ep 18 and 19 the rating was 8,9 and now is down to 8.6 a few hours into more people seeing it. I guess we are tired and whatever with the plot. I still think it's a good watch, but I too dropped from 9 to 8.5 after the 19

you are so right about the skills of the crazy father. The half-closed eyes that twitch up open for a second to go back to the same sleepy look give u hibbie jibbies. I would not call it a romance either. This is just attraction of lost and lonely souls who are feeling safer together than on their own
The problem is I've checked out all the currently airing and just aired Cdrama and there isn't a single drama…
I know your pain! I am back to stuff I missed last year and before or reading because releases are blah... I watch mostly costume so not sure my favorite will fit your taste but her is what I remember. From 2025 I seemed to have liked Love and Stride, Into Your Heart, Always My General, Back for You (which was unusual in the theme and how it was shown, almost like a comic book) and Live or Love (tongue in cheek). I prefer shorter dramas so among those A Familiar Stranger is my favorite. I also LOVED Exhuma even if it was totally not my genre. Among creepy detective stories I enjoyed Under the Moonlight, but the ending was iffy. If you want fight sequences, then anything from Rurouni Kenshin series will awe you. And for some reason I really liked A Love Story of Oiled Paper Umbrella And to make a crazy bookends of this idiotic list here are two more of my favorites Dong Lan Xue 30eps 2min each and The Secret of Three Kingdoms 54eps 45 each. I loved them both!
I hear ya. I was just trying to reach certain number of dramas and series watched by the end of this month so I finished whatever I could. But I agree - some of these stories are just bad (ie Everlasting Longing with ever wooden Song Wei Long and Angela Baby. Come to think of it I liked her only in Back for You because she was in coma for 6 out of 12 episodes)🤣😁😂
at 19 it is rather mundane - this drama relies on shock value in plot twists and turns and not good storytelling. I think I will go back to other things and marathon the rest of it later
oh yeah! I dropped it because it was trying to be epic with all that suffering - similarly Brocade Odyssey did that (and I dropped it as well). I think along with the plague of rebirth stories in c drama this year we also will experience the plethora of human misery both on inflicting and receiving site. I am warning everybody about Deng Hua Xiao which (while a brilliant novel) is really hard on any reader. I mean torture of puppies, children and garden variety of abuse (sexual, physical, emotional)
It’s crazy how every episode in this drama gets me speechless like EP18 & 19 were insane omg so many plot twists…
I am wondering myself. After seeing trailers for 20 and 21 I think it will be shocking and unsatisfying as most c drama endings are, unfortunately. We will probably see them starting a new life with hope and without the crazy daddy eunuch son and that part of the fam. Concubine will be shortly at the helm but then something unexpected will take place and that will be ep 30. OR we will get s2 next year
If it was me. I would become like a mouse and escape. Yah, this is one of those scripts that it is overwhelming…
I have not read the book, but I understand this drama is just based on the book and dismissed most of the stuff but kept the gore and unrelenting harshness of unjust world. I gotta tell you Deng Hua Xiao is a bit like this - except the FL there does not want justice through the official channels, just killing people who are guilty quietly and systematically. This script is showing more of futility of average person trying to be just and despair of those who abandon morality to get their own justice and (surprise!) fail, nevertheless. The most important message in all of this is mother's health - you have to let go of the past and live for more than just revenge as when you plan revenge you always have to get 2 coffins ready.
the little girl is amazing! I am here just to see her after her performance in the currently airing The Glory. She is another natural like Tong Tong - and look cute as a button like her fantastic predecessor
omg! I can't watch - he threw the bear into the pool. No way! What a brute! This is such tremendous tragedy!😂🤣😁OK I just wanted to know if there is anybody watching who drew the line at the bear abuse when dropping

someone heard him say he wants to start different stuff. His Up in the Air is supposed to be fantastic, and he is not undressing there at all! I WANT TO SEE THAT ONE to appreciate his acting rather than 6 packs. Alas, it's not out for the west yet. But I am hoping!
