Final verdict: this drama was not bad - I think they pulled off the ending well. This really is a dark drama. I really was not looking for any romance in this one and I am glad they toned it down because it would not have worked well. I would say 7.5- 8. I had a few issues with the FL character in the drama. She was very inconsistent and too self centered for my liking. But the actress played the role beautifully . I loved how they made this drama about people’s memories making them who they are. I also felt that this drama is so close to reality that it is so sad and scary.
One thing that annoys me is that XY cares more about JB then her bf in the last few episodes
Yes I noticed that too. It was almost like the BF needed to struggle hard to keep himself in the picture. But that is XY’s character - JB was the one who could move her career forward. This is the reason I did not dig her character

Yes the fact they trusted each other through thick and thin and would easily give up their life for the other was what showed us That their relationship was solid. Question for you after looking at this discussion - could Jiang Xuening really ne manipulated that easily? If she was so scared of him why did she let herself travel alone with him even if it was for the princess. Like I said the FL in this drama is not an idiot. In fact she is more manipulative than him if you think about it . She remained an ambiguous person till the end . I would say they ML and FL were a match made in heaven/hell? What the ML tells her in front of that molten iron is the absolute truth of who they are and that is why they belong together . So like someone said below - if you want to attach a flag it is yellow. And it is absolutely fine because relationships are never black and white

He is a product of his life circumstances that’s all. You cant expect a guy who has been through something like that to be all happy. He turned out great in spite of that and was a vey loyal guy. He protected the people he cared about. So why plant any flags on him. The FL was not that great of a person either but he accepted her wholeheartedly for who she is.

Exactly my point that woman has no redeeming qualities. She is the one who has severe mental illness not just bipolar- she has other things going on there . I feel like the plot lot it’s momentum here

I think the FL really has her head in the sand still - also the story seems to have lost some of the punch at ep 26. They seem to be going in circles. At least Qi Lian is in his investigation . There is no momentum to the story anymore. I am honestly expecting some lame ending here
