Nice move for a screenplay.
Not really a fan of ML, though I've watched his other dramas. He's really good when it comes to steamy kisses. FL looks cute but looks too young for her role. I like Bao Zhu's character. And yes, the father/Commander made me laugh a bit at some points. Not to mention Eunuch He as well. Overall, another good drama not to miss.

hmmm... though you felt it's underrated, but yet you rated it a 9, penalizing the 1pt due to it being a miniseries?!
I understand what you meant about full length with loads of fillers. I tend to skip those too. But, it just feels satisfying to get loads of sweet moments by the MC on a longer note. Plus, sometimes, a secondary couple adds substance to the romance in a drama which I think is a bit hard to fit in for short mini ones. 😊
