also take a look at the bad/negative comments. most of them are just throwing trash to the drama and aren't even…
I think the word hater has been thrown a bit too easily everywhere but I do am tired of people bashing a drama that has just started airing. I don't think somebody judging a drama after 1/2 episodes can make any form of genuine criticism let alone constructive ones.
No patience whatsoever. Especially when it comes to Fantasy, there's always a bit of lore to introduce to viewers. Currently watching episode 2 and having a blast with it. I'm not a fan of any of these actors apart from Kim Ji Hoon and I'm pleasantly surprised.
I'm torn because Yun Gap seems to have been a very sweet young lad ( though pretty boring from what we saw in episode 1) but Gang Cheol is so fun to watch, I'm not sure I can genuinely root from Yun Gap's body to return to his owner.
Also the hints of romance just... doesn't bode well for any of these characters.... So I'm bracing my heart.
But I'm loving the mix of humor and dark fantasy. It's a weird mix but I personally think it works well here.
Dropping this one for now. I'm really enjoying the cheese but after reading the spoiler regarding the end of the webtoon... I just want to be sure that they change the ending before investing more time into this show otherwise I think I'm going to curse it into oblivion.
So... Will wait for the series to end... and will read the ending from those of you who have watched it entirely and THEN only if the ending is what I'm hoping for, on ALL aspects will I watch the show. Luckily I only watched 1 episode and a half before seeing the spoiler so it's not like I've invested that much time and emotion already ^^
So I checked the comment section when the first episode had dropped and most comments were pretty negative...which led me to not start this from day 1. The current ratings also didn't help. This being said, Fantasy being my jam, I couldn't resist giving this show a try.
And found the first episode was pretty damn solid. Yet another example of why MDL's ratings are no longer relevant. If half the series had already aired, I wouldn't say anything but come on'.
You know a ton of people destroy a show if its not just a fluffy- shirtless show with their fav ML or w/e. They…
Lol I'm in the same position though not initially by choice (though now I got to say, it's a bit difficult to let go of your freedom once you've been "constraint-free" for a while). But I do agree with your comment. I kind of get the appeal of being part of a group of like minded people but honestly, I find the negatives outweigh the positives way more.
Err there's one on the first page... Business Proposal. Recently aired Love Next Door ( though the kisses were…
To be fair, I don't think secondary couples were a thing in old K dramas (I'm talking back to the early 2000s). Women were always fighting for the ML and that was it. Secondary couple only started to appear when scriptwriters finally got that people were tired of women being depicted as only having relationships with each other for getting a man's attention instead of you know having genuine friendships.
I would love to contradict your statement though.... But I never care much about secondary couples so anything that happens with them usually fades from my memory... Maybe you're right... Maybe you're not ^^ If some people have a better memory than mine I'd love to have their input.
I think more and more that the kdrama can survive the manwha, that is to say that it will end up with nobody except…
Err there's one on the first page... Business Proposal. Recently aired Love Next Door ( though the kisses were awful)... I'm sure provided enough time I can give you more names of dramas with secondary couples kissing.
I wouldn't be too worried though... K dramas when it comes to romance don't necessarily follow the ending of manga/webtoons.
2 examples at the top of my head: Boys over Flowers with Tsukushi's friend ( If I'm not mistaken Tsukushi is Jang Di or Jan Di in the K drama - don't remember I dropped it) and Nevertheless (didn't watch that one but I know the ending was changed to make her get with the toxic gorgeous dude). Extraordinary You also had a different ending from the webtoon given the webtoon was still being uploaded online when the drama aired ( didn't read the webtoon though so can't know how different these endings are from each other).
Bottom line: It ain't over till it's over. I'm gonna trust the ship I'm rooting for sails by the end. I don't think this show aims at pissing off its viewers... Well at least that's not the vibe I'm getting.
This being said... I'm probably gonna catch up up to ep 5 and wait to watch episode 6 to 8 in one go. Hopefully the crazy girlfriend will go away by the end of episode 8.
I'm in the mood for something EXTREMELLY CHEESY and I've seen some scenes online and this one seems to fit the bill. Ratings is pretty poor on MDL, but I've learned to to not give a damn about those. I think this is one of these shows that is so cringe and full of tropes, people secretly enjoy those but are too ashamed to admit openly they're enjoying the "I'm a such a beautiful pure of heart naive woman that I don't know how beautiful I am and don't understand why suddenly I'm being pursued by a whole harem of hot guys without even trying."
I was waiting for Season 2 to finish before starting that one.... and I just need to vent somewhere.
MY GOD I HATE THIS WHOLE VILLAGE. I hope Daigo all send them to hell by the end of these series.
EDIT: Final ratings 6.5. I won't be watching the second season.
Was it a good series? Yes. Does it deserve more? Certainly Was I entertained? Err... in a way Yes.
Did I like it? NOPE.
Anyway bottom line, it's an excellent series... But it's not for everyone. In terms of enjoyment... I'd rate it 1 for a variety of reasons I won't bother detailing here since they're mostly personal and are not linked to the quality of the show overall... But to make it short: It left me with LOTS of emotions, none of them positive, so I won't be tuning in for the second season.
I'm giving 6.5 because I can't decently give it less even if I really feel like giving less... I hesitated giving it an average 7... But I'm so disgusted, I just can't even bring myself to give a 7 so I'm settling for 6.5.
I think it's very good at what it does and deserves the hype it got... It just not my type of show...
Give it a try but if you're the "sensible type"... I say stay away.
what don't you like about this series ? should i watch it or is it not worth it ? i don't think the trailer is…
I think we're really polluting this thread with this conversation... If you're watching Golden Blood, you know who I'm talking about ^^. Just post back when you've finished Kidnap... I don't regret dropping it but maybe you'll make me change my mind.
I really donβt understand the hate towards Runyu. Out of all the characters in Ashes of Love, he was one of…
So I know this conversation is two months old and I'm sure my perspective will change by the time I reach the end of this series... But right now at episode 15... Run Yu:
1. Doesn't genuinely love Jin Mi. He's pursuing her only because she was promised to him and she's somebody he won't have to share with Xu Feng. When Xu Feng told him they both couldn't love her because they were siblings, he wasn't even fazed. He genuinely didn't care whereas Xu Feng was heartbroken.
I'm sure over the course of 60 episodes, people are bound to forget the details of the things happened at the beginning ( and yes I spoiled myself because this show is THAT good) and are prone to forget that at the start Run Yu had no feelings except friendship towards Jin Mi.
2. He was extremely manipulative into getting her to marry him using her cluelessness to his advantage. Xu Feng never tried to get her to do what he wanted, at least where I am, it seems that he recognizes she's naive on some things but fails to see that she's just as ignorant in matters of love... whereas Run Yu saw from the get-go that she's basically clueless about everything and used it to his advantage.
Anyway, I don't know about the details about what happened after... But when you manipulate a naive girl for your own desires... this will lead to consequences. I might forgive that initial manipulation at some point... But based on where I am right now... Well, let's just say that if people hated his character, it probably started here and rightfully so.
You can be good all you want after but if your "good" is to make victims forget and/or forgive the initial lie, you're sorely mistaken.
There was this K drama called "Healer"... The FL was raised by an adoptive father since very young. It's later revealed that her father died because his best friend betrayed him because he was in love with his friend's girlfriend. The betrayer than got with his friend's girlfriend... and later added another lie on top to get rid of his wife's daughter. He wanted to erase any trace of his former friend in his wife's eyes.
Years passed and the truth eventually came out. He'd been married to this woman for over 20/30 years (don't remember the exact number)... She never forgot her first love, nor her daughter and he never got the love he wanted. BUT he was the best husband she could have asked for, affectionate, faithful, dedidacted... you name it.
But when she learned that she basically had gotten married to the man who caused her lover's death and on top of that that she lost her baby daughter because of him, he lost absolutely everything included any form of gratitude or debt she ever felt for him. You see him at the end of the series, still with political status and aura, but without any friends left. He is alone... with his demons, haunted by the ghosts of the people he wronged to get here (because obviously, once you've crossed that line, you keep on crossing others).
Run Yu's story reminds me of this.
It doesn't matter what he's going to do from now on. Maybe I'll grow some empathy as an external party to his tragic love story. But the start was wrong. He knows it's wrong but he still decides to go down that path. Once you go down that road, you can only right that initial wrong by wronging others again and again.
Well just my 2 cents. I don't hate him yet, BUT I certainly have no affection for him as of now.
60 episodes... Very frightening. I've watched 3 C dramas in a row people were raving about which turned out to be dissapointing + another that I dropped so I really hope this one is the one that is going to break the curse.
I think the story is really engaging from the start, hooked in spite of the CGIs which are a bit too glaring in places ( mostly because the environnement lights is not reflected on the characters which ends up making them stand out from the environment).
The only thing I find utterly ridiculous (I'm currently at episode 4) is the fact that everybody thinks in the Heavenly realm that Jin Mi is a man in spite of: 1. That face 2. No effort to hide her chest ( Ok it's not a big chest but it's still very visible she's not flat)
But whatever. No matter how ridiculous this is... I can't help but love it. Gender Bender is my jam so whenever there's some, even if it just doesn't make any sense, I'm just licking it up.
EDIT: AH OKAY. The hairpin is a magical hairpin that disguises her as a man ^^ Well it does make sense now.
what don't you like about this series ? should i watch it or is it not worth it ? i don't think the trailer is…
I really enjoyed the quirky beginning but now it's been your typical sappy romance for 3 episodes in a row... I'm hoping Naklan is gonna bring some of the edgy vibe next week.... Haven't dropped it yet... I still have some hope we'll go back to the weird atmosphere of the first two episodes.
what don't you like about this series ? should i watch it or is it not worth it ? i don't think the trailer is…
Ah well... You're near the end I guess... With 3 episodes left... gotta finish it I guess. I'm on the verge of dropping My Golden Blood... but still hanging on because I've literally dropped every single Thai dramas I've started since last december... All of them except for one were from GMMTV.
I wish they made more Thai BLs like "Not Me" but it was definitely an exception...

Completely ridiculous premise... But find me one heterosexual woman who never had that fantasy.
As long as the ex of the winner (which I expect is gonna be Lee Chae Min - based on a few clips and my personal scale of "hotness" ) is not gonna make a long stay well, I'm on board. Tropes, clichΓ©s, slow-mo and petty jealousy are more than welcome ( as well as a couple of six packs as a bonus π).
GIMME EVERYTHING. π€ͺ

Nope sir...
That started a little bit after the rise of anime fansubs... around 2002/2003 π
