yep/ I gave it 10 and started following WXY since. And had to watch Forever and Ever in the span of a few days to kill the heartache from this. On the lighter note that iconic climb the rampart in the red dress followed by the fall became sooooo overused afterwards - and made fun of - in so many cdramas. the abilities and frivolities divided pretty evenly between the leads. both actors had fun playing free spirited woman who tried the soup from many bowls 🤭😀 and a repressed/inexperienced male virgin exploring intimacy against general dislike for each other

This was basically a torture, humiliation and bullying fest starting with royal cousin forcing a girl into a room with a drunk/drugged prince as an antidote (he even called off the physician!and laughed jolly locking them in). Then the drugged royalty raped the girl while berating her for drugging his wine during banquet, which of course makes perfect sense because he's a king and she a random delivery girl who was already bullied by would-be-prince-consort and said royal cousin. And after the rape , he kicks her out while throwing at her accusations and slander, and a jade pendant as his gesture of ?????. The poor village dummy goes home where she is again tortured, humiliated and bullied by lovely stepmother and her son, who is constantly handsy and tries to rape her in the 8th month of pregnancy. The heavily pregnant girl runs away and is recognized by the same royal cousin who caused all her misery (and the jade pendant), while bleeding in the ditch. She is brought in to be presented to her rapist and father of her child with, again, humiliation, bullying and jolly laughter, because nothing spells romance like jerk with power putting down poor and disadvantaged (powerless) peasant girl who works her ass off during pregnancy to pay for healing her dying father. And on and on it goes: the rapist insisting that the girl is after position and money, while slowly convincing himself that she is the only one he will love- between put downs and being offended by her lack of gratitude. And the 2fl and her people plus stepmother and her son are continuing to torture the heavily pregnant woman.... I dropped halfway because it was ridiculous. I can not believe that China still makes this kind of crap. Not worth rating
