I hope the crew and creators of this drama will not be persecuted or otherwise punished for creating such incredible portrayal of what is wrong with Chinese system. I do hope that just like it was with the Untamed and Word of Honor, which smuggled forbidden stories onto the screen, this veiled commentary on corruption, lawlessness and human misery under dehumanized rule will become Westerner's final call for realizing that there is more to Chinese drama than cliche romance and idol production. Anybody who ever lived under a regime or in a police state will recognize this brilliant historical series for what it really is trying to convey. 10/10 on my list of 2024
Can't found this drama everywhere on the illegal sites. Apparently it's airing on an app called 克拉克拉,…
will wait until it shows up elsewhere for free. I think it's ridiculous to play us with all the "mystery". Like that would increase paid for membership or popularity rating.
There are many dramas and movies that use the concept. I cannot remember all of them. I will mention what I have…
cool! thanks a lot! Just trying to figure out the origins of this in the Chinese Mythology (which accidentally is called Scroll of Mountains and Seas!)
I usually watch Republican era dramas just to watch the outfits, but this was a designer disaster. I guess this is late Republican era production (spotted a lot of 1920s and 1930 items) so making note to myself not to engage in Late Republican Era drama watching because actually other than ML's physique and kisses there was nothing here for me.
does anybody remember from any other dramas the concept of demons/people/immortals being trapped in a painting? I vaguely recall from Love Between Fairy and Devil the scenes of two dudes, I think immortals, jumping into a painting to have drinks while floating down the river on a boat, but this Scroll of Mountain and Seas is different. Just curious if this idea was previously used.
It's ok to have different opinion.I loved both the novel and the drama, and noticed a couple seemingly weak points…
not sure if this should be marked as spoiler so just in case... Dou Ming I hear was really nasty as was Han's biological mother Song Han at one point seemed likeable but in the book (I gathered from reading a summary of the book) was really a psycho and serial killer, like his father Curious about Chen Jia transformation though... if you feel like it... I know about Ji Yong not being lovey dovey and Dou Shishu not a nice guy
